It was after I had a meal with Logan that we encountered an unwelcome guest.

I was on a walk to get some fresh air together with Logan when we ran into Daisy on the street.

She looked bright today and was not surprised even though we met ‘by chance’ on the street.

This meeting was not a coincidence.

“Oh, it’s been a while.”

My mouth, which was conversing with Logan and was maintaining a fine curve line until just now, went down.

It’s been a while, but I was not happy to see her at all. With a sour expression, I looked at Daisy, who stopped in front of me.

I think I told her not to pretend we’re close last time though.

“Hi.”

But I couldn’t ignore her, could I? I smiled at Daisy, just like how she was smiling at me. She and I were all pretending.

Daisy’s smiling face was nothing similar to the last time, when her eyes blazed at me with fury. She used the nicest manner possible as she spoke to me.

“As expected, you are meeting up with the Duke today as well?”

I had never felt good meeting Daisy whenever I was with Logan.

But wasn’t it better this time? Daisy had already known Logan’s true status. He would no longer need to act against his will whilst trying to thoroughly cover his identity.

Logan was looking at her indifferently. Unlike the last time, when he greeted Daisy first, Logan did not greet her this time around.

Why? Because he didn’t have to pretend to be a commoner anymore. Clearly aware of that, Daisy would not be offended.

“Greetings to you, Your Grace. How have you been?”

Daisy smiled brightly and greeted Logan. After knowing his identity, her attitude changed drastically.

Upon receiving the greeting, Logan just gave a light nod. He did not reply.

Daisy, who seemed to pause for a moment, spoke to him kindly again.

“I want to apologise for my mistake last time. I should have said it earlier, but I haven’t got a chance to see the Duke, so I want to deliver my apology now.”

She didn’t look very apologetic for someone who was remorseful. Wasn’t it obvious that she was trying to talk him out of it by faking an apology?

But it was far too late for her to be liked. Logan’s voice was cold as he responded.

“Apology? If I weren’t a duke, the young lady would never have apologised to me.”

“It’s my fault for not being able to recognise the duke sooner.”

Daisy even made a regretful expression at Logan’s words.

“I’m terribly sorry for upsetting the duke by being bound by the prejudice of a nobleman. After the ball, I realised and reflected on many things. I shouldn’t have judged based on one’s outlook like Sienna…”

Daisy then glanced at me.

She must have regretted it, for committing a different act from my being nice to Logan. Since we were in front of Loga, I pretended to feel sorry for Daisy and opened my mouth

“Daisy, the Duke knows what you mean. It doesn’t seem like a good place to talk, so why don’t you go back for now?”

“Wait a minute, I have something to tell you.”

Daisy then politely extended an invitation to Logan.

“I would like to formally invite the duke as of repentance. My father also said he would like to apologise to the duke for what happened that day.”

Oh would you look at that, so she’s planning to invite Logan over and make room for a private conversation?

However, I did not think that the situation would change much even if Logan agreed to come. Moreover, it was unlikely that Logan would accept her invitation in the first place.

And as predicted, Logan did not accept Daisy’s ‘goodwill’.

“Is there a need for me to accept lady Moore’s invitation? Go back and tell the Count, it would be difficult to meet personally.”

Daisy looked hurt at his words. Only god knew how many times I had fallen for that pitiful-looking face of hers.

“That…Does that mean you can’t forgive me?”

“I will accept your apology. But I want to wrap this up now.”

Nonetheless, Daisy was more persistent than expected.

“Then please accept the invitation. Aren’t we friends in some way? Please forget about all the regrettable things, and let’s go back to the old days.”

“Lady Moore.”

“Yes?”

His expressionless face seemed colder than ever at this moment. Daisy must have felt that too, as she turned a little nervous.

“Did ‘friendship’ ever exist between us?”

There was even a hint of displeasure in his firm voice. He then added coldly.

“I don’t think so.”

“Uh…”

Logan stared at Daisy with a frosty gaze. Daisy was frozen on the spot as she blinked blankly. Moments after, she smiled and parted her lips.

“Your Grace, I understand that you are offended by the previous incident. But don’t you need power too? My family can be of great help to the duke. Can’t you just turn a blind eye to it and start over with our family?”

It was the opposite of Logan’s wish, which was to look at and value the person as an individual.

Still, she wasn’t wrong though. Daisy’s family was powerful. If the County of Moore were on Logan’s side, it wouldn’t be bad for him.

Logan was silent for a moment at Daisy’s words.

What is he thinking?

The question naturally popped up as I observed Logan in silence.

Eventually, Logan spoke up, needless to say, with an emotionless face.

“I have a special relationship with the Grint family. And if I want, I can borrow the help of families with close ties to the Grint Duchy.”

Daisy’s eyes widened, but Logan was not finished.

“For that, I don’t think I need the power of the Moore County.”

Daisy blinked rapidly, probably flustered and embarrassed at the firm refusal.

Right after he threw those words at Daisy, Logan said to me without waiting for her response.

“Let’s go.”

“Yes, Your Grace.”

I left Daisy with him, smiling.
