Loving With My Mind

Chapter 3 - See You Then

The next morning, Zhao Mingzhe slowly opened his eyes to the blinding morning sun.

After he did, he noticed that he was alone on the large bed and his outstretched arm supports nothing, contrary to the position last night.

"Han Yixin?" He got up from bed.

After finding the small room empty, he went downstairs.

As he descended the staircase, he could smell the aroma of food.

He instinctively went to the kitchen.

There he saw her, with an apron on, swiftly chopping an onion.

He sneakily sat on a bar stool facing the kitchen island. He placed an elbow on the countertop and supported his chin with his hand.

He watched as she was sautéing on a nonstick pan.

Such a sight...waking up every morning with your wife cooking simple breakfast for you.

As his mind was thinking this, he was startled when she suddenly splashed wine from a bottle and the pan was blazing.

"Woah...hey, can you really do that?!" He bolted from his seat and dashed towards her. Ready to check for burns.

She turned towards him, looking a bit sleepy. "Huh?" Her glasses were even slightly misaligned.

However, as if having a mind of its own, her hand continued working on the pan, even tossing the contents in the air.

"Hey, are you even awake?" He scratched his head.

"Hmmn." She nodded absentmindedly and transferred the meat dish on a porcelain plate.

She took a towel and wiped the pan. Then she started putting in minced garlic, toasting them a bit, then adding cooked rice.

"Hey, where did you get the ingredients?"

"They stocked up the pantry and the fridge." she casually replied.

She turned down the heat and went to get another chopping board.

She took carrots, mangoes and bananas. She quickly peeled and chopped everything and dumped them in a blender. She then added some yoghurt.

'Wow...' he thought. Did she not say that she still needed to learn how to cook?

As the blender does it work, she went back to her pan, tossed the rice then placed it on a bowl.

She wiped the pan again and half-filled it with water. Then to his surprise, she added vinegar.

He was about to object when she swiftly added eggs.

After about ten more minutes, dishes started to be laid on the dining table.

With great appetite, he sat down on the wooden chair with cushion, the table filled with dishes being illuminated by ambient light from the windows.

As she sat beside him, she laid a basket with cloth filled with croissants.

He looked at her with a serious expression on his face. He regretted not looking through the data he received from his parents about this wife-to-be. It seemed they had chosen well.

He thought that it was not too bad to wake up to something like this.

Aside from the yoghurt smoothie, there was a pot of brewed tea and the glass pot of the coffee maker is also half filled.

When he reached out to his porcelain cup, as if she was given a new breath of life, she reached out to place the pots in front of him.

"What would you have, tea or coffee?" she attentively asked.

He was surprised how she is acting like a good wife already. This is a great contrast against the woman who despised his touch yesterday.

"Are you expecting other people to come over? You made too much food..." He eyed all the dishes.

"Tea or coffee?" she repeated.

'This guy is so full of himself.' she thought.

He cleared his throat. "Coffee."

She meticulously poured coffee into his cup, then she placed the fresh milk and sugar near.

She sternly watched how much he added to his coffee and memorized them.

His face became serious. "Han Yixin."

She looked up from the cup towards his face. Her glasses are supported by the tip of her nose. She instinctively lifted it by pushing up the area of the frame supporting the left lens using the pads of her fingers.

He sighed. "Let me re-introduce myself. I am Zhao Mingzhe, twenty-eight. I am a licensed airline transport pilot. I hold 15% of LZ Airlines total shares. My schedule is usually tight, but the chairman granted me with a long vacation leave. I have no known allergies and is not picky with food." He eyed her dishes then looked back at her. "For past relationsh.i.p.s, I had been in a long term intimate relationship with a flight attendant until a year ago. It ended when she quit the company and was hired by another airline. I had not been with anyone since then. I only had one previous relationship. From time-to-time, she keeps in touch, but I always kept things civil and myself polite." He waited for her reaction.

She nodded as her face became solemn. 'So he had a past relationship that still seems hung up on him.' she thought.

She gulped before she introduced herself. "I am Han Yixin, twenty-five. I have a degree in culinary arts and I majored in pastry arts. For six months, I worked under HL International's Hotels and Villas in Country F as a senior executive for event catering. My parents brought me back before the completion of our year-long agreement of letting me work without the knowledge that we own the company for the reason of the upcoming marriage. I intend to go back once the wedding is done, so you don't have to worry about living with me. For past relationsh.i.p.s, I have zero so please manage your expectations."

"Oh..." His face looked like she had piqued his interest. "What if they put a pressure for us to have children?" He laid the matter in the open.

"Mr. Zhao, I don't want children." Her face was dead serious.

"You'll have an abortion if I get you pregnant?" His brows knitted. Even if there is no love between them, they still needed to consummate their marriage. If she gets pregnant, he will not allow her to kill his child.

"I will do what I have to do." She looked heartless.

The cozy feeling she made him felt when she cooked breakfast for him vanished.

"I will not let you kill our child." His stern look is frightening.

"You think you can get me pregnant?" Her voice was challenging.

Before he could retaliate, they heard horn beeps from outside the house.

"That's my ride. I'll see you at the Ting hun then." She stood up and strode away, shutting the front door behind her.

She rode the car which speedily went away.

He remained seated before the dining table.

'So they gave me a challenge.' he thought as he smirked.
