Journey Of The Wand Less Mage

Chapter 16 - Slaughter!

A week passed by in a blink of an eye, Blue Moss village started to act in Thomas' command, foundations of a half done wall now surrounds the village, securities also have been fortified by the reinforcement from Zemir, the news was that the empire successfully manage to suppress the attack from the half-beasts and now spreading their forces again across the empire. Not too far from the village center, a newly built wooden house stood, the house itself was around ten square meters barely enough for one bed room and a small living room. Even so, it was more than enough to be called a home for Milda, Jil and Mirai.

Mirai spent three gold coins to hire workers and build a small house on Blue Moss village, she was decided to leave her mother and friend in this village, protected by a saint. Another two gold coins to buy necessities for the house and ten gold coins given to her mother and Jil as a funding for their new home, it'll be enough to cover three years of living with some luxuries! As for Jil and Milda, they can only be happy without bothering how did Mirai manage to have those kind of amounts, knowing Mirai from her actions lately having some money was nothing.

Mirai already discussed things with Jil and Milda, that she will be leaving and used Morsé's death as an excuse that pursuers was still tracking her and she don't want to harm the whole village from another attack from the drows who will attack her. The two can only agree and pray for Mirai's safety.

Mirai was convinced that Milda and Jil will have no troubled living at the town since it was secured and the townsfolk were all friendly towards them.

It was already dusk when the three of them finished arranging everything inside the house and chow down the meal prepared by Milda whose sleeping peacefully beside the snoring Jil.

Mirai softly chuckled glancing at the scene, she grabbed a couple of books from her dimensional ring and left it at the table beside their bed.

Those are the basic to advance books from Lauren's ring, Mirai was now of no need of tangible books since her system allows her to record precisely things she saw, it all just take a clear glance and the system will do it's job. The reason Mirai left the books was for Jil, after the destruction of the mana layer different classes manage to use the power of magic even so, they never got the wisdom and the deep understanding how to use the power of magic. True wizards will never be outshine in terms of magic power and Jil got the potential to be one. Mirai was sure that Jil was only trying to forgot the madness she witnessed but will soon be boost of anger to avenge the massacre of the people and place she holds dear, for now it'll be a good chance to train herself under the mage corps brought by the Zemir Empire.

"It's time to leave." Mirai whispered to herself and took another glance to Milda and Jil before leaving.

Six days passed unknowingly, Mirai was walking towards a dense vegetation, based on the map she acquired from the town store. This should be where the Serpent Queen's Underground Lair was located. She didn't bother herself to grind on the low level monsters roaming here and there. She only got one purpose for this travel. The Underground lair of the Queen Serpent.

This dungeon was famous to be a training ground for players whose under the peak of the 2nd rank. The dungeon itself was a 100 floor deep folded space with restricting effects for those who was brave enough to enter. A player should find the 'entrance' to the next floor but upon entering a floor, a player will not be able to return from the previous floor for the 'exit' will only lead to the start point on the first floor. Every ten floor contains a mini boss and for the last floor would be the Queen Serpent though the 100th floor was still a mystery for the players even for professional players like Mirai! The reason was that the restricting effect on consecutive floor increases, for the first floor 1% decrease on random stats, for the fiftieth floor would be 50% decrease on any random stats! And also resources before delving differ plays a vital role.

Mirai glanced on her system to check her missions that was sent a week ago before leaving Blue Moss Village.

Quest: Reach the 2nd Rank!

Reward: 1000 General Experience

Chain Quest 1: Reach 30th floor of the Queen Serpent's Underground Lair.

Reward: 300 Battle Experience

"30th floor it is then!" Mirai stood at the mouth like entrance of a small cavern between two tall trees.

Mirai raised her head and look up on the sunlight passing thru the dense cl.u.s.ters of leaves and whispered.

"You gave me a body that can't even make a ripple in this era of chaos and expect me to change the situation between empires, kingdoms, gods and the underworld beast to help you? You surely overestimating me don't you Luna?"

Mirai sighed "..but thank you for this life whether I know or not how can I make drastic changes on this era, I'll just try it out."

Mirai took a step and disappeared to nothing like a bubble merging with the surface of the water.

"Damn!" Mirai massaged her temples. Space warping causes some slight dizziness for the player but I never expect the real deal to be this nerve wrecking! She thought.

Ignoring the pain on her mind, Mirai re-organize her thoughts. The first 29 levels of the lair was safe areas for players below the 2nd rank, though the difficulty increases, the gains also improves. The 30th level to 90th level delves the monsters with a battle prowess of that of second ranker some with much higher intellect in match with humans.

I'm currently a level 2 first ranker, I should start farming those big shot and have that little cat with me. A grin appeared on Mirai's lips.

After the pain on her head resides, Mirai started to move. Getting to the 30th floor wasn't a problem. Every corners of the lair, exits and entrance was all intact on her memory, with the help of the system. But doing so with her current strength means courting death.

The first floor would be the home of the knolls, the cavern was dimly lit by luminous stones. The area was around half a mile square having some rocky imbalanced terrain. A normal adventurer will lost track of time if he or she enters the lair, but thanks to the system Mirai would never lost track of day and night.

After confirming the area was the same of that on the game, Mirai started to move and carved a bloody path along the way harvesting decent amount of battle experience while beheading some unlucky knolls who hinder her way before she jumped on a foot deep circular depression on the ground and disappeared right after.

On another level of the lair Mirai appeared out of thin air and instantly hides on a rock to give her mind the rest and to check whatever stats have decreased. The process of rest, slaughter and warping repeats until she reached the 19th floor of the dungeon. Even the first centaur boss was not spared by Mirai.

But for the next level she slowed down her phase and entered an arc like figure made out of bones. That was the entrance for the 20th floor!

"Come on now little kitty cat!" As soon as Mirai appeared on the 20th floor she whispered to herself and smile like a madman. On her whole experience from the game she only had one tamed companion on land, the White Sabertooth!

From the game's solo ranking of the dungeon the one whose standing on the peak was a player who reach the 97th level before turning to a 3rd rank and was not able to continue. That was Mirai! A player who discovered the mightiness of the sabertooth!
