Kingdom Of The Moonlight Rose

Chapter 11 - The Need for Spellcrafting

Ugh!

Eden's entangle spell managed to shift the earth spikes just enough where they did not hit anywhere lethal. Two of the three Earth Spikes grazed Eden's neck on both sides leaving two deep scratches on the side of his neck. The Third Earth spike however, was lodged into his right t.h.i.g.h.

Blood became poring out of the wound. Eden was sweating knowing that he narrowly avoided death.

'I survived the first strike, but I have no idea how I will be getting out of this' thought Eden.

The T3 Earth Hog was angered after it noticed that Eden was still alive after that. It casted Earth Armor on itself, all the Tier 1 Hogs did the same, and prepared to ram itself into Eden who was pinned to the Earth Wall.

'I didn't think I'd die being rammed by a pig' Eden sighed. Eden had ran out of options, he just had to prepare himself for the fact that his life ended so shortly. He was fading from consciousness due to his lack of mana and deteriorating strength.

The T3 Earth Hog and its fellow hogs proceeded to charge at Eden.

BANG!

A sudden red flash appeared blinding Eden. A subsequent explosion appeared.

SQUEE! SQUEE! SQUEE!.

The Tier 1 Earth Hogs disappeared leaving behind nothing but their ashes. The Tier 3 Earth Hog was half burnt but was able to protect itself.

"Stay away from my student!"

An old man appeared from within the dust. It was headmaster Oak. A look of concern on his face as he glanced at Eden's sorry state.

A fire began to envelop Old Man Oak's right hand.

The Tier 3 Earth Hog proceeded to stare down the headmaster. It casted Earth armor on itself and followed up by generating earth spikes around itself.

Old man Oak and the Earth Hog faced each other and rushed at one another.

Eden pinned to the wall couldn't believe his teacher's strength.

An explosion erupted and dirt flew into the air.

When the dust settled, The Earth Hog and Old man Oak remained standing. Old man Oak turned around and walked away from the Earth Hog. The Earth Hog had a whole in its throat after taking Old Man Oak's punch. The Earth Hog died standing up.

"Are you okay Eden?" asked Old man Oak. He was extremely worried about his student's health, but he also wanted to give his student a lesson in humility. There is always someone stronger. His only regret is that he didn't step in earlier at the critical junction which ended up with Eden impaled to the Earth wall. During Eden's training and tasks, Old man Oak was hiding his presence and keeping watch on Eden.

"I've had better days Headmaster" replied Eden. Eden was filled with respect for his headmaster. He was able to take out the Tier 3 Earth Hog with a single punch. Eden's spells left no effect at all.

"We need to get you to a light or water elemental user that can provide healing spells" said Old man Oak. Although Eden could use healing magic on himself, however he currently was not in the state to do so running out of mana.

Eden who was exhausted simply nodded and passed out.

------

'This child has a incredible talent for control over his mana. I do not think many his age would be able to cast this many spells and not have tired out completely.' thought Old man Oak. 'Not only that he has an extreme talent for strategy. If not for his small amount of known spells he probably would've been able to successfully get away from the Tier 3 Earth Hog.'

Old man Oak went through his evaluation of Eden. Although Eden was highly efficient in using his skills and complementing them with his basic combat, the list of available skills at his disposal were mostly their to support him. They weren't spells that sealed the final hit.

Eden required a trump card, a spell that he could cast that could deliver a good dose of damage. Eden required an offensive skill, Old man Oak made up his mind that the first thing when they reach one of the main towns on their journey would be to purchase a spell card for Eden that would enable him to increase his offensive skillset. The only issue is that Eden's unique plant trait did not contain many offensive skills, as most plant skills were meant to limit an opponents capabilities and provide auxiliary support. Second, with the moonlight trait there was not much information and Eden would be seen as a pioneer in this magic trait. He would need to eventually learn how to craft his own spells for that unique trait at one point.

The list of spell-cards or spell-books that were available were for the most part, relatively low level. Most high level elemental users did not want to pass on higher level skills that they crafted within their elemental tree to the masses, and if they did the Noble Class or the rich would horde them. For the common folk it would be rare to find any sold spells above the Level 2 rating. The use of low level spells was to provide a base for learning.

Once elemental users gained experience in the use of spells and their unique structures, they were free to experiment at their own leisure in an attempt to craft their own spells. Two fire elemental users casting a basic fireball spell could have different results based on how they created their spell. No two spells were ever alike. Mana is unique to a user and how one crafts a spell will be completely different from another person.

Old man Oak spent the next hour cleaning up Eden, removing the Earth Spike that impaled Eden's t.h.i.g.h. He proceeded to put Eden on his back and move towards the nearest town.
