Larger Than Life, Bigger Than Us

Chapter 33 - Trivial pursuit

As soon as Lily saw the young man, she had the profound conviction she could trust him. That's why she had no hesitation in revealing the truth. She, however, didn't expect he would be so shocked by it.

"Does Young Mistress…not… not remember who I am?"

He asked her carefully, not sure if he had understood her the first time. His voice was trembling and his eyes were starting to be red and misty.

"I don't remember you, this place, my past, nothing"

Lily was brutally honest. There was nothing to hide. It was better to reveal all her cards now.

The young man ran towards her and hugged her tightly. He was slightly taller, his head reposing on hers. When his slender arms held her, it was Lily's turn to be surprised. Why would he hugged her suddenly?

His embrace wasn't uncomfortable. It felt like she had reached home. That he was family. The feeling was quite novel to her. In her new state, there was never a moment where she had felt home. This was the first time. Somehow, she was feeling like a prodigal mom who had abandoned her son all those years and now was returning.

After long minutes, he finally let her go and looked at her very attentively.

"Young mistress must have suffered a lot! Do not worry, I will do everything I can to help cure Young Mistress "

Then his face darkened with worry unexpectedly. His eyes were full of panic.

"How is it possible?! Not only has Young Mistress forgot who she was, but she also had lost all her powers?"

Before Lily could say anything, the young man raised his hands and from the palm of each hand, a white light ball was formed. He then walked around while waving his hands, and soon, Lily was fully englobed in that pure white light. She closed her eyes. There was no pain, it was actually very comfortable, as if she was sun basking on a summer day. It lasted for awhile.

When she opened her eyes again, she could only see the disappointed face of the young man. His eyes even more redder, with now some pearls of water at the corner of his eyes. He bit his bottom lip, looked at her some more, before lowering his head.

"I …I…am so…sorry…I wasn't able to do anything…My healing light power is not strong enough"

Lily was once again startled. HEALING LIGHT POWER? In which world did she end up? If Lily wasn't aware that she was dreaming, she now was because she definitely could not accept this as reality.

"Wait young man, I wasn't expecting you to do anything, no need to be so depressed. Besides, now that you have hugged me, I would very much like to know what is your name?"

Before he could answer, the sky had turned dark and Lily could hear thunder, while lightning could be seen.

"Young Mistress, you should leave now. The Master had returned and he doesn't seem to be in a good mood. In your state, it's better for Young Mistress to avoid him. Here is a talisman for Young Mistress."

The young man shuffled a jade talisman in her, waved his hand and…Lily woke up again in her bed.

The sun was already high in the sky. What kind of dream was that? So strange. So realistic. She then remembered the jade talisman! Lily took her hands out but as expected there was nothing in them.

At that moment, a ray of light hit her eyes and so, she raised her left hand to block the light.

That's when she noticed the strange pattern on her hand. It seemed light was flowing through her hand, highlighting the pattern. A pale pink lotus. This was the first time she noticed such an exquisite drawing on her hand. Was it linked to her dream? When Lily lowered her hand, the pink lotus disappeared. Her hand looked normal again.

Oh boy...her life was getting weirder and weirder by the minute. Another puzzle to solve?
