I Don't Belong To Such A Stupid World

Chapter 45 - Dage the Evil

The cursed armor kicked the ground, and faster than how Alex could react, he passed between the two Overfiend Blades of Nulgath, reaching him. The armor's strike was blocked from Alex's Nightmare, however the attack was strong enough to send him again against the wall.

Alex: Tch… [Power Drained]

The cursed armor's strength was slowly being s.u.c.k.e.d in the Nightmare, before Alex activated a follow-up skill.

Alex: [Power Shift]

Being able to move again, Alex slowly pushed the armor back, before he activated a third skill.

Alex: [Shackle]!

Chains coming from the void surrounded Alex's body, forming some sort of chainmail, there was also a little shockwave that forced the armor to step back. The next moment, the chaorrupted armor was hit another time from Alex's weapon, and flew some meters away from Alex.

Alex went for a second strike with a thrust, however the cursed armor intercepted the attack by stabbing the Doom Blade on its hands in the ground. Nightmare's tip was deflected and went past the armor's helm.

However, Alex won't let the armor go like that…

Alex: [Temporal Prison]!

Suddenly, the room's color changed, black turned white, red turned blue, and every other color turned into their opposite ones. Meanwhile, everything was frozen in time inside that area.

Alex: Time has stopped… 1 second has passed.

He regained his balance and activated [Unshackle].

2 seconds has passed.

He raised his weapon and slammed it into the cursed armor, before starting to beating the shit out of it.

Alex: 21 seconds has passed… Time has resumed.

The room's colors turned back to normal, and the chaorrupted cursed armor fell in pieces. With a loud metallic sound, the armor fell in the floor, and Alex sighed in relief.

Alex: Alright, now let's take it back to Gravelyn…

He went towards the armor and opened his magical inventory, however, the moment he touched a single piece of the armor, he froze.

While a voice echoed in Alex's mind, a strange thought reached in...What if he took the armor for himself…? He would gain immediately much strength, right? This is the armor of the person that SHOULD be the Champion of Darkness, but a person born from the plane of darkness stole his role.

...He just need to wear the armor and… Against Drakath…

...No, he will lose immediately if he uses the armor, just like Sepulchure. To defeat someone like Drakath one needs to be an individual just like him, teamwork or an increase of power won't work. To beat a powerhouse one needs to be a powerhouse himself.

He knew it, he already fought against Drakath in the game, despite what his account passed through, he was shown in a cutscene to be able to best Drakath only under special circ.u.mstances.

When Alex reached that conclusion, ignoring the voice, he stuffed the armor inside the magical inventory and left from the crypt.

[1 week later]

He reached Shadowfall and presented the armor to Gravelyn, who frowned when she looked through the cursed armor.

Gravelyn: This is troubling. My Father's armor has been corrupted by Chaos. Thank you for returning it to me, Sir Alexander! Anyway, his armor is not the only thing he left me. I found that my Father had taken out an Unlife Insurance policy but it does not say for what amount.

If I can get this paid out, I may be able to fix Shadowfall to its former glory, and hire an army to help take down Drakath!! You have proven your worth by returning my Father's armor, so normally I would have asked you to go to the King's Tax Collector to get the gold, but as you requested, now I'll bring you to Dage the Evil.

Alex: Thank you, her majesty.

He slightly bowed down and followed Gravelyn towards another area of the fortress, which was guarded by some different skeletons. They looked like the ones guarding the entrance of the fortress, however these ones were wearing a different set of armor, which was familiar to Alex. These skeletons belongs to the Undead Legion.

When the skeletons saw Gravelyn, they let her and Alex pass. The two of them soon reached another room.

?: Oh, welcome to my dwelling, her Majesty.

Alex looked past Gravelyn and finally found the person he was looking for. The person was covered from head to toe in a black armor with many demonic skulls designed all over it, with a pair of horns on the back and on the helm. On his back, a long tattered black cloak was being dragged in the floor.

The eye holes in the black skulls attached to the armors were emitting a blue glow, while in the helm, there was a V-shaped opening in front of it which was emitting the same blue glow that the rest of the armor was. This guy was Dage the Evil, once a necromancer, and now just a soul fragment attached to an armor, and leader of the Undead Legion.

Gravelyn: Dage… It was a good thing that you are here, you have a visitor.

Then Gravelyn turned her back and left from the room while saying to Alex.

Gravelyn: Sir Alexander, remember about the Tax Collector thing.

Alex: Yes, yes…

When Gravelyn left, Dage and Alex faced each other, Dage seemed completely different from what one would expect from a ex power-hungry King and from what his title "The Evil", but Alex was feeling as if he had a sword on his neck…

Dage: You should be Sir Alexander.

Alex: Yes, it's me…

Dage: Then go on, what is the reason of your visit? If you want to join the Undead Legion, then I'll welcome you with open arms.

Alex: ...Well… I want your help in a certain matter…

Alex didn't know how to tell it to Dage without causing some misunderstanding. So he slowly said.

Alex: ...I…

Dage: Speak, did the cat eat your tongue?

He seemed being impatient, Alex took deep breaths and said.

Alex: I want you to help me with a matter concerning Nulgath.

The atmosphere seemed to have changed in a blink of eye, and something shining attracted Alex's attention, he looked down and saw a real sword some centimeters away from his neck.

His eyes slowly moved over the blade and looked at the owner of it. His gaze stopped on a creature that looked like a ghoul, it had a muscular figure and grey skin. A brown band acted as a blindfold and had two more swords sheathed on his side.

Dage: ...I didn't expect that… Talk.

Alex: *Gulp* ...I made a contract with Nulgath, in change for my soul, he saved my life… I want to break any connection I have with him, so I thought of turning from a Void Highlord to a member of your Undead Legion.

Dage tilted its head towards the Blade Master that was holding Alex with his sword, and saw the Blade Master shake its head.

Dage: You're not lying… So you are the same as me. Very well, I will let you join only if you can complete certain tasks for me. These tasks I have in mind aren't a joke, are you sure you want to join us?

Alex: Yes…

The Blade Master retracted his blade and stepped back.

Dage: Very well… You said you are a Void Highlord, are you capable to summon a certain blade?

Alex: It depends on your request…

Dage: I want the Overfiend Blade of Nulgath and the Oblivion Blade of Nulgath.

Alex nodded and materialized the blades that Dage the Evil mentioned, however…

?: D̷a̸g̸e̵?̵!̸

Nulgath's surprised voice sounded from the Oblivion Blade of Nulgath.
