Legendary Shadow

Chapter 104 - Pokemon Raid

After winning the match Gary fell to his knees as he started crying because he had just become the champion and a day later, he was dethroned. Gary got over it quickly after his grandpa came in the room. Professor Oak was shocked to see Gary in a defeated state as he told him to keep his head up and that he has come far and that it's not shameful to lose against Liam.

Gary recovered from his depression after thinking about it. He knew Liam was supposed to be a champion in the first place, so he quickly gathered himself and decided that he was going to move on to the next region to get stronger in order to defeat Liam one day fair and square.

Liam thanked him for the great battle and told Gary to keep working hard and that one day he would be able to achieve his wishes as they separated and moved on to the next plan.

Professor Oak registered Liam and his Pokémon in the champions registry after he asked whether he wanted to stick around. Liam shook his head and told him that he's heading to Johto next. This surprised Professor Oak since he had some business with Professor Elm, he wanted Liam to deliver a message to him since he was going to that region. Oak had also come to ask the new champion to go help out at a small town that had gotten reports that a Pokémon raid was about to begin, and he wanted that to be a test for Liam to get stronger.

In a few years, the National Regional Championship would be coming, and he wanted the Kanto region to take it all. After Professor Oak gave Liam all the details of the town that he'll stay for a few weeks, Liam thanked Professor Oak and headed home. He wanted to go and visit his mother Marie before doing anything else. He stopped by Pallet Town for a few days and relaxed before he made his way down to Cinnabar Island to pick up his two Pokémon Kabuto and Omanyte.

When Liam got to Cinnabar Island, Blaine had noticed him right away and came to greet him. They had some fun together before Liam went to pick up his Pokémon. The scientists were happy that they were able to achieve 100% revival because they have been failing for a while, but this time they finally got it right and were able to revive the two fossil Pokémon. Liam took the two poke balls and left.

Once he got outside, he released the two Pokémon Kabuto and Omanyte. As they finally saw their trainer, they were acting shy around Liam, Liam brought out Eevee to calm them down as they started playing around with Eevee. They left cinnabar Island after a day and went back to Pallet Town. While Liam was home with the other Pokémon they were just relaxing and getting to know each other.

Kabuto was still very shy but Omanyte was very bold as he started getting along with all the other Pokémon. Omanyte's favorite Pokémon that he was hanging around with the most was Dragonite. While Kabuto stuck around with Liam and Eeevee mostly due to his shy nature. Liam's mother was so happy that Liam was around more, she threw a small party and had a small celebration to celebrate his victory and being the champion. Even though not a lot of people showed up, like most of his friends because they all had moved on and went to the Johto region before him, they still had fun, especially the Pokémon.

The pokemon enjoyed all the food that they were getting since Liam was not the one cooking it. The day came when Liam had to leave his mother. She didn't want to let him go but he had to leave for the mission that the Pokémon League had assigned to him. This time, he was supposed to go and protect a town from a Pokémon raid. The town was called Time Town.

A mystical Pokémon with the power of time was supposed to be protecting it but it had disappeared centuries ago and hadn't been seen since then. Now, the League had close eyes on it due to the resources that it provided, otherwise they wouldn't risk anybody's lives to go and protect it, especially a potential future champion of the world. Liam said his goodbyes as he hopped on Shadow and flew out of Pallet Town making his way towards Time Town which was near Fuschia City.

When he got there, he met up with the town Chief and started to discuss the plan to defend the town. The Chief was surprised to see that the League had sent somebody so young and was a little annoyed. He wanted to have a battle with Liam to see if he would qualify to save the town from this hardship, so he tells Liam that he wanted to test him as he sent out his Pokémon Slowking who was only a level 60.

Liam sent out his Dragonite to deal with this Pokémon. When the Chief saw Dragonite, he immediately started respecting Liam because not everybody can train a dragon and especially one that was as young as Liam. Dragonite made quick work of Slowking by using thunderbolt. Slowking tried to block using a defensive move but the attack crashed right through the defensive wall that he had created with his psychic powers and shocked him until he fainted.

The Chief was now convinced that Liam was powerful enough to fight this battle with them and started to be more confident and revealed more of the defensive tactics that they had planned for this raid. The Chief told Liam that the raid should start within a week and that he should get prepared for it because the Pokémon that were coming were quite strong.

They had a mix of mountain, forest and sky Pokémon. Liam thought it was a good opportunity to train his new Pokémon Kabuto and Omanyte. He wanted them to get ready for this battle, because he wanted them to see how gruesome the world could be and how they needed to get stronger in order to not only protect the trainer but themselves too.
