Its Just A Game

Chapter 47 - Background deals

Pov Elonar

Moving to the edge of the stage after, completely shocked after what just happened, until my sister grabbed me on the shoulder shaking me while pointing towards the stands.

Looking over towards where my sister is pointing there, god staring directly at us with a bemused expression as he waved over the adventurer guild master before talking to him for a few seconds. Before looking back towards us smiling looking over to the two next groups making their way onto the stage observing them with a bland kind of interest as he moved his eyes over the two groups staring at each other with clear hostility. One group was a pair of gnomes and the other was a very different type of Goblins as they were taller than normal goblins but shorter then hobgoblins and they stood straight with semi-groomed hair on their heads with an almost human demeanor while looking fragile with slight muscles development on their bodies. What was also shocking was that they wore Complete sets of cloths that were filled with pockets and large backpacks with metal pipes sticking out of them producing a thick black cloud that dissipated slowly as it rose into the air.

As both groups noticed who the opposing group, insults and slurs of unknown origins with no known meaning besides being loud grunt like sounds that only further infuriated the opposing group to further degrees till they both charged at each other completely abandoning there backpacks full of gear as they jumped at each other slamming into each other heads first collapsing passing out on the spot leaving the judge dumbfounded as she looked at both of the groups laying there passed out at the same time. She turned to look towards god who was just staring. After a few seconds of the two starings, she turned towards the audience.

"We will conclude this match as a tie and count both of them as lost. Now I would like to invite the last few...."

Grabbing my sister's hand I walked towards the exit to find our selves some seats.

Moving into the small doors on the side of the arena we opened it walking in what greeted us was a room with dim lights all along the walls with joyous laughter and the sounds of conversations booming around the room the door lead to as it opened up to a small pub with a few barmaids running around with trays of alcohol witch always managed to stay upwards as a few overzealous ones reached for a feel or the occasional bump making it looks like they were dancing in a crowd of others while they were assessing the area around them as they changed the way they reacted around the customer from Overly assertive, Quick kind, Flirty and all the between as they danced through.

"Hello Misses there's a seat open over there if you are looking for a seat or the stairs are over there they lead towards the stands."

Turning to the side there was A Maook with two small black horns poking out of her hair. In a tight leather shirt died a dark red clashing with her snow white hair that hung around her ears while she balanced a tray of food in her hand above her head with another pressing against her c.h.e.s.t with a finger pointing out towards a bother while the hand above had a finger pointed towards a staircase going upwards.

Glancing at my sister she just nodded causing me to grin as I darted towards the small booth big enough for 4 before sliding into my seat. for my sister to gracefully fallow behind me sitting down to my side.

not long after we sat down a zombie made her way over to us decked out in thin Iron armor sitting down beside us waving towards a server.

My sister seeing the undead shifted in her seat moving away from the undead.

"No near to fear elves I'm here on official business."

"What types of business." I blurted out of habit only to get a sharp pinch from my sister as she shot a quick glare at me.

"Before I go into it lets get our selves some drinks first. May we have a bottle of the nectar brew and one mug of the Blood Brew."

"Right away my lady." A dark elf standing off to the side which I had no clue how long she was there for left leaving us in awkward silence.

"Wh.."

"Wait for drinks first."

Looking off to where the dark elf disappeared to she came back into view moving throw the crowd with a speed that put the other barmaids to shame Dodging the few hands reaching for a grab as she appeared before us again. Handing over 2 delicate glasses that reflected the golden wine that was poured into them producing a sweet scent that smelled like a storm that just passed by. While there was a mug filled a deep red liquid that had a strong smell of Iron and Apples of all things placed in front of the zombie as she grabbed the mug and drank half of it in no time looking over to our untouched cups.

"It's not poisoned if you are wondering. you can inspect the glasses they are poison warding."

Looking over to my sister she lifts the glass inspecting it before taking a sip. Putting the glass down.

"I would like to try what you had if I could."

Smiling she looked over towards the dark elf she disappeared once again, appearing not long later with another mug full placing it down in front of me. Grabbing the mug I brought it up towards my face before taking a giant gulp, or what I would consider giant but nothing like the undeads half the mug in one go, mines more like 1/8 of the mug, these mugs are the size of my head. Nodding, while consoling myself for not being able to drink half the mug.

Then it dawned on me she was trying to get us drunk so we would sign so sketchy contract.

Pushing the mug away. I shoot glares towards her while nudging my sister.

"You do know that alcohol is considered poison. So you can drink all you want from the glass or mug without worries of getting drunk. I don't have any way to prove what I am saying but my lord assured me that these cups work. As he got them straight from the system for exorbitant prices."

Lifting the mug above my head I looked for a symbol of a small status screen the systems official logo. After a little, I noticed an out of the place wooden symbol which of course was the systems shocking me she wasn't lying as the system has killed the few who created counterfeit system Items and all their items.

"Who is your lord?"

The undead bows her head slightly

"Ohhh my I should introduce myself I am Brenda one of the generals for the army of sanctuary, so naturally my lord is Bob the king and god of this place."

"Wait you serious. God is your lord. How is it working for a god? Does he randomly just shoot off like god energy performing miracles?"

"I think you are severely misinformed about Bob he is not much different from you and me just some lucky shot out in life and he spiraled in a different direction from everyone else while he also became the only bastion for all the race hunted and treated as feral animals by the so-called holy races. So he took it upon himself to shelter all he could and that was awarded by the system. In many ways one of which god-hood and this city we all stand-in. And now no so-called god energy just shoots off of him performing miracles. Any miracle type effects from him are done intentionally."

"What does god..."

"Sis quite.

What does he want from us?"

"You see we have a lot of untrained soldiers and only one person with any experience training a large number of people before, but not at this scale and not with this many different races just warriors for his tribe at one point. So we are looking into people who have trained fighting styles and would be willing to teach a small number of soldiers to start before going into training larger numbers after some experience.

As such we have decided to ask anyone we found with skills in the games and see who we could find to teach what they have showcased to excel at to others either in your case to teach soldiers or in others alchemy, Forging, Magical engineering and such."

As I was opening my mouth I felt a sharp jab to my ribs and my sister glare at me.

"Is there any benefits for this or is it just for the country."

"Of course there are benefits here the basics and based on performance will warrant an increase in pay and benefits. For starters, you will make one Dark Iron coin per soldier you are training the first pick on any new product produced for the army or provided to the army, Free maintenance on equipment and other benefits are up to be discussed. I will be waiting at the barracks near the temple for your reply after the games and for further discussion. Now I will be on my way I have a few others I have to try and catch for a chat." She got out of the booth giving the Dark elf a few of the new coins before heading into the crowd disappearing.

"Uhh sis what should we do."

"We can talk about what we will do once we get home."

Hearing a scaringly sweet and soft voice drift into our ears. "This place could be the home you have been looking forward to. Give it a try." Turning towards the voice the dark elf was moozing her way throw the crowd back to behind the bar counter.

"I, umm, we." Tilting my head towards my sis "Should we, it doesn't seem so bad."

"Maybe we will see how the rest of the games go before we decided."
