Love Will Lead You Back

Chapter 22 - 22 Wedding Day

Gu Feng announced the engagement without realising Cheng Ze was no longer there, however, Lori knew he went to see Li Wei but she didn't know he left with him. The engagement was announced without Cheng Ze and people were looking around to see him but he didn't go up to the stage, so Lori took the microphone from Gu Feng and smiled before she announced that something important had come up and he had to go immediately but he had told her as he left. Gu Feng knew Lori was covering for him. Meiling held her husband as he was trying to hold his anger, he felt like killing his own son right now. Aside from Cheng Ze not being there and with the explanation Lori gave, everything went well. As far as everyone was concerned, Lori and Cheng Ze were now engaged.

5:00 pm at St. Paul's Cathedral

Ji An looked gorgeous on her ivory wedding dress, she looked like a real-life princess who is about to get married to her prince charming. The luxurious design was made by a famous designer who was friends with Eric. The wedding dress was a scoop neck design and the sleeves were made half as Ji An wanted to cover her front for a conservative look while her back was backless to show off her curves and for the s.e.xy look. She didn't mind that Eric wanted her to have a backless wedding dress, after all, it will be covered by her veil making it okay for her. The beads were replaced with Swarovski crystals and some diamond details are added from the original design and it can be seen glimmering as the light hits them. Her veil was very soft and long making her look like a princess. Her make up were just right as the makeup team Eric had for her were all top-notch people. He only wants the best for Ji An, his wife.

She didn't really want those crystals and diamond details because she opted for a no beads or gems design, but Eric insisted on it. He wanted her to be the most beautiful bride in the most beautiful and expensive wedding dress watched and admired by a lot of people.

The wedding march started and he entered the cathedral to walk down the aisle first. He was excited, nervous, happy and satisfied all at the same time, he will wait for her at the front. His parents followed and were behind him and then her maid of honour Alice walked in next. Pairs of bridesmaids and groomsmen walked the aisle together followed by the flower girls throwing petals down the aisle. Everyone was now inside and they are all waiting for Ji An to walk down the aisle. As she walked in alone holding her white bouquet of flowers, all the people who saw her adored and gave their compliments quietly. Her smile was contagious making all the guest smile, she really looked like a happy bride.

Before she reached Eric, she looked at him and gave him a very warm loving smile. As he returned his smile to her, it wasn't Eric she saw but Cheng Ze. Her smile dissipated and made her stopped walking. 'What is wrong with me?'

Eric noticed that something was up with her. He walked to where she was and took her hand and placed it on his. His action woke Ji An up from her daydream about the man that was on her head and heart.

With a smile on his face, Eric asked her, "Are you okay?" they continued to walk to the altar.

Ji An shrugged her thoughts and smiled back at him, "Yeah, I'm okay. I just remembered my mum. That's all!" Few more steps and they were at the altar where they will take their vows for each other.

Their wedding ceremony started and Cheng Ze's plane just landed. There was too much air traffic as there was an emergency landing earlier and they had to wait. He didn't allow for such an incident so now they will have to catch up on the road and he has to make it and stop her wedding.

The priest asked, "Are there any objections? Speak now or forever hold your peace." Ji An looked back, in her mind she was wishfully thinking Cheng Ze would come and object, upon realising her thoughts, she smiled, even if he did come, there was nothing he could do, after all, they were already married.

Eric saw she looked back, he smiled at her warily. "Are you waiting for someone to object?" His smile was nervous when he asked her and it didn't leave his face, he was scared that she might actually be waiting for someone else and leave him there for another man.

Ji An smiled and chuckled, "No! Of course not. I'm just making sure no one will crash our wedding that's all." She tried to bury her remaining feelings for Cheng Ze as it won't be fair for Eric. This is their wedding and she must make her husband happy.

They exchanged their vows and put their rings on, promised each other to love and to hold till death do they part. The priest announced, "You may now kiss your bride." Everybody applauded and they were all happy for the newlywed couple.

Outside St Paul's Cathedral, Cheng Ze just arrived. As he was making his way to enter the Cathedral, he stopped in his tracks as the doors of the Cathedral opened wide, he waited there and already knew he was probably 25 minutes too late. The couple came out, and the wedding bells rang, the woman in her wedding gown was indeed his Ji An smiling brightly in the arms of a different man, she looked so happy while he felt crushed and lonely as if his whole world collapsed in that instance.

The guest followed and throw flowers petals at the couple who looked very happy. Ji An didn't even notice him. He travelled from Beijing and left his own engagement for this? It's unacceptable! While he stared at them, watching how happy they looked and his heart was bleeding, he called his assistant who was just behind him, "Li Wei if you can pull this one off, I will give you a very generous pay. And I mean... a very generous pay!"

"What is it, boss?" Li Wei asked as he stood behind him feeling the pain of his boss. All he can do to somehow comfort him is to follow his orders, whatever it is.

His eyes never left them, "Follow them to the reception. I know we don't have an invitation, but knowing Ji An she cannot reject a friend who wanted to see her and we will use that to our advantage. Tell the security that you are Ji An's friend from Beijing and had travelled to be here for her but doesn't have an invitation, if it reaches Ji An, she will come out."

Li Wei swallowed his saliva, another challenging task for him, "Boss... I will try. Where should I take her if I succeeded?"

"To the same hotel where you took her first time, same room!" Just like that, he left and entered their car.

'How am I going to do this now!? I will really end up in jail because of him, but I have to do this for him! She shouldn't see me though, she might recognise me and I will definitely be in trouble, how can I lure her out?' Li Wei thought as he stood there watching the married couple and the guests. As he thought of something, he took his phone out and called someone, Li Wei hired some people to act as a friend of Ji An and called for a driver for the getaway car and two bodyguards to hold on to her.

The bride and the groom have arrived. Ji An was wearing her wedding dress without the veil. Everyone welcome them with warm smiles and applause. People congratulate them and everybody was enjoying the party. The couple danced and sliced their wedding cake, drank their wine and danced with the guest.

Around 11 pm, one of the waitresses approached Ji An, "Excuse me Mrs Lewis, someone was looking for you outside. She said she came all the way from Beijing to see you but she doesn't have an invitation. Security won't let her in." Ji An replied with a simple "okay."
