Hessian Does A Thing

Chapter 19 - Nameless

Hessian POV

Well this is unexpected. The author is actually doing this from my perspective. Normally I'd be fine with just going along for the ride of whatever happens, but it's nice to give everyone a taste of how I feel about things.

Sitting here in this world of water, watching anime from literal memories with my own sword spirit. Honestly I've grown used to his perpetual silence and I would have thought he was mute until he actually spoke to me one day.

When his mouth opened yet no sound came, I could tell he was trying to tell me his name. I'm not frustrated at being unable to hear it. In fact I think I'm happy that he actually made the effort to speak with me.

Realizing that his voice couldn't reach me, he unsheathed his blade. The blade was of similar color scheme to most Zanpakuto in that it was black and white. However instead of a katana, it looked more reminiscent of one of those chinese dao broadsword sabers. Honestly don't know the specific name, but it was a single edged blade.

Realizing that he wanted to fight me, I summoned my armor and moonlight greatsword. It's just a personal preference to use it at this point. You would think that I could be like a certain hero of justice and use my reality marble for combat. Unfortunately I'm unable to do that. This world named 'Sea of Memories' was artificially created by me to assist me with my own magecraft.

I would take a memory from this world and copy it onto pages of a book to re-enact that memory. Normally I pick attacks and spells to use. There is a limit to how complex of a memory I can shove into pages though. So I opt to use regular attacks. The world itself isn't capable of being offensive, so there was never any reason for me to ever deploy it. Perhaps I could make it so with enough time and work, but that would be quite some time in the future.

The world suddenly shook and the feeling of dread washed over me as I narrowed my eyes at the nameless sword spirit. Impossible! With the infinite power from my own soul, pure spiritual pressure shouldn't be capable of making me feel this way. He's just standing there, but I can already feel that winning is impossible. Wait, spiritual pressure should only crush the soul. Why is it affecting my emotions?

Trying to shake off the ever-present feeling of dread I call out to onyx "Onyx, scans now!"

Before Onyx could reply, I lost sight of Nameless until he reappeared with his blade raised. I immediately brought up my greatsword in an attempt to guard. His smaller blade fell onto mine. HOW DOES SUCH A SMALL WEAPON CREATE SUCH A HEAVY ATTACK!?

The water caved in as I felt my arms fracture through the suit. His eyes haven't changed, he's still gazing at me with those sharp red eyes as I struggle to hold off his attack. What the hell is his ability?!

Nameless's lips moved and I could hear his calm voice "Cleave"

The blade erupted with so much spiritual energy that it formed a pure silhouette of a larger translucent blade. Just like he said, his blade began to cleave straight through the Moonlight Greatsword. I tried to counter his own power by exploding out with my own, but it didn't stop his sword as it continued to cleave my sword in half straight down my torso. It went right through onyx's mana barrier and warframe.

The cut was shallow, but the feeling of terror washed over me as I truly believed that there was no beating him. At least up close anyway. "ONYX!" the kaleidobelt responded by throwing out hundreds of pages, each filled with an offensive memory. I raise a wall of ice as I make an escape with super speed. As fast as shunpo is, it would be hard-pressed to catch up with a speedster that's already running. I ignore the explosions that rumbled through the air from behind the giant wall of ice as I notice something odd.

The feeling of absolute terror and dread was gone. Why did I feel that way? It's not like I haven't faced impossibly strong opponents in the past. In fact, how is it that I can properly feel these emotions at all? The kaleidoscope f.u.c.k.e.d up my head, so I was never truly afraid of what I should be afraid of. I continued running despite stewing in confusion.

Normal POV

The explosions behind the wall of ice halted. If Hessian could see behind the wall right then, he would be dumbstruck as the nameless sword spirit didn't look as if he took any damage. The spirit's bamboo hat flew off and the spirit's red eyes were filled with disappointment as he continued to gaze at Hessian's direction. The translucent blade began to contract and compact in size. A sword cry sounded out from his blade as the size of the energy blade continued to shrink. The nameless spirit brandished his blade towards the direction of his fleeing master and swung downwards.

"Split"

The effect was instantaneous. No amount of speed could have dodged it. In an instant, the entire world of memories was cut in half. At the other side, The young magician was cut from his shoulder down to his leg.

Hessian POV

What just happened? I ask myself as I look at the other half of my body on the other side of the closing ravine. Welp there goes my arms and legs. Even Onyx got cut in half, I didn't even know he could be cut like that.

I try to set my body upright as I look over at where Nameless stood. The feeling of impossible fear was gone. There was no dread, no suppression and no confusion. So it was same as always except I seem to be in a pickle. But there is another feeling that I truly haven't felt in a long a.s.s time. Rage? Yep definitely rage. Huh well that's a surprise. It's more of a calm rage, but it's nice to be able to feel it again. Wait there's happiness now. Man, what is going on with my emotions? Questions for later, for now...

"I AM GOING TO USE THIS UNYIELDING RAGE TO KICK YOUR A.S.S" I roared despite being on the ground with half a body.

I grip my broken sword and use my newfound rage to erupt with as much power as I can pump out. The world seemed to tremble from the sheer energy released from me. This is my world, f.u.c.k the fact that it's for support, F.U.C.K THE FACT THAT IT WAS NEVER MEANT FOR COMBAT. Through sheer f.u.c.k.i.n.g willpower, The water beneath me moved according to my d.e.s.i.r.e. My body restored itself as the water reshaped into my other half. All the water in this world was made from my own power.

I began to rise as the sea swirled around me. I willed it all to become a colossal giant of overflowing water and energy. A blue sword similar to the moonlight greatsword formed on the giant avatar's hand as all the energy of the world swirled around it. I willed the sword to be raised as I roared my attack at the nameless spirit

"MOONLIGHT SPIRAL OVERFLOW!"

Normal POV

"MOONLIGHT SPIRAL OVERFLOW"

Hessian thrusted the giant spiral attack forward like an unstoppable tornado. The receiver of the attack didn't show much reaction to it. But if the young magician could see his sword spirit's face, he would see that he was smiling. Nameless pulled his blade back, this time there was no incredible eruption of power, no super dense blade. Only the sound of a hymn, an invisible sword hymn that was released from the blade.

With a smile, the spirit's lips moved once again.

"Annihilate"

The world exploded.

Within Chaldea, Mashu Kyrelight was frantic as her master broke through space and crashed onto the floor.

"MASTER!" she ran to him as his eyes seemed to spin.

His body had multiple visual injuries as she inspected him.

"...Did anybody get the number of that bastard who kicked my ass?" the young magician asked out loud

But before she could respond to it, Hessian knocked out.
