"Happy Birthday!"

I was surprised when I walked into the office break room, Lilith standing there with cake in hand. Along with her was everyone from the marketing department, all screaming happy birthday at me. It was unexpected, but I was glad to see their faces. They all came up to me one by one wishing me a happy birthday and giving me a hug.

It's been two months since I got the new position, I've been busy with all the new work I haven't really gotten to see any of them lately. After they all finished, Lilith came up to me, giving me a huge hug.

"Happy 21st Birthday Zylith!"

I hugged her back, shaking my head.

"What is all this? You know I don't like all this birthday mess, it's unnecessary Lil."

She poured me a glass of punch, turning away from the others as she took out a small flask she somehow hid in her blouse. She emptied the contents into her cup and mine.

"Relax and drink up. I didn't do anything else, I just want us to go out for some drinks after work, okay?"

I couldn't help but smile at her. She was the best, even when she was doing too much.

"Fine, a few drinks after work, just us two."

"Well..." She droned out.

"Well what Lil? What'd you do?"

"I may have mentioned it to everyone else about going out after work.. So we're all supposed to meet up at the bar a few blocks away."

She shrunk down a little, I guess feeling guilty.

"Why am I even surprised anymore? You do things like this every year for my birthday."

She shrunk down a little lower now.

"Actually there's one more thing... It may have gotten mentioned to Mr. Li as well... So he'll be joining also."

I didn't know what to say. I just states at her with a baffled look on my face. Sure, Roman and I have been getting closer in these two months, but it still felt weird when we were around other people at work. Since we weren't trying to let this thing forming between us go public in the company. I just feel like it's going to be an awkward night.

"Surprise..."

Lilith's voice pulled me out of my thoughts. She stood there with a look of mixed expressions on her face.

"I'm sorry Zy, it just came up. Though I don't understand why you didn't tell him it was your birthday. You guys are dating after all."

She whispered the last part so no one else would hear but I still looked around nervously to make sure no one did.

"Well, yeah. I think. It hasn't really come up officially in conversation.. I'm honestly not really sure."

"Well then ask him! Tonight, when we go out for drinks. Casually bring it up, and see what he says. It's simple."

Casually bring it up? Is she even listening to herself? I'm not the type to casually bring something like that up.

"Good afternoon Miss Reins."

I quickly spun around to find Roman standing behind me. Towering over as usual.

"G-Good morning Mr. Li."

"I hope you're having a good day, it being your birthday and all. Happy Birthday by the way."

My face flushed red as he said it. As always, he had that same cute, yet s.e.xy German accent that flowed out. It wasn't always there, as if he tried to hide it sometimes, but it was definitely coming out more and more. It was like he was becoming more comfortable with everyone and everything.

"Thank you, I should be heading back to the office. I still have some work to finish up. Excuse me Mr. Li."

I started to head out of the break room but was stopped by Romans hand resting on my shoulder.

"Miss Reins, would you mind stopping by my office in about thirty minutes? I have something I need to do first, but I'd like you to stop by after please."

"Okay, yeah no problem Mr. Li."

I sat at my desk reading a book I've read a thousand times when I received a knock on the door.

"Come in."

I put the book aside as Miss Hill walked in, stopping as she reached my desk.

"Good afternoon Miss Hill. Please have a seat."

She sat in the chair in front of the desk, crossing her legs and placing he hands in her l.a.p.

"Good afternoon Mr. Li. It seems like I've been gone for ages, how's everything been going since I've been gone?"

"Everything's been really great, the ranking of the company as increased as well. Miss Reins has been doing a splendid job at keeping business rolling."

She shifted in her seat at the mention of Zylith, along with her facial expression becoming unpleasant.

"The real question though, how have you been doing? Has the two months off helped to clear your mind of everything. Getting you focused back onto work?"

She gave me what seemed to be a very sensual smile.

"Yes actually. I've been able to really get my head straight, and I know I'll be able to do my job more effectively now. So I really appreciate you giving me another opportunity at this."

"Just so we're clear on this, I'm more than pleased to have you in my company. You do really great work when you set your mind to it. But Miss Hill, you're not here to get your old position back. I'm very pleased with the work Miss Reins is doing, and I need to see you put effort into tour work again before I can think about moving you back to a higher position. You'll actually be taking her old spot down in the marketing department, to prove to me that you can still do the work you're capable of doing."

At this point I could feel the tension she was putting off. She clearly didn't like what she was hearing. But did she really think I'd go straight to giving her the position back? She does good work when she wants to, but she slacked off last time, costing the company a lot.

"You know Mr. Li, I hear that Miss Reins got that position by getting quite close to you.. quite intimately might I add."

I watched as she stood up from the chair and slowly made her way over to me.

"Miss Hill, I can assure you that's not what happened. And quite frankly it's none of your business."

She grabbed my chair and spun it around to face her, placing her hands on my t.h.i.g.hs, slowly moving higher up.

"If that's really what it takes to get the things you want around here, I'd be happy to oblige."

I grabbed her hands and pulled them away from me, but she quickly climbed onto my l.a.p, placing both hands around my neck.

"Miss Hill, you certainly have the wrong idea here, so please could you get off of me."

"But Mr. Li" she whispered in my ear, "I can guarantee I can offer you more p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e than she ever could."

I sat there fidgeting with things on my desk, waiting to stop by Romans office. I wander what he wants me in there for...

In all honesty, I haven't been able to stop thinking about him at all. I've been really wanting to feel his body again... His touch, his kiss. I was craving it almost, so I decided I'd head over to his office a little earlier.

I headed down the hallway to his office, anxious to be alone with him. I got to his door, grabbed the handle, and stepped inside.

"You wanted to see-"

I stopped in my tracks. It was almost like I couldn't move. I couldn't understand what I was looking at at first, and then it all pieced together in my mind.

What I saw was Miss Hill in Romans l.a.p, arms around his neck. She was just leaning in, by the looks of it she was going for a kiss. Romans hands around her arms.

Suddenly I was able to move again, and without a second thought, I was flying down the hallway. I wasn't sure where I was headed, I just knew I needed to get out of there.

My heart started to throb and ache, and tears welled up in my eyes. What was wrong with me? Why was I feeling like this...?
