I'll Tell You Every Day

Chapter 52: Chapter 52

It was horrible.

Daiyu was screaming and crying the entire time.

No amount of coaxing from Liu Jin would stop her tears and her Zhihao-gege's persuasion only made her mood worse.

The haunted house was surprisingly large and well-made. It was hosted by three senior high classes and they used the gym as their venue.

There were several rooms, each with their own kind of creature. There were ghosts, ghouls, zombies, vampires, and even creatures from myths. Daiyu hated the zombies the most because they chased her around.

At one point, a horde of zombies came chasing after them. In the midst of confusion and panic, Daiyu had accidentally let go of Liu Jin's hand. Zhihao immediately ran to another direction, not realizing that Liu Jin and Daiyu were not following him. When the three children came to their senses, it was only then that they realized that they had been separated from each other.

"Xiao Yu!" Liu Jin shouted, trying to find her.

However, with several guests inside the haunted house, his shouts were masked by various screams.

---

Meanwhile, little lost Daiyu kept crying.

"Jin-gege Uwuuuuuuuu" She wiped her tears as they fell but she did not stop crying.

She continued walking, eager to find the exit. However, the walls around her had various paintings, each with eyes that seemed to follow her. Frightened, she ran for her dear life.

However, as she ran, her little legs had tripped over a prop and she fell down, scraping her knee. She bit her lip, trying to be brave, but the pain had betrayed her and her tears fell once again.

"Jin-gege Uwuuuuuuuuuuu!" She cried loudly.

Just then, a monster approached her.

"Hello, little girl. Are you lost?"

". UWUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!" Daiyu cried even louder upon seeing the monster's face.

"Don't cry! Don't cry! I'm not a bad guy!" He tried to explain.

Daiyu paused, watching as the monster approached her. Her heart started beating faster and faster and when the monster was about to touch her, she screamed and stomped on its foot as hard as she could.

A loud yelp was heard across the gym.

"OUUUUUUCCCCHHHH!" He screamed.

"UWUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!" Daiyu kept crying as she ran away as fast as she could.

Afraid that the monster would chase after her, Daiyu hid behind a prop, silently crying. When she heard shuffling noises outside, she covered her mouth with her little hands, trying to stay as silent as possible.

"Is she here?"

for visiting.

"I saw her run towards this direction!"

"Keep searching!"

"I'll take this side, you guys search over there!"

"Right!"

Daiyu's eyes widened in panic. The monsters were looking for her!

---

Meanwhile, Liu Jin had hurriedly exited the gym and called the attention of the students hosting the booth. He told them that Daiyu had gone missing inside the haunted house and had asked them to help him find her.

Of course, the students quickly agreed. They sent word and all the students dressed in costumes began looking for Daiyu. Liu Jin likewise joined them but Zhihao stayed outside waiting, just in case Daiyu managed to find the exit alone.

Back inside the haunted house, Daiyu didn't know that the monsters were sent by her Jin-gege to help her find the exit. She thought that they were out to eat her! Worry filling her little heart, she knew she had to find her Jin-gege soon.

She sniffed.

'Daiyu must be brave!'

She wiped her tears away and took a peek outside. When she saw that the coast was clear, she ran out in a hurry.

Every time she saw a ghost approaching, she would hide behind a prop quickly. While she was very much frightened, she steeled her little heart and tried her best not to cry.

Whenever she was about to lose faith, she would remind herself to trust in her Jin-gege.

'Jin-gege will find Daiyu! Jin-gege will never leave Daiyu!' She repeated those words in her head again and again.

She ran from room to room, hiding behind props, watching as people and monsters passed by her. Whenever they spotted her, she would hurriedly run, making as many turns as she could to confuse her pursuers before hiding.

Just when she was about to give up, she heard a familiar voice.

"Xiao Yu!"

Liu Jin shouted. His brows were furrowed and his eyes were teary but he did not cry. It had been an hour since he lost his baby Daiyu and he was very worried. She had just recovered from her fever. What if she collapsed in fright?

He wiped his eyes, suppressing his tears.

"Xiao Yu!" He called again.

" -e!"

"Huh?"

