Hellsing: I Reincarnated As Seras Victoria

Chapter 86 - 86 - Black As Far As The Eye Can See

After Zhao said this, a shadowy figure walked forward and when the sun hit them, it revealed Iroh without his usual relaxed look. The many soldiers who saw this realized that the Dragon of the West has returned.

"As your advisor, I should warn you that attacking the Water Tribe at night is a very foolhardy move."

"You think they'll be able to stop us?" Zhao asks as he continues to face forward.

"I believe that we're in enemy territory which hasn't been trespassed in Over 80 years. Also the environment not only hinders our ability but bolsters theirs." Iroh calmly replies.

Zhao merely smirks at this which shows he has no worries.

"It's only 0900, We will arrive at 1300. We can attack for a few hours before it becomes night."

"You could, But you should let your soldier's rest before the big battle."

"Rest? We've barely moved today." he asks incredulously.

"That's true, but the week travel will take its toll. We will need every ounce of strength we have to defeat them." Iroh frowns as his opinions about Zhao are proven true once again.

"Is the dragon of the west really so fearful of mere water benders?"

At this, he turned to face the old man who didn't even flinch at the attempt at an insult.

"To face your enemy without understanding them is the epitome of foolishness. If you wish to succeed, you should listen to me."

"....very well." He shrugs before turning to his helmsman.

"Order the fleet to continue for another two hours and then halt."

"Yes sir!" He pulls a few levers.

As he did that he pulled a dangling chain in a practiced way. Outside the ship, the smoke coming from a small stack divides into segments which causes the other sh.i.p.s to stop as well.

"Orders have been sent, sir." He yells to Zhao who nods.

"Are you satisfied, General?"

"...." Iroh just turns around and leaves the command center.

"Hmph. Let's see you continue to disrespect me when I return to the homeland with my prize."

When the fleet stopped, the Northern Water Tribe was in a flurry of activity. All of the soldiers in the tribe ran to the palace to arm themselves. Nobody had time to speak to one another as they believe the fleet is right on top of them.

Thanks to the constant training since Seras' arrival, their deployment time has drastically decreased. It only takes an hour for a thousand soldiers to get their weapons and armor and arrive at the palace throne room.

Arnook was waiting at his seat along with Yue and Hana. He has a serious expression when Kahn steps to the front of the thousand men.

"Men! This is what we have been training for! The Fire Nation Bastards have knocked on our door! So let's show them that they've made the biggest mistake of their lives!" He raises his fist into the air.

The thousand soldiers all cheer at the same time and raise their fists in sync. Kahn shows no enjoyment for this as he steps aside when Arnook started to climb down from his seat. His movements silenced the cheers.

The Chief looked at every soldier he could see and all of them have determined looks.

"My brothers!" He yells and the whole army stand straighter.

"You're all here for a sacred duty. Every single one of you here wishes to protect someone. Be it a parent, A child, A sibling, Or a spouse. All of those which you want to protect, every single person here wishes to protect them as well."

"I am proud that none of you are showing fear. This is war and it is unavoidable that some of you will die, but know this! As long as a single one of us is still standing, we will continue to protect our loved ones!"

After he finished the soldiers cheered even louder. It was so loud that the people outside of the palace heard it.

"Go to your positions!" Kahn orders and they all orderly run out.

When the last soldier leaves, Kahn turns to Arnook and they share a mutual silence. A few seconds pass and Kahn bows before leaving.

"Father...." Yue has a worried look.

"Everything will be fine, Yue. I promise you that." He hugs her and his wife who lets a few tears fall.

He is proud that they both held their tears in while the soldiers were there. A few minutes pass and they let go to let him lead the defense.

While the soldiers were heading to their designated positions, Seras was still sitting in the same spot as she was an hour ago. If anyone was here to see her, they would be shocked to find loads of blood, mostly frozen coming from her mouth.

It looked like she coughed up blood many times in a short period of time. This is the result of tryin to separate her Chi into two types. Seras maybe incredibly intelligent, but nobody could account for all of the variables.

Due to her nature, the amount of Chi she has is far ahead of even the avatar. In her case, it is much more difficult to separate her humongous volume. A single slip up would kill a normal person.

Between each injury, the time became longer, which shows she is getting better. In fact, the last time blood came out was over twenty minutes ago. She has her brows furrowed in deep concentration when a smile begins to form.

"Finally...." she mutters as she uses her shadows to clean her body.

Seras stands up And stretches her sore legs before she walks over to the lake. She uses her right hand to form a meter sized ball of water. She then clenches her hand and the ball turns to ice.

"It took so much time, but I did it." She actually laughs from happiness which sounds completely different from her normal insane one.

If anyone did hear her, they would smack her for saying so. To go from a complete novice in water bending to a semi-master in only a few weeks would cause others to cry tears of blood from the injustice of it all. She turns the ball of ice back into water and drops it into the lake when she smells the air.

"It seems that they're here. Just when I learned to turn water into ice, very nice. I could use them as practice." She smirks before turning into a black mist.

She arrived at her room just before Katara and Aang burst in. They have worried looks and Katara runs into seras' embrace. She is trembling because of the memories from when her mother was taken.

"...it will be fine Katara. I promise nothing bad will happen." She pats her back gently.

A minute passes and Katara lets go. She looks up at seras without her tears and no longer has an expression of fear.

"You're right...you're here and I'm also stronger now than I was when it happened. I will protect my brother and Aang."

"Aw~ you won't protect Me?" Seras gives a downcast look.

"W-well Of course I will! I just thought...you're much stronger than me so..." she mumbles after that.

"Thank you. Now go with Aang and talk with the Chief. He will tell you where you can go." Seras pushes them out.

Ok? But what about you Seras?" Aang asks.

