Larger Than Life, Bigger Than Us

Tonight was the debutante's bal. In country C, every 3 years, there would be a bal to introduce young talented women to society. One didn't need to have money, though that would help, as long as you were recognized as a talent and sponsored or mentored either by a great organization or great individuals, you would be given the opportunity to debut. However, the number of debutantes were limited and there was only 2 way to debut: either purchase a ticket or go through the selection process and be given a ticket.

Even though Iris and Lily had debuted the same year, Iris had bought her ticket and Lily had won hers. Iris was still bitter that, despite all her schemes, Lily had managed to be crowned Queen of the bal. She resented her half-sister so much, it was consuming her whole soul.

But tonight was different, even though she was no longer a debutante, she could still be crowned Queen of the night.

Iris's face was distorted by an arrogant expression of self-satisfaction. Her companion was oblivious to her dark thoughts and thus had not seen her expression. His mind was completely preoccupied by Lily's disappearance.

She had been gone for months now and nobody knew where she was. He had got some information that she would attend the bal and that was the sole reason he was accompanying Iris. As a male, unless he was part of the VIP list or accompanying a guest, there is no way he could have joined the bal.

Iris as a previous debutante and sister of a previous Queen was among the guests of honours of the night. In preparation of the event, she had spent the whole day at the spa, pampering her body and face. Her dress had already been chosen months ago. It was a long, adjusted dress with golden lace. On the right side of the dress was slit which would bring attention to her long and lean legs. The back of the dress was uncovered until her lower back.

It was a temptress's dress, definitely not suitable for a debutante. A dress to seduce men but most importantly THE man : Jun Wan, Lily's incredible fiancé, heir of a one of the largest corporation in country C. Iris was extremely confident she would be able to ensnared Jun with her charms tonight. Besides, she would not hesitate to use external help to achieve her goals.

As she was preparing to enter the event, Iris could not contained her joy. She held the man's arms and together they entered the bal.
