Married To A What?!

Chapter 24 - The Busy Hunter

For the next few weeks, Itachi got to see lesser and lesser of Kurama. The fox demon would always leave before he woke up with breakfast and bento ready for him, drop by work for a quick kiss or some teasing banters then leave again and return late at night when Itachi was asleep. The CEO only knew that the fox demon ever returned home because he would spot long strands of red hair on his pillow even though the spot beside him was always cold by the time his alarm went off.

The Uchiha was beginning to think that Kurama wasn't serious about it and was only using him as a fling but when he went to Sasuke about it, his younger brother only told him that it was a fox's thing. naruto assured him that his brother would never pay half as much attention to anyone else and even Naruto doesn't get to see Kurama as often as Itachi did. He only saw the red-haired fox once every few years and it wouldn't be full of such tenderness.

"Kurama doesn't cook," is what Naruto told Itachi when the CEO commented about the constant meal preparation plans. He didn't know how the hunter fox knew his preferences because nobody, not even Sasuke, knew that he wasn't a fan of steak. Although he didn't get to see cabbage rolls, they were very high on the list of frequently packed in his bento. There will never be a shortage of seaweed wrapped onigiri and Itachi wondered if Kurama was having fun surprising him every day with different fillings inside. The most surprising one so far was nacho cheese with bacon bits. Naruto said that it was a fox thing to want to take care of their mates.

Sasuke didn't say anything to his brother because he didn't want Itachi freaking out. Naruto had put it too casually. While it was a fox thing to care for their mates, Kurama wasn't only doing this to pamper Itachi. He was doing it because trouble was brewing. Kurama might not have involved Naruto but the golden kit could smell hostile demons in the area. Even the werewolves were patrolling the city more frequently and Sasuke was afraid that Hagoromo Gitsune might not be the end of their troubles, only the beginning of it all.

Sadly, with Naruto's insatiable libido and all year round heat... there wasn't much Sasuke could do. What could he say? His husband was just too damned irresistible.

When the phone call ended, Sasuke was immediately pulled into a soul-s.u.c.k.i.n.g kiss.

"We're out of c.o.n.d.o.ms..."

Naruto growled with a frown. "F.u.c.k it. We'll figure things out if I get pregnant. Right now, I want you inside of me..."

Sasuke swallowed hard and had to restrain himself from ripping the damned jeans off his s.e.xy fox. They had classes in an hour and the younger Uchiha prayed that they would make it on time if they hurried. It was a tough lesson to learn but Sasuke now knew better. There was no stopping his golden fox from getting what he wanted. Sometimes, he just had to give in to those whims but who was to say he couldn't enjoy them too?

With that, Sasuke threw Naruto over his shoulder and carried the fox into the bedroom.

Kakashi studied the map laid out on the table. Kurama lit a cigarette with foxfire and let the nicotine do its work. From the information that the pups gathered, Danzo didn't have a very huge force to attack them with. The numbers were less than ten and very painfully amateurish apart from a very skilful mage by the name of Kabuto.

"Do we have any mages?" The hunter asked and Kakashi sighed.

"I do know of one but she's going to be hard to convince. That old lady prefers to hide in seclusion and not get involved with anything... also, she's an alcoholic and a terrible gambler with a mountain of debts..."

"If I pay off her debts can you get her to help us get rid of the mage?"

Kakashi laughed hollowly. "Do you have a hundred thousand dollars to spare? Even if I own the werewolf clan, I don't have that much money..."

Kurama raised a brow. "The Uchiha brothers are rich. Just borrow some."

The werewolf deadpanned. "It's not that simple."

The red-haired fox barked a laugh. "A hundred thousand dollars? Leave it to me... I'm not the best hunter in my clan for no reason. Just promise me you'll secure that mage at all costs."

Kakashi looked unsure. "I mean I could try to convince the witch but is it really wise to cheat money from your mate?"

The fox demon looked awfully offended at that. "Why would I do that? I would never ask my mate to provide anything more than a home in his arms and his love in return. What do you take us foxes for? I'm gonna charm some sc.u.m and make them leave their change with me. Give me a week and keep more eyes around him. I smell snakes everywhere!"

Kakashi rolled his eyes and gave Kurama his word before booting the hunter fox out. Sometimes, foxes were almost as bad as wolves when it concerned their mates. Still, the threat lurking in their city was dangerous. Kakashi heard about Danzo and he wasn't a fan of that snake. For someone as cautious and calculative as Danzo, coming with just one mage and a few amateurs didn't sound right. Exactly what was his motive?

As Kakashi was trying to figure out what the snakes were up to, Kurama was busy running from place to place. Right now, he was visiting the rabbit clan. If all fails, he would require all the luck blessing he could get. There was only one such person capable of granting luck blessings but she wasn't easy to convince.

Kurama sighed and only hoped that she wasn't going to ask for something impossible to get within a short frame of time. In fact, he didn't want to owe her anything if he could.
