Jack Schnee [RWBY]

Chapter 31 - After the fight

[Dark Phantom (Jack) P.O.V]

While everyone was focused mostly on Jack, I have been paying very close to Cinder this entire time. She seems to be struggling to escape her binds, but she seemed to bearly be able to muster up any of the strength required to break them. Eventually, Jack fled and everyone was left with disappointment and Cinder.

Jaune: Man, who was that guy. He was seriously skilled to be able to brush off all our attacks and make a getaway.

Olga: I can't tack him with my sense of smell if he's flying through the sky. Although, his scent felt familiar but different. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Kim: Either way, it seems like he would've been able to escape no matter what we did since even the headmaster couldn't stop him.

Blake: What happened? I thought you had him?

Ozpin: I did, but I'm certain he used a certain power that I'm very familiar with. I can't be completely sure, but if I'm right this enemy will be a very dangerous opponent that no one can go up against alone.

Ruby: Can't you tell us a bit more. He did try to kill us and he attacked all of us.

Eve: He didn't attack us, we attacked him. You can see more of the action when you're watching the fight from a further distance away. He only attacked us after we attacked and mostly blocked our attacks. I t was like he was trying not to hurt us.

Yang: I don't understand. If he wasn't trying to attack us, then what was his purpose for coming here in the first place.

Nora: This is crazy.

Pyrrha: Maybe, we should ask the person he was going out of his way to kill.

Jack: Yes, let's see what the mystery woman has to say for herself.

I walk over and sit Cinder up and expect her to spew out as many lies as she possibly can. Cinder angrily looks over at everyone and doesn't say a word.

Ruby: Why are you here?

Cinder: I was here for the party and then that horrible man appeared out of nowhere and attacked me.

Olga: How horrible. How dare that scoundrel, to lend a hand on such a beautiful lady. Please rest assured that he will not hurt you again.

Cinder: Thanks?

Olga: No problem. I can help you out by letting you sleep with me. I have to make sure you're protected every hour of the day.

Cinder: No thanks.

Jack: If he did come out of nowhere and attack you, then you must have attacked all the guards lying on the floor did you not.

Cinder: No, he attacked them and then me.

Jack: You just said that he came out of nowhere to attack you specifically. How were you able to see him attacking other people if he jumped on you.

Cinder: I heard screams and when I turned around he was there.

Jack: That makes perfect sense except your a little far away from the party aren't you.

Cinder: I got lost.

Jack: No one gets this lost, besides even if you did then why are so late to the party in the first place. Don't give me an excuse like you can't tell time.

Cinder:...

Jack: Well, don't have anything else to say.

Kim: Jack, don't you think that you're being a bit hard on her.

Jack: She's dangerous. I can feel it in my bones, she can't be trusted. I think my words already have proved that.

Ozpin: Well, I already contacted the general and he will have his people come pick him up. In the meantime, I think I should strengthen the bonds on her body.

Ozpin used some magic to hold her place. Magic. It truly exists. This headmaster is more dangerous than I gave him credit for. It might be the reason why Cinder was trying to enact so many underhanded schemes to get what she wants. I would've liked it better if she was dead but being captured with all of her powers gone is good enough for me. I have to leave now since the amount of time I'll be able to manage this form is decreasing by the second. Everybody is scattering at this point so I make my way back to Jack's room and drop my transformation. I revert to this person's true body and try to contact Jack. I tell him that we should meet up tomorrow and switch places then. He agrees and I'm left in Jack's room with all of his stuff which in all honesty isn't much. Besides some old books and art supplies, there's isn't much in this room. It's pretty plain. I was expecting more trophies or weapons but I guess that would be more like what my house would be like. Cinder mentioned that someone in the academy had an artifact and thinking of the fight earlier, I believe he has a defensive artifact, but where did he find something like that in the first place. Tired from the events so far, I laid down and went to sleep.

[Cinder's P.O.V. while being escorted by a couple of guards]

I'm being transported as we speak to a secure facility by Ironwood. Maybe I would have to share a cell with Torchwich. I wish I wouldn't in all honestly. How did my plan fail? The guards were easily dispatched, but I didn't think the person who had the artifact would make their appearance tonight. It was almost as if he knew that I would appear there. Is there a traitor in our midst? I wouldn't put it past Dark Phantom to pull a stunt like that, or maybe he teamed up with Jack since he seems oddly aggressive with me. At the very least, I now know what kind of artifact they have and what their semblance can do. It's strange though, none of the intel I've gathered suggests that anyone in the academy had that kind of ability. I guess I'm not the only one keeping secrets from people. I look at one of the guards wearing their high tech equipment that all of a sudden stopped in its tracks. The guard raised its gun toward me and shot the guard next to me. A little surprised that my rescue would come so soon, but I'm not complaining. The other guards hurriedly drew out their guns and started shooting at the one who has gone rogue. All they did was stick a hand out and a barrier appeared in front of them. It blocked all their gunfire and before they could reload, they fired back at them. The other guards stood no chance and eventually all of them were defeated. As soon as I saw the barrier, I knew exactly who arrived to save me. She was a rather useful pawn and one of the many spies I planted at Beacon. She couldn't do anything about Ozpin's spell, but it should fade away in time. For now, I will escape Beacon Academy and plan out my next step with more caution.

???: Madam, you would do well to take care of yourself more.

Cinder: The only reason I've failed to carry out my mission is because you were lackl.u.s.ter in your intel gathering.

???: I'm sorry. I took notes on everything I thought was important, none of the people I've observed showed signs of having the ability to devour anything they want. Maybe I need to pay more attention to the little things as well. Anyway, what do you plan to do now?

Cinder: Well, we need to find out about who that mysterious person is no matter what. They are sure to be a thorn in my side if they have so much power. First, we research Jack and anyone he's close to. He's suspicious and I feel like we're bound to learn more if we keep a closer eye on him.

???: I'll be sure to pay closer attention to him as well, Madam. Please take this opportunity to rest and allow me to take care of everything else.
