Hellsing: I Reincarnated As Seras Victoria

Chapter 87 - 87 - The First Wave

Night comes and the moon is hovering ominously in the sky. One of the sh.i.p.s is covered in darkness. If anyone was watching closely, they would see a figure who was skulking around the patrols.

What was weird was that the figure looked exactly the same as them. It reaches the side where a smaller vessel is hanging off of and jumps on top of it. A second figure appears and stands right at the edge of the ship.

"Be careful Nephew." Iroh whispers.

"I will uncle. I'm going to capture the avatar and then I'll bring him home." Zuko has a determined look which only made his uncle sigh in defeat.

"Just please be safe..." he mumbles as he begins lowering the vessel.

Zuko only heard half but he still understood what he said.

'I will uncle...this is my last chance...' he looks at the ice cliffs and his gaze becomes even more determined.

Seras was sitting on top of the palace, as she made a small area where she could actually sit. She is looking up at the nearly full moon and has a look of reminiscence.

'I'm halfway through the plot now....should I hurry it up or risk changing the end? I hate not knowing what I can do...' She grimaces when she sees a small amount of smoke coming from the left most ship.

she knows that it is Zuko in his small vessel hoping to catch Aang.

'I have to talk to this stupid prince as well...he should know that his honor was never taken away....'

Morning comes with all it's annoying sunlight which makes Seras wish she could snuff it out. She hated staying up all night while not being able to sleep during the day.

"Whatever....its all for the blood of those spirits. They will be worth it." She stretches before phasing away.

The reason Seras stayed up the whole time was for fear of a night attack by the fire nation. She promised that no harm will come to the palace and if a fire ball hit it on accident, her deal goes up in smoke.

She reappears inside the throne room which is occupied by Arnook and Kahn who gives her a glare. She ignores him and looks at the Chief.

"Did you tell everyone?"

"I did. I made sure they all understood the consequences if they ignore this order. You don't need to worry."

"Good. Would you like me to do anything while I'm free?"

"....no."

'There isn't anyway she will be able to save her...that vision I was shown so many years ago is coming too soon...' he sighs sadly.

"Are you sure? You seemed to hesitate a little."

"It's an impossible request for you." His gaze was one of resignation.

"....oh well...your loss." She shrugs before phasing away which makes the General shocked.

She arrived at her room and ate the breakfast which was set upon the table before going back to the top of the palace. She watches the many figures below running to their posts to relieve the men who stayed up all night.

As she was watching them, she heard the sound of heavy metal scraping each other and looks at the ocean. Her eyesight allows her to see the movement of the giant trebuchet's and knows that the attack is beginning.

'Let's get started. Haven't earth bended in a while.' She cracks her knuckles after standing up.

While Seras was getting ready to defend, Zhao was in his spot looking out at the giant ice wall that's the only thing which is keeping him from his glory. He smirks confidently before yelling.

"Begin the attack!" He shoots out a large fire tornado which is the signal.

During the night, Zhao rearranged the fleet so it was in an arrow formation. It went from 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, then three rows of 17 sh.i.p.s. He did this so that if they did retaliate they would only be able to destroy the front most sh.i.p.s while the others attack back.

The first four rows are the attacking sh.i.p.s which means 16 giant fire boulders were released. 4 hit the ice wall, 5 hit the natural ice walls, an the rest enter the city. Of The ones that did enter, 2 were stopped by water benders, who produced large ice stacks around it before it landed. The last 5 hit buildings all around the city.

Thankfully Arnook evacuated the tribe to the palace which was the last bastion in case they actually entered the city. The man himself was on top of the wall directing the troops which were disoriented after the trembling stopped.

'This kind of fire power is many times that which they used 80 years ago. It already put a dent in our wall.' He looks down at the damage and can already tell that it won't hold forever.

"General!" He yells and Kahn arrives within a minute.

"Yes, Chief!"

"Their firepower is much too great. Our wall won't hold. So I want you to gather every water bender and bring them here."

"Sir!? I don't think-"

"Enough of the prideful talk! Look!" He points down at the crumbling edifice.

Kahn does so and pales when he sees a giant hole in the so called impenetrable wall. When he looks back at the chief, he nods.

"Very good. We can only try to delay their invasion. So I want every available water bender to both stop the fire balls from entering the city and to repair the ice wall in shifts." He walks away when Kahn salutes.

'It's a matter of time before they get in....I need to speak to Ms. Victoria. She seemed to already foresee this, and her trap might help.' Arnook goes to the palace as Kahn orders the soldiers to do what he said.

The attack continues for many hours and every time Zhao thinks the wall will fall, it is repaired. He grabs the railing with a tight grip along with the heat from his anger which warps the metal.

"It seems the water benders have given up on attacking completely." Iroh walks next to him.

"So it would seem. We shall begin phase two a little early."

"What do you mean?"

"We will use the smaller vessels and have fire Benders make a hole through the wall."

"That's ridiculous! That wall is at least 10 meters thick of pure ice and the water benders will be attacking as soon as they get close!" Iroh yells.

"Then do you have a better idea!? Every dent we make is patched!"

"You know it would come to this, it's only a matter of time. The patchwork isn't complete and every fire ball makes it weaker. We only need to wait until it crumbles."

"....you're right." His sigh was released with a ball of fire as he calms down.

He walks back to the cabin as a servant prepares some tea.

"I almost ruined my victory in haste...." he sits down on his throne like seat which reminded Iroh of the fire lord throne.

Once sunset appeared, the attack stopped and Seras was very annoyed. In the original plot, the wall was penetrated on the second day, however due to her interference they've been holding.

'I give it two more days at the most before the wall falls. Then I can get some sleep.' She yawns on the chair of ice she decided to make from the roof before phasing away.

