Loving With My Mind

Chapter 4 - Eggs for Fertility

Soon, the day of ting hun arrived.

Sang hee can be seen on the decor, gifts, cakes and others. Everything is set.

Madam Zhao is originally from Country H so she had her ting hun, although for this one, she herself deemed that it should be modernized.

Han Yixin was wearing a red modernized qipao gown, with multicolored embroidery of flowers at the bodice and a chiffon fishtail skirt. She was forced by her parents to wear contact lenses for the celebration so her full-rimmed glasses were nowhere to be found. Her dark hair was styled in a low braided bun with flower headdress. Her face, which is usually devoid of makeup had been glammed up, concentrating on her eyes, while keeping her lips on the nude side. She looked elegant and sophisticated without looking too m.a.t.u.r.e.

Zhao Mingzhe, looking dapper himself in his gray suit and wine red tie, looked at his fiancé as she served tea to his family. He realized that her face is easy on the eyes. Not bad at all.

Without her glasses, her facial features can stand out. Her chinky eyes are expressive, her nose is slim and tall, while her lips are fuller relative to her lineage. Her skin is fair and smooth and she had a widow's peak. He noted that their children will have this on their hairline too.

Too bad she might not like them existing. His eyes looked determined. He cannot let that happen.

Then the gifts were presented.

The both of them behaved well throughout, although their smiles almost cracked when the host explained one of the gifts.

"Lastly, eggs for fertility. We wish Young Master and Young Madam Zhao a bundle of joy soon after the wedding!" Everyone clapped for the couple.

Their parents have excited smiles as well.

"Wow, it came true too fast..." Zhao Mingzhe did not let the chance to tease his future wife as he whispered.

"You and your big mouth!" she scolded through gritted teeth. She had to keep her smile for their pretense.

"Don't worry. There's something else that's not small."

And it happened. Her smile vanished and she glared at him.

"Xiao Xin..." Li Qiaolian suddenly appeared before them before Han Yixin could hit her fiancé in front of the crowd.

"Mom..." was all she got to say.

"Can I borrow your fiancé for awhile? It'll just be for a short time. Don't be mad..." Li Qiaolian winked at her daughter and dragged her future son-in-law out to the veranda.

"I'm not..." Before Han Yixin could protest, her mother took away her fiancé. She brushed it off and let them be. At most, her mother would tell him embarrassing things about her. No big deal. She was determined not to live with him after all.

Earlier, she saw her Yixin broke her smile and it looked like her future son-in-law could get into trouble in any second.

"Woah...that was a close one!" Li Qiaolian heaved a sigh of relief.

If the people in the party did not know that she is Madam Han, they would think that the older sister of the bride took the groom away.

She looked really youthful in her emerald qipao which ended at her ankles. The gold and red embroidery were exquisite. Her young-looking face and fair skin were adorned by a jade jewelry set. Her makeup looked natural and her hair is tied up to a clean bun.

"Mingzhe...can I call you Mingzhe?" she became hesitant.

"Sure...Madam Han, I..." Zhao Mingzhe was confused. Will she be scolding him?

She chuckled. "You can start calling me 'Mom' too." She had a gentle smile.

She walked towards the railing of the veranda and gently rested her arms on it. Then she looked towards the vast cityscape full of different lights in the night.

Of course, Zhao Mingzhe could not immediately call her 'Mom'. Since he did not know how to call out to her, he followed her and stood before the railing beside her, keeping distance of a couple of feet away.

"Mingzhe, I would like to apologize for my daughter for what just happened and for her future faults." She had a regretful smile she flashed at him, then she looked back at the view. "Xiao Xin...she is a good kid...but she likes to do things on her own."

She looked at him again. "Mingzhe, we were wrong to protect her too much. It was too suffocating, so she wanted to break free...and we actually broke our promise this time." She looked away to hide her brimming tears.

He just listened in, waiting for her to explain further.

"Mingzhe, since you will soon be family, we believe it is only right for you to know...all about our Yixin. When she was only three years old, our Yixin was kidnapped when we went to a tropical island in the Pacific. We were looking for a place to develop into a resort back then. She was held by a nanny as we walked around the island as I cannot do so for I was pregnant back then."

Zhao Mingzhe furrowed his brows. Han Yixin has only one sibling, and she is only five years old right now. However, he kept his mouth shut to let her continue.

Madam Han sensed that he thought something was off but she continued her story. "When we reached the highest elevation of the island, we noticed that she and the nanny were gone. Then...then we heard a motorboat's engine running. Soon, a boat was seen speedily moving away from the island. We were mortified. My husband quickly tried to descend the area but was too late to catch up to the motorboat. I was in such distress that I bled out. My husband was helpless. He can only take me to the hospital first before searching for her, and still we lost the baby. We managed to save her somehow with the ransom money and the police caught the culprits. However, that turned our love for her into a cage."

She sighed. "We were only aware when she let out all her emotions one day, and declared to us that she was accepted to study abroad, and that we were not allowed to visit."

Zhao Mingzhe looked down. That cold and heartless woman is actually from all this.

"Thus we can only see her when she herself decides to visit. At my most depressed time, we had Lingxi, our youngest. She helped me cope up. We were okay for Yixin to be away. She was happy on her own. Now, she might really hate us for bringing her back."

He looked solemn. This marriage would be another cage for her. It is all his fault. If he did not agree, she would not have been forced to come back.
