Larger Than Life, Bigger Than Us

Jun was waiting on the stage for the announcement. Iris was standing not too far from him. The spotlights shining on them were intense, making him uncomfortable. Right now, his ear was throbbing. Sign there was something wrong. Jun started scanning the audience for Lily's face. Being on that stage, allowed him to have a better view on all the guests. Even though, the light was dim, he could still see their face.

The drum was rolling, waiting for the Master of Ceremony (MC) to drop the suspense and do the big reveal. The MC took both Iris and Jun hands in his.

"I have the greatest p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to announce the engagement of Iris Lang and Jun Wan…"

Before the MC could finish his sentence, Jun had broken away from his hand and stolen the wireless microphone from him. In the mirrored wall, Jun had recognized the face of his fiancée. The woman he had missed for all those months. Not wanting to wait anymore, he screamed her name in the microphone.

"LILY! LIIIILLLY!"

He could see she had stopped at entrance, her eyes fixated on him. For a moment that seems to have lasted an eternity, he got lost in her dark starry eyes. He couldn't believe she was heere.

But she didn't turn back to him. Suddenly, he noticed that a young man was pulling her away. The man, though young, was extremely handsome.

"Who was he to her? Why is she allowing him to pull her like that? Where did she go all this time? Why did she never contact me?" A millions questions were running through Jun's mind but the only one that could give him answer was being taken away from him.

Without ceremony, Jun gave back the microphone to the MC and hurriedly ran toward Lily. But the room was full and the sea of guests was hard to separate.

Left stranded on the stage, Iris was truly pitiful. Her face darkened as anger was quickly rising in her. Even after all her efforts, Jun was still only ever thinking of Lily. Him abandoning her on stage had to be the most humiliating moment of her life. She would never forgive Lily for that. Given the feelings that Iris had, it was impossible for her to be mad at Jun, so she could only attribute her pain to Lily.

The MC was also very shocked by what just had happened. He would have never thought that the groom could easily dismiss his engagement announcement to run after a another girl.

The MC wasn't aware that all of this was an elaborate stratagem designed by Iris that had just failed.

"Ahem…Mr Wan just had an emergency and had to leave suddenly. We will stop the announcement here and resume the night"