When she arrived at the throne room, she saw Arnook pacing in nervousness. He didn't know she was there.

'I guess even great leaders have their moments of weakness, I know my master does...' she sighs when she thinks of Alucard's fight against the monsterized Anderson, which made her presence known.

"Ah Miss Victoria, great timing." He visibly relaxes.

"Oh?"

"I've been trying to find you all day."

"My apologies, I've been on the roof of the palace making sure no harm came to it."

"What do you mean?"

"Hmm...Let's just say I've made a bet that I don't wish to lose." He is confused by that but doesn't dwell on it.

"very well, then I shall ask if you can tell me about this trap you set." Seras' perpetual grin went away making Arnook nervous.

"Why do you want to know?"

"As you suspected, the wall won't hold much longer. I give it two days at the most before it's breached."

"I was thinking the same."

"Yes. So I wanted to know about your trap so we can work together."

"....if I tell you, I want you to follow my directions for how we lure them into it."

Arnook was surprised at that but when he remembers how strong and smart Seras has been, he can only sigh in defeat.

"Very well. Please tell me."

Seras grinned before explaining her trap. The Chief was shocked beyond words as he just stares incredulously at her.

"A-And This has b-been done already?"

"Yes it has. I've been waiting for the moment when they breach the wall to release it and I'm getting tired from holding it back."

"....I'm not even going to ask how you've done such a thing, let alone maintain it for this long....however, I would like to know why you didn't tell us about it before now." He shows a dangerous look which made her grin wider.

"I had three main reasons as to why I've withheld this. First is that if I had and you believed me, could you say the same of your men?"

"Of cour-"

"Think about it chief. Your own general's son was incarcerated due to me."

"But that-"

"Yes, it was due to the boy's own stupidity, but it doesn't change the fact that if I never came here, it wouldn't have happened. As a father yourself, you can't honestly say you wouldn't feel the same in his shoes."

"....you're right. What's the second reason?" He tried to refute but only sighs in defeat before speaking.

"Arrogance." The answer shocks him still as Seras continues.

"After 80 years of no attempt to invade, your tribe has mistakenly thought that the Fire Nation was afraid."

"...." Arnook thinks back to his childhood when he was talking to Kahn and the young man said those exact words.

"As smart as you are, I'm sure you know the true reason as to why they haven't made any attempts until now. My third reason is that I didn't think there was enough time."

"What do you mean?"

"Originally, the wall was supposed to fail within a day. To my surprise you've held two and are going on your third."

'What does she mean by originally?'

"Anyway, let me tell you my idea to end this by tomorrow night."

"Please do."

"As you know, the wall isn't going to hold out for more than two days. So my plan is to expedite that."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that we will let them enter the city based on our terms. Specifically I want you to slow down the patch work and every hour make it even slower until at 5 pm. That is when you'll stop patching the wall completely."

"And what will this accomplish?"

"Firebenders are weakened in the cold and at night. I know for a fact that the leader of this invasion will take this opening we give them. When he sees that the wall is no longer being repaired he will be elated and invade the city with haste."

"And that's when you'll spring the trap. They won't be able to defend themselves..." he gasped in awe at her simple plan.

"Exactly. The man is arrogant enough to believe that he has either killed the water benders or that you're too exhausted to continue. Either way, his next action is obvious."

"What will we do with the water benders?"

"I want them to form a wall so that the fire nation will send most of their forces to quickly take the city. At that point is when I will take action."

"And the order from before still applies?"

"Yes. I'll send out a large fireball from atop the palace before my trap is sprung. Please make sure that all of them follow their orders."

"It will be done....thank you for doing this."

"Don't thank me....as I have said before, I made a wager I intend to win."

"...." Arnook leaves to inform his General after Seras said that.

Seras sighed tiredly before heading to her room. When she turned the corner, she saw Katara having a worried look while pacing back and forth. The young water bender stopped her pacing when she saw Seras getting closer.

"Oh thank heavens! You're ok." Katara ran up to seras and hugged her tightly.

The vampire was confused until she remembered that she hasn't talked with Katara for the past day and a half. She returns the hug when Katara began to cry into her c.h.e.s.t.

"I'm sorry Katara. I've been defending the palace all this time and haven't had much free time. In fact, I need to go back soon."

"...what? But, how have you had time to sleep?"

"I haven't."

"What!? Buts it's been almost three days and-" Before Katara can continue, Seras squishes her cheeks together and her mouth looked like a fishes.

Despite doing this, Katara kept talking rapidly until she noticed that it was coming out as incoherent mumbling. She blushed before moving her face back and pouts.

"That was mean, Seras."

"No, it was funny." She laughed s little when she noticed a figure behind Katara hiding behind a corner.

'Ah....so you finally entered the palace, Zuko. Now, how to guide him the way I want? Hmm...'

"Earth to seras!"

"Huh?"

"You haven't been paying attention to what I was saying were you?"

"Hehe, no."

"Jeez. I was saying that Aang and Sokka were getting restless being useless during this war. Especially Aang, he seemed very depressed."

"Oh, let me guess. He feels that it is his fault that the fire nation is here right?"

"How'd you know?" Katara was shocked.

"That's just the way he is. You know what, tell him to be here at 8 am tomorrow. I have something to show you guys."

"Really? You want me to bing Sokka too?"

"Yes, him as well. And make sure you come alone."

"Ok, I'll bring them. I know o can't stop you from doing what you've been, but please try to get some rest at least, alright?" She does a puppy dog eye maneuver which actually affected Seras.

"I will try, but no promises." At this, Katara Hugs her before running back to where Aang and Sokka are.

Seras waved bye at her before smirking as her plan succeeded. She heard Zuko running away after hearing their meet up tomorrow which means he will also be there.
