Mother Encounter

“Nice to meet you. My name is Mizui Hime, and I’m the class president in Sho-kun class.”

It was right after my sister left.

The first thing Mizui-san did when she came is greet my mother.

Father is not at home at the moment, as he was out playing golf with his boss.

“My, you’re so polite.”

“No, not at all.”

That’s what my mom says, impressed by Mizui-san’s polite manner.

Although she is modest about it, Mizui-san’s mature personality is truly remarkable.

I wonder what she eats to grow up like that.

“Here’s a little something for you.”

“My my, thank you very much.”

Mizui-san handed Mom a paper bag that she had been carrying in advance.

The paper bag seemed to be a box of sweets.

Now the excuse that she just happened to be passing by doesn’t add up anymore.

Well, it’s not like I want to know the truth, so I don’t mind if there are contradictions. In fact, I don’t want to know the truth. It’s a bit scary.

“I didn’t think Sho had such a solid friend.”

Mom said happily.

I’ve never really talked about my friends at home before. Or rather, I didn’t have any friends that I could talk about with my mother.

My mother, who had no idea of my friends because of this, said something like that, probably out of a sense of relief that I did indeed have friends.

“…………… Yes, I’m his friend……… for now.”

She muttered in a voice that neither I nor my mother could hear.

It’s not that I didn’t hear her, but she seemed to be implying something deep.

“Isn’t this the first time Sho friend is coming to our house? Mom is so happy.”

“Eh, really?”

Mizui-san asked me the truth of my mother’s statement.

The tone of her voice was a mixture of surprise and joy.

“W-Well, maybe so……”

In fact, it’s something I can say with certainty is true.

In all my memories, including my first life, I can’t find any memory of my friends coming to my house.

But I’m not mentally strong enough to be proud of that.

Feeling guilty about my complex of not having any friends in the past, I unconsciously responded in a way that muddled my words.

“……… I see, I’m your first.”

In a slightly raised voice, Mizui-san twisted the tips of her shoulder-length hair with her fingertips.

Her cheeks were slightly vermillion and scowled a little.

Seeing this, my mother grinned and smiled at me.

It was as if she could see through her entire state of mind just by the way she smiled.

“Please keep in touch with my son, even though he’s like this.”

“Yes, of course. Auntie.”

“You don’t have to call me that. You can call me “mother”, fufufu.”

“Huh! …… y-yes, mother-in-law. I’m looking forward to working with you for many years to come.”

“Yes, me too. Ufufufu.”

“Fufufu.”

My mother and Mizui-san laughed at each other as if something had been communicated.

And is it my imagination, or does Mizui-san’s use of the word “mother” give me a slight chill……?

My mother noticed Mizui-san’s fondness for me and made that statement in anticipation of the future. And Mizui-san’s smile hearing my mother’s word.

It’s going to be a while before I realize that.
