Larger Than Life, Bigger Than Us

Chapter 3 - Beginning or end?

Iris had been feeling uncomfortable for quite awhile now. Ever since Lily had disappeared, she was feeling restless. With Lily gone, Iris could stepped out of the shadow, hence her disappearance should have been good news. Instead, her anxiety was growing day by day. Vanishing was not dying and Iris had a feeling she would not be at peace until she saw Lily's dead body in front of her.

"The b*tch should have kept low profile! She's just a mistress's daughter, who had given her the right to outshine me?!"

Sitting in front of her vanity, her face distorted by hatred, Iris was thinking about all the opportunities where she should have been crowned queen of the night just to witness the success of her half-sister. Life was unfair. She was the main wife's daughter, but was treated like a nobody.

It's not that Iris wasn't pretty. She had elegant features, she dressed with class, had an average intellect but excellent education. She was considered a classic beauty. In any other family, she would have been the pride of her whole clan. It's just that compared to Lily, she was always inevitably banished to the shadows.

Lily had an exotic charisma that managed to get one interested immediately, no matter their gender. She also had delicate features that would make one wants to protect her. Her beauty was ethereal, from another world.

She was however a very cold person and had very thick walls. Unless she considered you a friend, she would never give you the time of the day. She wasn't impolite, just indifferent to other people's opinion.

Still, her icy demeanor wasn't sufficient to water down people's interest from her person. Hence, no matter what Lily said or did and no matter where she was, she always managed to attract attention.

Iris hated her for that. From the moment Lily had joined her family, Iris had sworn that wh*re's daughter would pay the price.

"Are you ready to go?"

In the entrance of her room, a very handsome man had interrupted the flow of her thoughts.

Iris quickly changed her expression in a more pleasant one. When she turned around to look at him, she was all sweet and charming.

"Dear, I'll be ready in a minute."

The man was truly a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to the eye! Lily's fiancé, her secret love since she was 16. With Lily gone, she could finally make him hers. Not that she didn't try before but with Lily's presence, it was near impossible to keep his attention focused on her.
