Chapter 22 “Big Mouth Part 1”

“Landlord, do you have to choose to go out in the afternoon?” Boink said reluctantly after looking at the blazing sky outside the window.

“If we leave too early then we will need to have dinner outside, and if too late the city will turn dark. Now is perfect.” Dawn said it as a matter of course, “You should come out and walk around sometimes. I haven’t seen you exercise for nearly a week. Even Shadow would take a stroll at night.”

Boink hardly reacted to that statement, but Shadow did and started blushing in the rear due to what was said. Several days ago, she was out taking a stroll in the middle of the night, and because of that, she got lost and had to call Dawn to come retrieve her like a pet. It’s shamefully embarrassing for a century-old lady not to know her way home.

“Ah!” Boink screamed and covered his eyes like a zombie getting incinerated by the sunlight once he stepped out the door.

“What are you howling for?” This hamster was standing on Dawn’s shoulder and crying like a banshee, which startled the human greatly.

“I’m going to melt….” Boink’s stuffed his head into Dawn’s collar like he was suffering from some huge grievance.

“Are you serious?” Shadow pokes his round belly like she’s inspecting some rare animal.

“Ignore him and let’s go.” Dawn doesn’t want to deal with this and waved the cat lady to move, “This time I’ve called a taxi so we won’t need to squeeze on the bus.”

The temperature in the afternoon summer was hot needless to say. As a result, their bodies were listless while waiting for their ride. Thankfully this situation quickly changed the second they got into the cab. Instead of the sweaty air of a public bus ride, the refreshing cool air of the vent brought cheers to the trio.

“Landlord, what is this cool air coming out of the holes?” Shadow, who has never experienced the baptism of air conditioning, was naturally intrigued by the feature since there’s nothing like this in Dawn’s old house.

“Didn’t you go out with me to the mall last time? There’s air conditioning there and an open refrigerator. How come you’re so surprised?” Dawn makes a puzzled face.

“I thought it was just shady inside the mall….” Shadow explained with some embarrassment in her voice.

Dawn smiled after getting it: “I see, guess it is normal for you to think that way. The central air conditioning in the mall is large and covers the entire building so it makes sense that you didn’t notice this.”

“Little brother, this girl is from the countryside?” It may be that the two chatting riders in the back had spoken a bit too loud, thus catching the driver’s ear.

Dawn was stunned at first, but then echoed the idea since it’s such a good excuse: “Huh? Ah, yes, she’s from the countryside. She hasn’t seen the world much so she’s curious about everything.”

“TskTsk, I’ve been driving for so many years, but I’ve never seen a fine girl like the one you have there. Little Brother is quite skilled there to snatch her up.” As he spoke, the driver also turned slightly sideways to give a big thumbs up as props.

Boink laughed wildly during their conversation, but in order to not make noise, the hamster had no choice but to smother it using Dawn’s clothes.

“Driver, you’re mistaken, we’re not in that kind of relationship.” The guy felt so embarrassed at this misunderstanding and began to lose his wits. Thankfully the cat lady didn’t make any weird faces when he glanced over; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to sit still.

“You’re not? Then why were you talking so intimately? Your faces were nearly touching back there.” The driver comments, clearly a bonehead as well. “Don’t worry brother, there’s no need to be shy about these things. When I was young, I also wooed quite a few girls myself.”

“….” Dawn facepalmed his face, understanding this cab driver was a real loudmouth and that there’s nothing he could do to change his opinion.
