Harry Potter: Rise Of The Serpent

Chapter 9 - Meeting the Delacours

Even if she was young, she was still ungodly attractive, though that's probably the effects of the veela blood. She had long blond hair, crystal blue eyes, and the beginning of what would be an extremely attractive figure. I was happy that I crossed both items off of my agenda on the first day and at the same time at that. The pheromones being subconsciously secreted from her body were truly the most powerful aphrodisiac. The only reason why I was still in control and not a drooling mess like the rest of the men that we passed by was because of my proficiency in occlumency and my being a Serpentine Devil which helped me fight off the affects of the pheromones.

Alastair: "If this is the effectiveness of a part veela, would a full-fledged veela's pheromones be even more effective?" I wondered as we continue our conversation.

Fluer: "From Britain you say? Your french is flawless. I wouldn't have guessed you were foreign." She says as we walk through the shops. "I wonder why he isn't falling under the affect of my veela side?" She wonders. "His hair and eyes also very peculiar but it doesn't seem like he dyes it. Is it possible that's his natural hair color." She thinks as she analyzes the boy in front of her.

Alastair: "I've been practicing french for a long time so it's kind of like my second language." I say with a little smile. "What would she think if I told her I could speak every language?" I thought to myself as the young girl continued to ask her questions.

Fluer: "I see." She says as she falls into her thoughts once again before continuing on with her questions. "So, what brings you all the way to France?" She asks as we stop outside an ice cream parlor and take a seat at one of the tables outside the parlor to continue our conversation.

Alastair: "I've always wanted to visit France but never got around to it. When I was introduced into the magical world I came into some money and I wanted to take a little vacation."

Fluer: "Hmm..." She hums.

She was about to say something else but the shouting of her name could be heard. A little girl could be seen pointing at Fluer and started to walk towards her followed by another woman. They were probably Fluer's mother and sister.

Lady Delacour: "Fluer!" The woman explained. "I told you not to wander off. Something could have happened to you." She chastises the girl worriedly not having noticed me yet.

She then turns her head and notices the strange boy sitting across from her eldest daughter.

Lady Delacour: "Fluer, who's this?" She asks as she analyses me as well. Like mother like daughter I guess.

Alastair: "My name is Alastair Serpent. It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, Lady Delacour." I say courteously.

Fluer: "He was being attacked by a group of ruffians and he needed help." Fluer clarifies and explains the circ.u.mstances under which we met.

The Delacour ladies looked almost identical but each had their own charm. The pheromones coming from Lady Delacour was definitely stronger than the ones coming from her daughters but still not enough to overpower my senses.

Lady Delacour: "Fluer! How could you do something so reckless. You haven't even started school yet and you've already started picking fights. It doesn't matter how talented you are, that could've gone very wrong." The woman chastises her daughter before enveloping her in a hug.

Fluer: "Im fine mother. They were just third years and I took them down easily with a simple leg locking jinx."

Lady Delacour releases her daughter form the hug and turns to look at me.

Lady Delacour: "Come. We're going home now. And bring the boy with us as well since he's bound to create a ruckus wherever he goes."

She didn't elaborate on what she said but everyone present could understand her words. The fact is that with the combination of my vampiric lineage and being a Serpentine Devil caused me to be as attractive as full-fledged veela and it was only going to get worse. I didn't have the same pheromones which would make people loose their senses so it wouldn't be terribly bad, just inconvenient.

Fluer and I both stood up and followed after Lady Delacour having our own little conversation along the way. At some point the younger girl had pushed her way into the conversation and was now an active part in it, well, as active as a 8-9 year old could be. Most of the time she was hanging on Fluer's robes, making sure to not be to far apart from her. I could see why Fluer cared so much for her sister. The little one depended on her elder sister and Fluer felt responsible for her safety, which I guess she is since she's the elder sibling.

We eventually come to a carriage which we enter. The inside of the carriage was much larger than what it appeared to be on the outside, probably due to charms and enchantments. After we had taken our seats the carriage started to move and we began the second half of the journey. It was a relatively short time, two hours, but I fell asleep nonetheless. Ruby never made much of a fuss, only moving every now and then around my body but never coming out of her hiding place. I'm sure it would terrify the Delacours to no end to have a huge snake coiling around their guest so this was probably for the better.

I felt the carriage come to a stop and woke up slowly. The view that greeted me was truly stunning. A huge manor with magical creatures of all kinds walking around with not a care in the world. I exited the carriage along with the rest of the Delacour family, with the absence of the father of course, and started to take in the full beauty of the property.

Fluer: "We have hundreds of different species of magical creatures on the property. Even a few unicorns." She says with a sparkle in her eyes.

Obviously the unicorns were her favorite.

We took our time and made sure to visit many of the animals before entering the manor. Lady Delacour told one of the house elves to prepare something to eat which they immediately did. We continued our conversation all throughout the cooking and eating process before we heard another voice penetrate the room.

Lord Delacour: "I'm back!" The voice echoes throughout the room and the two young girls run to the owner of the voice, jumping into his arms.

Both: "Father!" They say as they tackle him to the ground.

Fluer: "I thought you were supposed to come back tomorrow." Fluer says as she gets off the lord.

Lord Delacour: "What? Are you not happy to see me?" He asks, feigning a hurt expression.

Fluer: "Don't be silly father. Of course we're happy you're back, just a bit unexpected." She says, looking over at me.

Lord Delacour: "Ohh, and who might this young man be?" He asks, following his daughters gaze as I stand up from the table.

Alastair: "I am Lord Alastair Serpent. Lord of the most ancient and noble house of Serpent." I introduce myself in a way befitting someone of nobility. "It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, Lord Delacour."

Lord Delacour looks at me with widened eyes as does the others in the room. I had told them my name but never told them my title or the prestige of my family.

Lord Delacour: "Lord, you say." He says, analyzing me the same way as the others.

Alastair: "Merlin's beard. What is up with this family and their analyzation. This is like the third time already." I think to myself as the lord closes his eyes.

Lord Delacour: "You're a little young to be a lord aren't you? One of a most ancient and noble house at that." He says with an inquisitive tone.

Alastair: "Well, certain events have transpired which allowed me to rise up fairly quickly." After saying this the atmosphere of the room turned an eerie quiet.

Everyone knew that the only way someone as young as myself could be lord of a family is if said person's family had no more eligible heirs meaning a complete decimation of the family.

Lord Delacour: "I see. I apologize for bringing up such a s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e issue." The lord apologizes with sincerity in his eyes.

Alastair: "It's no problem." I respond with a cheerful smile. "I am, in fact, very grateful for your daughter Fluer since she saved me from quite the predicament while I was out shopping."

Then the cheerful atmosphere returned to the room and the topic of discussion changed many times afterwards. The Delacours told me I could stay over however long I wished and ended up staying for a week before finally leaving back to Britain.

Fluer and I had gotten quite close during the time I spent with the family and we promised each other to stay in touch. Before leaving, I gave Fleur a two way mirror which will let us talk no matter the distance. She greatly appreciated the gift and we parted with a hug.

Now it was time for practice and training before my life at Hogwarts begins.
