Mizui Visits

This is the first vacation since school started after the summer vacation.

Elementary school students are supposed to enjoy their holidays by hanging out with their friends and indulging in self-indulgence, but I don’t have that kind of time to spare as I have a great goal of “Living a steady life”.

I’ve decided to spend this Saturday and Sunday at my desk, focusing on my studies.

――But my hand had stopped moving forward with my studies.

The reason is Mizui-san.

At first, I thought that she was talking to me out of kindness and gentleness, but since it happened so often, I couldn’t deny that it was unnatural.

Well, the cause was definitely the incident at the library the day before yesterday.

It coincided with the time when she start going crazy, and more importantly, it was the first time I had a real relationship with her.

I’m pretty sure that’s where it happened, but I haven’t been able to figure out what Mizui-san’s motive was for doing it, or even for following me around.

What in the world is driving her to that point?

I can only imagine that she is driven by uncontrollable emotions.

Don’t tell me she――

……… No, that’s not it.

I don’t think that’s the only thing she can do to me while acting so aggressively.

I think I’m too self-conscious.

“…… Even so, I’m really curious…”

I put down my pencil and sit down, look up at the ceiling.

I raised my crossed hands and stretched my back, which made me feel a little more refreshed.

I’m so preoccupied with Mizui-san’s affairs that I don’t feel like I can concentrate on my studies.

I should go for a run for a change.

Just when I was thinking that I should go for a run for a change.

“Ding-dong.”

And then the doorbell rang.

“Ye―s.”

I hear my mother’s voice answering over the intercom.

Well, it’s probably a delivery or something like that anyway.

Let’s go for a run outside after the delivery person leaves the package.

It would be awkward to pass a stranger on the way out the door, so I decided to wait a little longer.

So I sit quietly in my room.

“Hey, Sho! You have a visitor!”

Mom calls me.

I have a visitor?

That would mean that the person who visited me knew my address and was an acquaintance of mine.

If that’s the case, then there must be one visitor.

My classmate and friend, Sunagawa Rinta.

Could it be that he’s here for a visit?

The thought of my friend’s visit lifts my spirits.

It was the first time in my life that a friend had come to my house. After all, I’ve never had a friend who came to my house before.

I hurried down the stairs and headed for the front door.

“Fufu, you’re not going to make her wait, are you?”

(TN: The real translation is this, “Fufu, you’re hard to keep out of the corner, aren’t you?” which I don’t understand what it means. So I change it with the closest I can think of.)

“……?”

Mom said teasingly as we walked past.

Not going to make her wait?

(TN: Same with this, “Can’t you put your friends in the corner?”.)

Even though I questioned her actions, I put on my sandals and opened the door.

――But there was someone there that I hadn’t expected.

“Hello, Sho-kun♡”

“…………Mizui-san?”

She’s wearing a white dress and a straw hat, summery attire, with a rather large backpack of simple design on her back.

She looked clean and pretty.

A field of sunflowers or something like that would be a good background.

There was a friend there, but not the one I was expecting.

I wasn’t disappointed in the least.

I’m still happy that my friend came to my house.

But the surprise precedes the joy.

“Wh-What are you doing here?”

“I came to visit♪”

“No, no, I mean――…… how did know…?”

I don’t remember giving her my address.

“I follow――…… I just happened to be passing by. Like fate♡”

I think I just heard something disturbing.

I can’t help but questioning the contradiction of why she has something that looks like a box of cakes in both hands, but for some reason, I’m afraid to mention it.

I instinctively decided that I should be convinced and said, “I-I see.”

“Can I come in? It’s a little hot outside.”

She was right, this year’s lingering summer heat was quite hard to take.

I guess global warming has been going on since then.

“Ah, yes. Please come in.”

Unlike yesterday when I was leaving school, I didn’t have any business with anyone, and there was no reason to refuse.

I held the door to prevent it from closing and urged her to enter the house.

Mizui-san bowed politely, saying, “I’m sorry to disturb you,” and then neatly placed the heels of his shoes next to the wall.

