Kingdom Of The Moonlight Rose

Chapter 12 - Commission

If one followed the main road it connected Elkwood Town to Border Town. In between the two towns was the Hog Forest. Border town was a bit more prosperous than Elkwood. It was a big location and its population size was at least double that of Elkwood.

The homes in Elkwood looked considerably poor compared to that of Border Town. Here homes were a bit more built up and the town was more bright and colorful. In the town square there were shops lining up the square with an inn directly facing the center of the town square.

When Eden woke up, his first thoughts were wondering how long he had been asleep and where he currently was.

Headmaster Oak who was watching over Eden the entire time quickly noticed his student waking.

"Eden, so you are awake now. You've been asleep for almost two days. We are the the inn at Border town. How are you feeling, do you still feel injured?" asked Headmaster Oak.

"I am fine, it do not feel any signs of the pain I felt two days ago." replied Eden.

"First things first. I must say that you performed well in those dire conditions. I hope you take to heart that you are only a frog at the bottom of the well. You have much to learn young one." lectured Old Man Oak.

"Yes Old Man." replied Eden. He understood that he needed to get stronger. He was only alive because Old Man Oak was there. "I did not know you were a fire elemental user headmaster"

"You never asked" smiled Old man Oak. "As for what level of strength and stage I'm at, I'll tell you at a later date." Old man oak continued. "It does look like for the most part you are healed. Now that you understand I have some gifts for you."

Old man Oak was feeling guilty that his student had some glaring weaknesses and that he did not provide Eden the best assets he could in the first place.

Old Man Oak gave Eden two spell cards, one with the spell Leaf Barrage and the spell Growth. Leaf Barrage was a spell which would allow Eden to send a stream of sharp leaves at opponents. It was the wide range spell that Eden needed.

The second spell was an essential skill for plant trait owners. Growth was a spell that enabled Eden to send his mana into a seed and cause a plant to grow rapidly. You would be hard pressed to find a plant trait user without this skill. With this skill alone, a plant trait user could assist a kingdom during a famine, the only limitation was the mana amount to use growth varied from seed to seed. If a kingdom acquired a large amount of plant trait users, they could potentially solve a kingdom's food problems.

"Take also these Lavender seeds. The Lavender flowers emit a spore upon full bloom that could induce tiredness and sleepiness. If a person is hit with a large amount of the flowers spores, they could be knocked out for a day. Think of an effective way you can use your growth skill with this plant." informed Oak handing the seeds to Eden.

"Learning about plants may be useful to you, there are plants that can attack people, induce poison, paralysis, sleep, think of the variety of ways you can use that knowledge to your advantage. For now, the lavender flower requires only a little mana to bloom.

Seeds provided an instant advantage for Plant trait users and unlimited strategies. As Eden took the seeds from Old man Oak, he was already thinking about how to best use them in battle.

"We can rest here at town here for a few days. I want you to focus on your cultivation. You can finish your sculpting and we can also sell the dog figurines you made here. We will be meeting up with someone here in about a week." stated Old Man Oak.

Eden spent the week continuing his cultivation, with the use of all the Earth Hog cores he acquired he was able to cultivate much more easily. It wasn't an extremely fast rate since he had to continue to cultivate his light elemental trait but it was faster than it would be normally.

Besides his cultivation he continued his sculpting of stone, continuing his control of mana output when creating and developing new figurines. Eden continued to progress with sculpting, around border town were many statues of animals and Eden would often imitate them in order to gain more ideas.

Eden was sitting down in the bustling Border Town square sculpting. The square was filled with many stands and merchants trying to sell their wares.

A little girl wearing a red dress approached Eden who was busily sculpting away. She had a red ribbon tying back her brown hair.

"Hey mister! what are you making?" asked the little girl, looked to be about seven years old.

"I'm sculpting a horse. Similar to the one at the entrance of Border Town." smiled Eden.

Headmaster Oak told Eden that the key to be a successful businessman was always smiling and making others feel good. A smile is the best way to get someone to trust you... until you rip out their hearts by gouging their wallets.

"Would you like one? Its only 5 copper coins." asked Eden. Currency was that 100 copper coins equals a silver coin, and a hundred silver coins equals one gold coin.

"Let me go call Daddy really quick" replied the little girl. The little girl ran off. Soon she brought back a clean looking man with black hair, he was dressed in fine robes and appears to be in his thirties.

"How are you doing? My little girl Abbie said you made a nice horse figurine that she wanted. Here's 5 copper coins for you." The man handed over the coins and Eden subsequently handed over the figurine.

"Oh? What's this.. you are very talented if I don't say so myself. And at such a young age. This looks extremely nice. Do you do custom work for others?" asked the man carefully examining the horse sculpture.

"I have not done any requests yet, you would be the first. I'll hear you out sir." replied Eden.

"Tomorrow is my wife's anniversary, and I wanted to see if you would be able to create something that would remind her of the love that we share. We have been together for 5 years already. Her name is Eliza." stated the man.

"I'll see what I can do, do you happen to have an image or painting of her anywhere?" asked Eden.

"No need she's right over there talking to a pastry chef at his stand" pointed the man.

Eden glanced over and saw a beautiful lady with flowing brown hair wearing a red dress just like her daughter. He then glanced at the smiling little girl Abbie. An idea flew into Eden's head and he was able to picture the type of sculpture he wanted to make, he had the image he wanted to create in his mind.

"By the way, my name is Marth. I'll provide you with the materials to do so if you could, I want it to be much larger than the stones you are currently working working with. I'll have the giant slab of stone about 6 and a half foot tall sent to you."

"That is okay, I've been itching for a bigger challenge. Have the stone slab dropped off at the inn in front of the square nearby." replied Eden.