"Oh don't worry, I just have a contract to fulfill." She smiles mysteriously before closing the door.

She waits for the sound of their steps to disappear before phasing away to start her preparations.

Another thirty minutes pass and the fleet halted two hours from their destination. Many soldiers are patrolling the ship despite not being in enemy territory. One of these soldiers seemed to have a limp but he was disguising it.

When he was by himself, another figure turned the corner and walked by him. This was Iroh. They stop next to each other and the older man speaks.

"I held him off to not attack until the morning. Have you made your plan?" His voice was low.

"I'm working on it uncle." The soldier takes off his mask and reveals Zuko Who had some cuts and bruises on his face.

"You have to hurry nephew. If you don't get to the Avatar before Zhao then all of this will have been for nothing."

"I will." Zuko nods before placing his mask on.

They walk away from each other and continue their guise of not knowing the other.

While Zuko and Iroh were plotting behind Zhao's back, Captain Li was also forming his own. He was in his own quarters m, sitting on a chair with a thoughtful expression.

"I still don't understand..." he sighs in frustration before he stars to walk in place.

What was confusing the poor captain was why Zhao left the only witness live. His background and ability are average at best and he hasn't been called upon for any secret missions.

The many possibilities he can think of are disappearing as fast as he thinks of them. The only one left was too stupid to be possible.

"I can't think of anything else! Has he really forgotten about him?" He grabs his head.

Yes, Zhao actually forgot about the soldier who Azula needs to discredit him. It was so ridiculous, that he hasn't done anything to act on it for fear of falling into a trap.

'Whatever. I was already set for dismissal and possible execution, but now I'm a captain and I'm working closely with the Princess. Whatever happens, will." He sighs before starting his own plan.

A couple hours pass and Seras just got done with her preparations. She was on top of the large ice plateau that is above the Northern Water Tribe. She sighs in exhaustion as a few sweat drops fall off of her chin.

"Took a long time, but it was worth it." She grins while thinking about what a feat she has accomplished.

Another trait of Water Bending that Seras as discovered is that the ice Created from a water Bender's Chi doesn't melt naturally and can't be controlled by another. It will stay in that state forever until the bender dies or deliberately releases it.

Using this aspect, Seras has developed something that will effectively end the invasion in an instant. She phases to the throne room to talk with the chief about her trap.

When she arrives, the Chief and his wife yell in shock from her appearance while Yue was calm, but still confused as to why Seras has shown this ability. A few guards burst in with spears at the ready but Arnook gestures for them to calm down.

"That is a surprising entrance, Ms. Victoria." He states with a calculating gaze.

"It is. I didn't wish to hide it from You, but when Hahn committed his crimes, I figured it would be used against me." She nods before explaining.

"...true. Then why did you decide now to show us?"

"It's more convenient."

"That's it?"

"Hehehe..." Yue giggles at the side while her mother covered her mouth to hide the smile that formed.

"...."

"I do have a request of you though."

"And that would be?"

"I wish for you to include a water bender or two for every squad of soldiers you have."

"That is already done. I'm not stupid enough to send soldiers against Firebenders without any back up."

"Very well, I wish for you to send out a memo or order for them to look out for a large fireball that will form on top of the palace when they see this I want the water benders to form an ice wall around their squad."

"....how come?"

"Because, if they don't do this they will he killed by the trap I set." She gives a mysterious smirk to which Arnook sighs in annoyance.

"You won't tell me what will happen, will you?" He rubs his forehead.

"Nope! but I assure you, it will be magnificent." She phases away.

"Should I do as she asked?" He looks at his wife.

"I don't see why not. According to Yue's prophetic dreams, she has saved us every time. So I believe she wishes to help us."

After she says this, he looks at Yue.

"I believe in Seras." She gives him a determined look of confidence that reminds him of Seras.

'When I sent you to befriend her, I didn't expect you to like her so much...' he sighs in defeat before sending out his order.

She arrived at the palace's animal area where Appa has been staying. He was in the middle of eating some fruits when he sees Seras. Appa immediately stopped eating and runs to her.

"Hahaha! It's good to see you too Appa." She rubs his cheek as he licks her.

Normally the saliva is a major problem, but thanks to her shadows she just gets rid of them without trouble. After a few minutes of petting, Appa resumes his meal as Seras lays on his stomach.

She looks up at the blue sky through the sky light and relaxes her consciousness. Appa has always been the closest thing she had to a bed that is like the one at home. Her eyes drift close when she hears someone running to her position.

'Well, there goes that relaxing time.' She frowns in annoyance before standing up.

The door opens and reveals a young man with a worried look. He looks at Appa before sighing in relief. However when he notices Seras, he froze in terror. She rose an eyebrow at this reaction when she recognized him.

He was in that alley when she first fought Hahn. He was carrying a large amount of supplies as he ran away. His body begins to tremble when he recognizes her mouth forming a grin.

"Well, it is nice to see you again." She walks closer.

"T-t...I..." he stutters harshly and bites his tongue.

"Pfft! Hahahahaha! Oh! You're hilarious!" She pats his head before leaving.

The young man stays still for a couple more minutes when he touches his hair. His face shows confusion as he mumbles.

"She didn't seem so scary this time...almost like a normal girl..."

Seras phases to the top of the palace and looks our at the sea. Her pupils dilate and her view extends farther. She sees the sh.i.p.s which are anchored about 50 kilometers away.

She realizes that the number of sh.i.p.s are more than what was on the show which made her realize her presence changed the plot once again. Even to her eyesight, the black soot rising out of the hundred sh.i.p.s almost seemed like a blanket covering the sky.

"It starts tomorrow." She shivers in delight which reminds her of her master.

She remembers his redcoat and eyes making that hollow feeling even deeper.