This kind of gesture shows that she had a good upbringing.

I’m sure it’s the result of her parents’ education.

“Then can I say hello to Sho-kun parents?”

“No, that’s fine.”

This is the first time I’ve had a friend over to my house, but I’m sure a first grader doesn’t need such a formal greeting.

“Please, by all means, let me say hello. I’m sure we’ll be friends for a very long time, very long time.”

She emphasized the word “long” as if it had a deeper meaning.

That means we’ll be friends for a long time, right?

“……? Well, if that’s what you want…”

I wasn’t completely convinced, but she might have been taught that greeting parents friend were a form of etiquette, so it wouldn’t be that unnatural.

As I was about to lead her to the living room where my parents are, unfortunately, “she” appeared in front of me.

It was my sister who came in front of me with an empty ice cream box in her rough loungewear.

The moment I saw her, I made a face as if I had bitten down on a bitter bug.

After all, my sister is the number one person I don’t want to see when I have visitors.

“Hey foolish brother, buy some ice cream and…… come……――”

Before she could finish her commanding tone, she saw Mizui-san standing next to me.

“It’s nice to meet you. I’m Mizui Hime.”

Mizui-san took the trouble to take off her straw hat, bowed her head, and introduced herself.

She didn’t have to do that for “this”.

“…… Hey, little brother.”

“What the shit sister?”

I respond belligerently to the ranting and raving.

Mizui-san rolls her eyes a little bit at my attitude, which changes so much in front of my sister and front of other people.

It’s not that I’ve been acting like a cat. In fact, my attitude toward people other than my sister is more like my normal self.

It’s just that my attitude towards my sister, who I don’t get along with to death, is always like this.

My sister has a very muddled personality, and her attitude towards people around her may not differ much from her attitude towards me.

But there is no doubt that she hates me. And I don’t like her either.

“What the hell are you doing bringing a girl here?”

“Stop talking like that! We’re just friends!”

“You’re her friend, but she’s still a woman! You’re too cocky for your good!”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but don’t lose your temper!”

“You don’t get it! You’re a cocky one!”

When I get angry at the unreasonable way she snaps at me, she snaps at me again unreasonably.

The argument heats up endlessly.

And in the end, as usual…

“Pan!”

And the dull sound of a fist exploding in my brain.

Violent termination by my sister.

I couldn’t bear the intense pain and fell to my knees, holding my brain.

It’s still super painful!

“Ah, I feel bad!”

My sister left the house full of anger, after having been so upset.

I’m sure she went out for a walk to calm her raging temper.

Or maybe she invited her friends over because she didn’t want to be in the same house as me. I think it’s more likely this way.

“Sh-Sho-kun, are you okay?”

“Oh, yeah, I’m fine. It happens all the time.”

The worried tone of Mizui-san’s voice gave me a warm feeling of kindness.

If there was a system to replace my sister, I would like her to take over.

Compared to her violent personality, Mizui-san is an angel.

I don’t think it’s right to compare her to that, but it makes me realize her kindness again.

“Umm, Sho-kun, when you’re dealing with your sister, you’re―how should I put it―…… You’re so brazen.”

I guess she wrapped it up in the thickest layers of obfuscation she could muster.

You could have honestly told me that I was talking abusively.

And I think I’m aware of that.

“Well, sisters and brothers are usually like this.”

I stood up, rubbing my bruised brain, and said this with a hint of resignation.

“Umm…… you two get along well, don’t you?”

I’m not sure if it was sarcasm, flattery, or just a spur-of-the-moment remark because she didn’t have anything to say, but Mizui-san said it with a fake smile.

“…… Yes.”

I replied with 100 percent pure sarcasm.

TN: What u think about the sister? Personally, I really don’t like the sister, she’s violent and annoying AF. She’s like the typical character who will mess everything up in a really important situation and still throw the blame on other people.

Hope the sister will improve as the story goes or just don’t mention her at all.
