Hi I'm Married, But I'm Sleeping With My Boss

Chapter 68 - What I want for Christmas (2)

Haru paced back and forth, he hadn't closed his eyes for two days straight because Meilin hadn't woken up. The doctors hardly said regardless of how hard he attempted to inquire.

He'd go to the local church every afternoon because he had nothing else to turn to. He knew no religion, knew no God, but he wouldn't mind to beg on his knees for Meilin. Even if he had to put his life on the line but as long as it'll bring Meilin back he'd be forever grateful.

The youngsters went through their day in anguish and silence. Haru didn't need them to go to the hospital, he ordered Mihyo to remain with them at home. They were already worried and he didn't want them to experience the same stress he's passing through.

Li hua cried under the staircase hitting herself for what she said. It wasn't what she  wanted. She didn't know that something bad would actually happen to her mother.

Li Na grabbed her sister by her hair and pulled her out of her hiding spot. She began to throw punches at her younger sister as they both cried "You're badluck!!! I hate you!!!" Li hua tried her best to defend herself and retaliate however she was never the fighting type. Her efforts were of no use.

Mihyo over heard them and dashed to separate the fight. The two didn't pay much attention to her but they did stop but went their separate way. It felt like it was all her fault, The guilt was too much on Mihyo's shoulders. She shouldn't have followed him to Beijing, she should've just stayed back but she got too carried away with her feelings. Now she was sure she had to book a flight back to Seoul any way she can.

"Doctor any news?" Haru had to stop the doctor that was passing by. He couldn't deal with the suspense any more, he needed reality despite the fact that it may hurt him, potentially break him to more than pieces.

"How's she doing. Please answer me..." The doctor looked into his eyes then the reports "She seemed to have been hit by a car according to The police. It remains unknown for now. As for her condition..." He went quiet however Haru shook him by his arms to get an answer "tell me...please..."

"The chances of her not surviving this is quite high. She suffered different fractures, and she was out in the cold for long. Even if she wakes up, She'll be in a vegetative state and won't be able to recognize you, other people too"

"Oh God" he trembled, now he was scared. Tears rolled out, he didn't know what to do. What he'd say to the kids.  How he'd tell them the truth...their mother might not be the same woman they all knew. She might not open her eyes again, she might not remember them? She might not be able to speak... She might die or she might live. He was confused and sad.

"Can I go see her?" The doctor gestured and haru helped himself in. He shut the door and gradually moved towards the bed. Meilin laid there, her skin looking pale, her vains plainly appearing and her body numb.

He sat down "darling...I'm here. It's me, Haru" he grabbed hold of her hand and set a delicate kiss on it "I'm heartbroken, I'm so so sorry for everything I've made you pass through.  But all I need you to do is fight this and come back to us, come back to the kids, if possible come back to me. I don't care if you'd hate me once you wake up, fire a restraining order...Or even if I have to never see them. I don't mind. As long as you're happy, as long as the whole household is happy" she didn't respond.

"Meilin...say something... Say something to me" he cried as he kissed her hand even more and more but she didn't react at all. "you wouldn't like me kissing your hand neither touching it, so why don't you slap me. Hit me, do something to prove you're still alive and you're not going to die" He distanced himself a bit after placing her hand gently beside her body. She wasn't going to respond but he wasn't going to give up no matter what.

"you wanted to see me?" Mihyo turned to look at Haru. It's been two weeks since the accident and he looked terrible. He wasn't taking care of himself and he knew it. "Haru...you're not looking well? Please rest a little for your health"

"I don't think that's what you wanted to say..."

Mihyo nodded. It wasn't what she wanted to say but she wanted her last moment to be long and worth it "I'm leaving..."

Haru didn't say anything, neither did she after her brief words "I'm sorry I shouldn't have come"

"You're right...you shouldn't have" she bit her lip at his words then grabbed hold of her bags and tugged them down the path she walked on leading to the subway station. If that was his goodbye, it really hurt her, but if it'll make him happy, she hopes they never meet again.

A month later, the kids were finally allowed to see the state of their mother. A state that might even leave them more depressed.

"Mom" li Na opened the door and saw her mother in the same spot she'd been. The twins walked forward but Haru waited at the door, he'd planned to take them back after their brief glimpse at their mother. Maybe let them pray or say two or more words of hope.

"We're missing you mummy. I'm really sorry for what I said...just come back to us. You promised you'd never leave us remember... I believe in you" Li hua kissed her forehead at could fill the frosty feel of her skin especially in the season they were in.

Li Na opened the palm of her mother's hanx and placed the little figurine she bought when she traveled to Singapore in it then smiled. "Thank you mummy, I know you got it for us but I want you to hold it for a while Maybe you'd wake up."

Once again, she didn't react. It made them all sad but they didn't want to show it. They had to be strong because they had hope that she'd come back. No matter how long it would take.
