Married To A What?!

Chapter 35 - Give Kurama Back

Gaara arrival at the scene to see Danzo dead and Kakashi battling it out with the Kitsune. The werewolf looked battered up but he continued to defend his line. It was obvious that Kakashi wouldn't last long and the Tanuki carrier wondered where the Hunter was.

"Gaara!" Temari yelled, glad that she managed to catch up to her brother. She was about to tell him the news when the ground shook, causing her to slip.

Gaara was there in a flash as he caught Temari and got them both to safety. "What's going on?" he asked. "Why aren't you with Itachi?"

Temari explained the gist of the situation and Gaara's eyes widened in shock. For Danzo to seal Kurama away... just how long had he been planning the attack for? Wait a minute, if the seal couldn't possibly be planned for Kurama. Danzo would never exchange his life to seal away a mere Hunter. If there was someone he would drag to the depths of hell, it would be Hagoromo Gitsune.

"Call Grandma Chiyo," he told Temari.

Grandma Chiyo was the Tanuki clan's mage and elder. It was said that Chiyo was one of the two founders. Chiyo and her elder sister first ascended to become Tanuki spirits and the clan grew from there. Besides being a powerful mage, Grandma Chiyo was also known to be the previous Tanuki carrier. Unlike the fox clan, the tanuki clan pass the spirit of the Tanuki down to their successors through a ritual. It was a soul binding ritual and only the most powerful mage can perform it. From what Gaara understood, Danzo sealed Kurama away but the Hunter wasn't dead yet. When foxes die, their soul bond mates will also die from excruciating pain. Itachi was still alive from what he knew so there was no way Kurama was dead.

Temari wasted no time and hurried back to the demon world to find Grandma Chiyo while Gaara talked to the great spirit in his body. To stop the Kitsune from going on a massacre, the Tanuki had to play peacemaker. Kakashi was losing grip on his ancestor's power with the amount of damage he received. However, he saw that Gaara was getting ready to intercept so the alpha held on for a little longer.

When the Kitsune swung out another tail to Kakashi, the alpha readied himself to block it but to his surprise, there was no pain. Gaara who had fused with the Tanuki spirit was beside him at once and caught the tail. It was a phenomenal sight even for the werewolf who'd seen many strange things in his life.

The Tanuki head was completely encased in living sand like a full-body armour. His eyes turned narrow and completely black with only yellow irises. The werewolf allowed himself to fall back and escape the battlefield.

As the adrenaline and spell wore out, Kakashi felt light-headed from the blood loss. Everything hurt too much and he didn't know if he would make it even after Gaara arrived. There were no healers near him after all. Still, while fading in and out of consciousness, the werewolf witnessed the most spectacular fight between the Tanuki and the Kitsune.

The Kitsune attacked with everything he had while the Tanuki defended without even moving from his spot. The mountain was destroyed but the demons didn't go anywhere near the city. Gaara was skilful in spotting the attacks while Naruto was still in a state of frenzy. Kakashi was too far away to see or hear it but throughout the exchange, Gaara was talking to Naruto, appealing to his subconscious.

It was when Kakashi was losing the battle when he saw the first signs of Gaara's interference prove fruitful. The Kitsune was crying as he yelled out in a distorted Naruto voice.

"Give Kurama back!"

Grandma Chiyo came back with Temari to the dreadful scene and spotted a half dying Kakashi. She told her granddaughter to find some healers. All three boys will require medical attention once she was done. For now, the high mage cast a sleep spell over the exhausted werewolf and healed his more life-threatening wounds. She walked over steadily to where Gaara and Naruto were battling.

It was weird seeing a frail old lady calmly walking into the disaster zone where neither spirit carriers were relenting. Gaara was the first to notice Grandma Chiyo and faltered slightly when he saw the unhappy frown on her wrinkled face. That slight distraction earned him a hard smack in the face by one of Naruto's tails. Gaara cussed. The Kitsune had way too many tails and he only had two arms!

"Enough!" Chiyo shouted and that caused shockwaves, shaking the ground and trees in the mountain.

Gaara clutched his head as the shout caused some splitting headache, the same happened with Naruto and the hold of the Kitsune in him weakened momentarily. Grandma Chiyo wasted no time and quickly slammed her staff into the ground. A complicated magic circle flashed brightly and encompassed the entire mountain.

The mountain started to repair itself and the two demons were forced back into their normal selves. Instead of checking on her grandson first, Chiyo walked over to the golden fox who now returned to his normal hybrid form. The seal on Naruto's stomach was still an angry red glow so the mage reinforced it and made the Kitsune go back into slumber.

By now, Ino had arrived and gasped at the horrible wounds she saw on Kakashi. Chiyo then wasted no time and told the healer to take care of the situation while she went straight to the werewolf den where Temari was.

Now that the children squabble was resolved, it was time to rescue Kurama.
