The next morning, Lucia and I woke up a couple minutes later than we usually did.

Mostly because neither of us really wanted to leave the warmth of Lucia’s bed just to go and listen to some boring lectures that neither of us cared for.

Nonetheless, we decided to get out of bed anyway, as neither of us really wanted to get an earful from our teachers about skipping class either.

“Ugh, why couldn’t today have been a holiday?”

Lucia said with a smidge of annoyance present in her voice after begrudgingly loosening her grip on my shirt and yawning a little.

“I don’t really get it either, I mean there’s bound to be at least one historical event that’s worth commemorating today right?”

“That’s what I’m saying! But every time I’ve written to the headmaster about it, I’ve gotten no response in return.”

“You went that far, just to try and get an extra day off? And here I was thinking that I was desperate for days off.”

“Oh, be quiet. The letters didn’t take too long to write, and besides, I’m pretty sure you’ve done a lot more just to skip a class or two.”

Lucia remarked, then she grabbed her hazel sweater off the coat rack next to her drawer and slipped it on.

“Fair enough. Though, I’m pretty certain none of my attempts to skip class failed, unlike yours.”

I said while having a slightly smug expression on my face.

In response, Lucia simply rolled her eyes, then walked over to her bathroom, which was about the size of a walk-in closet.

In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s why most of the dorms here don't have a walk-in closet in the first place.

A few moments after Lucia entered her bathroom, she walked out again with a toothbrush and a slightly soggy washcloth.

“What’s that for?”

I asked, curiously.

“It’s so that you don’t have to go all the way back to your dorm in order to just freshen up. Oh and you can use my toothpaste as well.”

“Well, isn’t that nice of you.”

“Otto, I shared my bed with you last night, I’m pretty sure this is a step down from that.”

Lucia said dismissively after squinting her eyes at me a little.

“Whatever.”

I remarked before taking the items from Lucia and walking over to the bathroom.

It was definitely far tidier and more colorful compared to my own bathroom.

Probably because I never really bothered trying to organize my bathroom nor cared that much about its state, just so long as it was somewhat functional and at least slightly cleaner than a public one.

“I’m gonna have to clean up my washroom a little, if I don’t want to hear about it from Lucia in the future. Aren’t I?”

I mused before pasting some of Lucia’s toothpaste onto my toothbrush and sticking it into my mouth.

And for some odd reason, Lucia’s toothpaste tasted a bit sweeter compared to my own, despite the fact that they were exactly the same flavor according to the label.

Maybe, it’s because her toothpaste is dyed a slightly different color compared to mine.

Or perhaps it could just be that I’m using Lucia’s toothbrush and not my own right now…

I mean… it wouldn’t be the first time she’s made my brain go haywire.

A few minutes later I finished brushing my teeth.

Afterward, I quickly washed my face and then left the bathroom.

“Took you long enough.”

Lucia said, the second she saw me leave the bathroom.

“That’s rich coming from someone who spends hours agonizing over which bookmark they want to use.”

I replied after stretching my arms a little.

“Whatever. And speaking of our reading habits, don’t forget that we need to win a competition today during lunch, otherwise it’ll get harder for us to get our hands on some decent reading material.”

“It’s gonna be incredibly hard for me to forget something like that, with you around.”

“Never hurts to be too safe. Last time I neglected to remind somebody about something obvious, my room ended up not having any floorboards for a whole week.”

“Well, when you put it like that… is there anything else I need to be reminded of before we go to class?”

I asked while putting on my brown shoes.

“Hmm… not that I know of.”

“That’s a relief-“

“Oh wait, actually there is one thing...”

“What is it?”

“I’ll tell you after you close your eyes.”

Lucia said playfully.

“Okay?”

I replied with a bit of confusion in my voice before shutting my eyes closed.

The moment I had closed my eyes, I felt Lucia’s lips come in contact with my own.

To say that I enjoyed the sensation would be an understatement.

“Wha-”

I mumbled, reeling from the kiss I was just given.

“Just needed to remind you that you’re my boyfriend and mine alone.”

Lucia said with a sly smile on her face after tapping my forehead with her own.

“As if I could forget something like that...”

“Again, it never hurts to be too safe...”

Lucia replied before clearing her throat.

“…Anyway, we should probably get going now unless you for some reason want us to each get a lecture about the merits of being on time from our respective teachers.”

“Yeah, that sounds good to me. And uh I know we usually walk to our classes alone but would you like me to walk you to class before I go to mine today?”

“What kind of question is that, Otto? Of course I fuckin would.”

Lucia replied without any hesitation present in her voice while putting on her shoes.

“Even though, according to you, I'm a terrible navigator?”

“Who said that you’d be doing all the navigating?”

Lucia asked in a caustic tone after interlocking her arm with my own.

“In that case, shall we get going now?”

“I don’t see why not.”

Lucia said after she increased her grip on my arm and then started to walk the both of us in the direction of the Abjuration classroom.
