Jack Schnee [RWBY]

Chapter 35 - What's the worst that could happen?

Amber POV

Jack left the inn and I was left sitting alone with nothing but the chirping of birds outside to break the silence. Even though it seemed like its been a while since I woke up to me it feels like it was only yesterday that I lost that fight and lost all of my maiden powers. That feeling of helplessness and anger toward my attacker runs through me but as soon as I imagine her face the burning anger suddenly runs cold at the thought of seeing her again. I don't even know if I want this power, it just showed up one day without any indication and I had to accept it. I was never given a choice in the matter but now I had a choice thanks to Jack. A chance to leave this power behind and enjoy my life. However, I can't lie to myself and say that having this power didn't make me feel special. If I gave up this power would I be able to go on without feeling like a piece of myself is missing. I glanced over to the exit and see some cash on the counter. Jack must've left some for me before he left. I'm surprised that he went through the trouble to not only save me but trust me with his secret. He's a little weird but he seems like a nice guy. I go to the bathroom to wash my face and look up to see a different face then what I'm used to. I stare at the mirror hoping to see something different or realize that my eyes were playing tricks on me. Unfortunately, it seems that battle didn't leave only mental scars but physical scars as well. I look to the rest of my outfit and it left much to be d.e.s.i.r.ed. I was only wearing a bra and a short skirt. I looked in the closet but there didn't seem to be any clothes I could use. I looked at the money that Jack left and thought that if I skip out on an expensive lunch I could buy something to cover myself up. I left the room and quickly left the inn to search for a clothes store. After a bunch of walking and getting stared out by literally everyone, I make my way into a clothing store and buy a cloak to cover myself with. Afterward, I walked around the town wondering whether I should take Jack's offer or not. It wasn't long until it was lunchtime and I bought myself a couple of apples to feed myself. I know apples shouldn't take the place of a meal but I love the taste of an apple I deserve a few after what I've been through. While munching on the apple I came across a girl sitting next to a water fountain looking sad. I walk up to her and offer her an apple to make her smile. I mean who could be sad when they're munching on an apple. As soon as I offered it to her, my mind flashed back to the incident and goosebumps appeared all over my body. The little girl took the apple and started eating it. She seemed a little happier though even though it seemed like she wanted to show it. I walk past her wondering if every little thing will remind myself of the incident. I mean now I can't even look into the mirror without being reminded of what happened to me. Do I want to just give up so easily? I start walking back to the inn hoping that I can make up my mind before then. I walked for a little bit until I saw something that made me stop in my tracks. Two people whose figures could never be forgotten were in my sights. The tall man with gray hair with the green hair woman was walking not far from me. No, how could they be here? How? I tried to move but I find myself frozen in place. I don't think they saw me yet at least. It was as fate was taunting me at that moment because a strong gust of wind blew my cloak over my head and my face was presented for them to see. Our eyes locked before I started running as like my life depended on it because it did. I started dashing away from them and then I saw her right in front of me. Fear spread throughout my body and I tripped and fell on the floor. She started to form those crystal lances to attack me again. No. Not again. Never again. I shot a huge fireball toward her and started to fly further into the city to get away from them. It wasn't long until they were shooting at me but bullets weren't enough to scare me as I was constantly on the lookout for that black-haired woman. No matter where I looked she was nowhere to be found, but I did she a different woman wearing a suit of armor with a gun in her hand. She shot something towards me but I easily blocked it with a fireball. Then, out of nowhere a chain was wrapped around me and I was shocked with electricity. I screamed in pain as more and more chains wrapped around me. I fell from the sky wondering if this was how I died.
