Larger Than Life, Bigger Than Us

Chapter 36 - Trivial pursuit

The vehicle was still running without care. At first the road seemed smooth but as time went by, the road became much bumpier. For a long moment, that seemed to last an eternity, everything came to an halt. By then, Lily had given up the idea anyone could hear her and was just waiting for the right opportunity to either attack her kidnapper or run.

She heard some noises and braced herself to meet her kidnappers.

She felt a pair of large hands taking her out of the trunk and throwing her away on the ground without care. She was trying to act as much as possible like a dead body, so she didn't move neither made a sound.

She suddenly felt a cold blade piercing her shoulder going through all the way. Blood started gushing out as soon as the blade retired from her body. It was too sudden and unexpected. Lily couldn't endure the pain so she fainted. The blade kept entering and exiting her body at diverse points. When Lily came back to her, the pain was even more intense but now she could hear 2 voices. So she didn't dare make any noises in the event, they really wanted to kill her.

"What do we do next?"

"We leave her here. There is no path for her to survive"

"Shouldn't we make sure she dies before leaving?"

"No, her orders are to torture her by leaving her with no means of survival in the most dangerous location of the country : The forest of no return. We slashed her body and stabbed multiple times. She is still tied up and won't be able to move. As soon as we leave, savage beasts will come out and eat her alive." The voice laughed.

"Our mistress is truly evil and cruel. Let's go now, our job is accomplished"

Hearing those words sentencing her to death, Lily cursed the fate that would let her die before she recover any of her memories.

Now that the 2 people had left, Lily tried to uncover her eyes. However, every move she made the pain she felt only worse. But if she didn't do anything she would die like this unjustly. Biting her lips as hard as she could, move her head on the ground, she managed to uncover her eyes.

She was really in the Forest of the no return. The sun was still out, so she could see the purple leaves of the trees, which was the main characteristic of the forest. Still she wasn't despairing yet, she prepared herself for another wave of pain, while she moved her body toward a sharp rock she had seen. Her wounds were still bleeding, seeping in the ground. Lily could feel her lifeforce escaping from her body. She gathered the last of her strength... But before she could do anything, the shadow of a winged being covered her body. She raised her head to see...but fainted again.

This time, Lily really believed she had died.