" -gege!"

"X-Xiao Yu?!"

"Jin-gegeeeeeeeee!" Daiyu called as she came running towards him.

"Xiao Yu!" Liu Jin dropped his flashlight and ran towards her as fast as he could. When his hands finally caught her, he broke down.

"X-Xiao Yu"

Daiyu was stunned.

Jin-gege was crying.

He buried his head onto the nook of her neck and quietly cried. His arms wrapped her in a tight embrace and his tiny body shook from his silent crying.

Daiyu felt her own tears coming but she smiled instead and gently patted Liu Jin's back.

"Pain, pain, go away" She chanted repeatedly as she tried her best to soothe his worried soul.

"Xiao Yu I'm s-sorr

Before he could finish his sentence, Daiyu cupped his face with her little hands and stared into his eyes.

"Jin-gege!" She beamed, a bright smile blooming on her face.

"Thank you for coming to find Daiyu!" She tiptoed and kissed his lips.

Liu Jin blushed.

She then stretched her arms and gently wiped away his tears just like he would whenever she cried. Then, she tiptoed and kissed each of his cheeks.

Daiyu understood now. Her Jin-gege was a little boy too. He laughs, smiles, but he cries too.

'So Daiyu must work hard. Daiyu has to protect Jin-gege just as much as Jin-gege protects Daiyu.'

"Hehe." She giggled.

Liu Jin sniffed and wiped his eyes dry.

"Jin-gege! Let's go home!"

Liu Jin nodded and held her hand tightly.

---

Outside, Zhihao reunited with them before Liu Jin went home with Daiyu inside the Wang family car. He didn't want to part with her tonight so he slept over.

While earlier he had worried that Daiyu would relapse into a fever, the opposite actually happened. It was Liu Jin who fell into a fever that night. His fright and worry from losing sight of Daiyu must have shaken him up too much.

While he lay in bed, Daiyu ran around taking care of him. She insisted on spoon feeding him for dinner that night and sang him lullabies till he fell asleep. Earlier, she had asked Xiao Nuan to teach her how to check his temperature and she made sure to cool him down by changing the cold towel on his forehead.

Even though her little body was fatigued, she tried her best to stay up and watch over him all night, only getting a few winks of sleep before getting up to change his towel again. When she could no longer tide over her drowsiness, she crawled under the sheets with him, holding his hand tightly as she fell asleep.

---

When morning came, Liu Jin's fever had subsided. He woke up to find Daiyu sleeping beside him, holding his hand. On the bedside table, there was a letter that came with a drawing.

It was Daiyu shielding Liu Jin from a monster. He chuckled.

'Dear Jin-gege.

From now on, Daiyu will work hard to protect you!

When you are sad, Daiyu will make you smile.

When you are sick, Daiyu will take care of you.

When you are happy, Daiyu will smile with you.

Just as Jin-gege has always done for Daiyu.

Love you lots lots lots lots lots,

Daiyu.'

Liu Jin sniffed and wiped his eyes. He tightened his grip on her hand and gently kissed her forehead.

"I love you, Xiao Yu. No matter how many lifetimes we live, I will always always choose you."

"Me too." She replied.

"H-Huh?"

"I will always choose you too, Jin."

Liu Jin's eyes widened. He blinked and rubbed his eyes but Daiyu remained asleep.

Did he imagine it?

He smiled and gently caressed her hair.

"Rest now. I will take care of you as promised."

---

After that haunted house experience, Daiyu worked hard. She had asked her grandfather to hire her an instructor to teach her how to fight. While Liu Jin often taught her basic self-defense skills, she wanted to know just a bit more, enough to not only defend herself but also to fight back when needed.

Of course, Wang Jing quickly agreed. If Daiyu could learn how to protect herself, he would be more at ease. He was happy to know that Daiyu was growing, maturing slowly and learning how to stand on her own two feet.

"Grandpaw!" Daiyu stretched out her arms, asking to be picked up.

Wang Jing chuckled.

Well, maybe it was a bit too early to expect her to stand on her own two feet.

"Let's go! Let's go!" She giggled excitedly.

They were finally going to the waterpark!
