Hi I'm Married, But I'm Sleeping With My Boss

Chapter 55 - Family Matters (4)

"Why would you want to see that" li hua pulled her sister away from the counter "It's none of our business" the little girl still had her gaze on him despite being hauled to the entryway. She didn't want to say exactly what she saw, but the Lady in the casing fairly resembled her mom.

It didn't make any sense to why he'd have such, and protect it the way he did. She hasn't seen him before and the only person she knew was acquainted with her mother was Guiren. Whoever and wherever he is.

The girls picked up their umbrellas and strolled back to their school. It was almost time for their next class and they had to be back on time. Even in class, surrounded by tons of activities she couldn't stop thinking about the man. Li Na wanted to know who he was and how he knew her mother.

She was certain that it was her mom. The small glimpse of the picture was a perfect fit to her mom, even if the picture must've been taken years ago.

She went home with suspicion and all tunneling in her mind. She needed to look for clues or something that could lead to her wonders of who her father really is.

She knew her mom was hiding something, but she never asked because Her answer was far from the truth.

Another normal night without their mom agaib. Li Na snuck into her room after plotting her way to get the key from Mr Fu.

She had no idea of where to start precisely. She moved a chair to a bookshelf and climbed. She looked through the big books stacked in there before stretching to grab hold of any files.

Luckily she got hold of one. The envelope looked burnt from inside the transparent bag it was in. She shrieked when she heard her mother's voice. "She's back so soon?" the girl had limited time to think.

The door opened and Meilin walked in, plopped her hand bag then sat on the bed. She noticed something was out of place in her room. She hadn't gone to the shelf in ages and it was obvious something was taken from it. She knew something exactly like this would happen. Her kids were growing and their need to know the truth too.

She walked out of the room and Li Na quickly crawled from under the bed. She knew her mom was heading for her room and she'd know it's her if she finds only Li hua sleeping.

Maybe it would be best to keep the files back in the shelves but maybe take something that could aid her search for the truth. She randomly pulled out a paper, and put the file back then returned everything to it's normal position.

"I knew it was you Li Na" Meilin said leaning on the wall with hands crossed. The girl stood frozen from the unexpected encounter. "Did you put the files back?" she innocently nodded afraid that she'd receive spanking from her mom or some other punishment.

"I..."

"Come here Li Na" the girl did as her mother said but took slow steps with fingers crossed. Meilin hugged her "You don't need to trouble yourself over this my love" she kissed he girl's forehead "I love you Li Na, isn't my love enough for you?"

Li Na didn't understand why her mother was pretending like everything was alright. She could see deep down in her eyed she was longing for happiness.

The little girls were aware that their mother still cries over things that happened over the years, but she does that only when she believes everyone had gone to bed.

"Mummy why are you hiding things from us?" In a flash, Meilin's grin went to an angry glare in view of her little girl's persistence. She'd never disclose to li na who her real father is. "Want to know so badly?" Meilin grabbed the arm of her daughter and angrily pulled her to the living room caring less of how much her tight grip was hurting her.

"See this man here, he's your father and he's dead! Now that you know are you happy? Does that bring him back? How do you feel knowing your dad died? you've figured out the truth, I told you the truth so please...leave..."

"Mama"

"I SAID LEAVE LI NA!!!" the girl took a step back as she blinked and tears made way down her cheeks. Her lips quivered and her heart sank leaving her body and feelings overloaded with sadness.

She ran to her room and plopped herself on the bed too sad to wail or cry out. Her sister turned to look at her "You did this to yourself Li Na. You're just selfish. Mummy works hard for us to make sure we don't crave the need of a father and you have to keep hurting her..."

"Did you know Li Hua!!!" Li Na threw her pillow at her sister that somewhat picked up a new attitude. "Why're are you doing this. Why did you change so soon?"

Li hua didn't answer. She simply turned back to her dozing position and ignored her sister the entire night.

Meilin needed to lie. There was positively no chance that she'd reveal the secret that she'd been hiding away for as far back as five years. She likewise didn't need Haru too know, since he'd attempt his conceivable best to fins a route into her family and ruin her efforts and the belief system she attempted to embed on her youngsters' brain. The belief that there was no need for a dad

She stared at the picture feeling all levels of guilt. She used the deceased as a weapon for her lies, "I know you'll understand Guiren. I can't possibly let the man that killed you have his way into my children's heart. Some day I'll tell them the truth but not now."

4:00 am, two hours earlier than the alarm. Li Na woke up to investigate the paper she managed to take. She unfolded the paper that was already in a bad condition and it seemed to be an old newspaper or magazine.

"Fire outbreak in paris...seve- seve-" she was finding it hard to pronounce the words so she had to skip it "in-jured and..." she gasped but quickly closed her mouth when her sister mumbled in her sleep then turned.

She looked through the paper for more details but most of the inscriptions had already faded and had some sort of stain on it.

"Re-lated news...Guiren Chiu also part of the vic-tims of the fire..." she remembered what her mother said and it really made her sad that she brought back such memories that hurt her mom.

"Mr Haru...Yang...leaves for Paris to con—sole the family of Mr Chiu..." The picture of the stated man was blurry and she couldn't make out who he was. She squeezed the paper and tossed it into the trash can at the corner of the room.

"I'm not gonna hurt mummy anymore. Daddy died and I reminded her of It. I need to stop" the girl concluded that she didn't need to find out more because of the emotional turmoil her mother would face because of it but deep down, she also believed there was a third party to the story.
