Journey Of The Wand Less Mage

Chapter 13 - The Battle Under the Moon (3/3)

"What do we do now?" Jil asked in a panicked voice.

"Just keep running west! We will reroute to meet mother in the village." Mirai answered keeping track for the shadow chasing them and the other part of his mind was still on the system.

After receiving the reward from the first system quest, she immediately used 100 general exp to level up her main battle class, ranger. After moving to level 2 the list of class advancement appeared on her field of view.

She was expecting to see the three basic ranger advancements wild-walker, archer and rogue class.

But the system shows every advancement for each basic class!

Is this what it means that the system lifted the game limitations? Mirai was torn from choosing between the elementalist class or rouge class! If she chooses the elementalist path it will surely brings her to her old main class the Crimson Wizard. But the situations right now calls for a strong damage dealer and agile class!

And just as Mirai was being pressured from the choices. The system pop out a new quest.

Quest: Kill the Pursuer!

A dark elf found your whereabouts and currently pursuing you. Defeat him without harming Jil!

Reward: 60 General Exp

Things are getting a little crazy are we? Mirai thought for a while and finally decided to advanced on the rogue path.

Out of nowhere Mirai felt some warm feelings surge from her gut spreading to her whole body, this is the boost from the advancement!

No too much changes huh? Mirai thought. She quickly grab the dagger looted from Morsé it was a common dagger, nothing special but will suffice to use the Ambidexterity skill. She was delighted to see some extra points on her stats, this is exactly what she needs!

After confirming that there was only one pursuer, Mirai was confident to counter the assassin with the help of Jil, but the clash would still be tricky she was ready to give her all, the level advantange between the assassin and her was vast even with the help of Jil, they would barely match the level of strength of the dark elf.

"Stop at the oak tree and get ready to cast your spells!" Mirai whispered to Jil, they were now at the vegetation east from the South Trade Road. Mirai currently holds her blood weeper on her right hand and the steel dagger from Morsé.

When they approached the oak tree Mirai circled around and activated clandestine on the blind spot of the assassin. Her perception was insufficient to locate the assassin, she merely relied on her instinct to locate the puruser. She then whispered to Jil whose holding her 3 foot long staff nervously. "Don't be nervous just focus, do not worry to hit me just throw your spells to the enemy!"

Jil just nodded in agreement, she's currently a Rank 1 Level 3 Water Mage, she was a protégé by the academy because of her high affinity in water magic but due to her young age, her real battle experience was close to non existent.

The dark elf assassin instantly halt his movements when she saw the dagger user hid behind the tree followed by the mage. He knows that his enemy was plotting something. But instantly got relieved when he saw the two young lass run again out of the oak tree.

Still struggling huh? Must be too scared! Time to get some honors from the general! The drow thought himself, he instantly deactivates his stealth and dashed to catch up from his prey.

Burst steps!

The drow instantly covers the gap to his prey!

Jil used her wand and casted 5 water bolts that instantly flung to the assassin whose only 20 feet away from them.

"Futile!" The dark elf roared, the speed of the water bolts was not enough to hit him. He nimbly dodge the incoming attack and used burst steps again to closed in the remaining gap!

Jil was insanely afraid and nervous on the inside but she manage to remain calm when she saw the dark elf aiming his slash on Mirai. Even a faint smirk appeared on the side of her pale small lips.

The dark elf was not able to see the calm demeanor and smirk from the other girl, he was too thirsted to kill this rats he was pursuing! "Now die you puny human!" The dark elf laughed crazily and slashed aiming on Mirai's neck it was a clean cut but his face instantly paled.

He was sure to see his blade cut on the frail young lady's neck but he felt no resistance from his attack, it felt like he slashed only on thin air. The dark elf knows from his l.u.s.ty experience on killing live beings that even the weakest mortal will pose some resistance to his blade after he slashed. But this time he felt like he slashed to nothing, he realized a grave common mistake he committed!

"Ignorant fool."

A soft voice emerge from behind, it was Mirai holding two daggers glowing faint scarlet like a fresh metal from the smith's furnace, murderous intent flashed on her eyes!

Spell Imbue, fire!

Raid!

Before the drow felt a sharp burning pain from the back of his head the image of the girl he just beheaded transform into water and fell on the ground.

Water Illusion!

A tier-0 magic spell often used by mages the only flaw of the spell was that the image will have no any battle prowess but will have an almost perfect replica image. A famous skill on the game that can turn tides of battle and wars if executed on a very effective way and timing. Even expert players whose ignorant and careless fall for this trick.

The drow was almost beheaded by Mirai but this young lass didn't stop!

Before the consciousness of the dark elf fades Mirai gave him 12 slashes across his body and limbs, this is mutilation! Each slash stacks up the penetrating effect of the blood weeper making it cut through the light armor worn by the assassin.

After realizing his grave mistake, the dark elf died in a very painful way.

Mirai let out a long deep breath and look at the system's interface showing the quest completed.

Successfully defeated an enemy!

+10 Battle exp

Quest: Kill the pursuer, completed!

Reward: 60 General exp

Mirai smiled and turn to Jil "I told you my plan will work out." Mirai winked.

"I was too afraid! What if he aimed at me?" Jil exclaimed she burst out again in tears, back at the oak tree she was dead scared when Mirai told her to be the bait for their plan, but she chose to trust her friend knowing that Mirai save her from the pervert Lauren.

"This night is almost over but we still need to move, let's go!" After looting the spoils from the assassin Mirai decided to use the dirk the dark elf was using. She dropped the blade from Morsé and used the blood weeper on her left hand. The dirk was a much decent weapon than the crude dagger she dumped.

The dirk was a foot and a half long with a dark purple hilt, a vial yet sturdy like glass was placed at the center of the hilt holding some greenish liquid. The blade itself was silver in color which is probably made by some uncommon metal, on the middle of the blade was a delicately installed tube like structure which is just as thin as a needle connecting the tip of the blade to the glass vial from the hilt. Mirai was delighted after the system appraised the dirk.

Name: Stinger

Grade: Fine

Effect 1: Armor Break 10%

Effect 2: Inject or Spray any liquid the user stored on the hilt.

Sweet! Mirai smiled, this weapon is just the perfect pair for her blood weeper! Both are straight daggers with penetrating effects. Even though the dirk was a little longer than the blood weeper, her newly acquired skill Born from Blades will make her manage to use the dirk.

After a few minute, the two girls went back on the trade road to meet up with Milda in the Blue Moss Village.

Mirai's guard was still up as she knows the other two assassin might have some communication stones and now aware on the death of their ally.

But she was not afraid since the next village was just half a mile away, the pursuers won't dare to intrude the Blue Moss village, even a small village like Blue Moss was still part on the borders of the great Zemir Empire!
