Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me

Chapter 39 The Most Beautiful Thing

An Chuxia is aware of Meng Xiaonan’s propensity for sleeping in class, so the moment the teacher turns around to write on the board. Chuxia turns around.

True enough, she catches Meng Xiaonan’s figure droop. In hushed tones, she asks, “What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”

“No, I’m sleepy. Wake me up when class is over.” She lowers her head on to the table to sleep. An Chuxia’s worried Xiaonan will have a crick in her neck when she wakes up.

She shakes her head. If she gave in to the temptation of sleep, she’d have to learn the class on her own.

Chuxia sets her book aside and was reaching for her egg when the physics teacher approaches her.

There aren’t any specific policies regarding eating in the classroom but it is not encouraged. An Chuxia’s hands return to the top of her desk and asks, “Is there anything you need, teacher?”

“No, I just want to make sure you understand the lesson,” he says amiably.

“I recall the formulas from previous lessons, but I don’t know how to string them along in a problem this comprehensive.” She scratches her head in embarrassment.

The teacher waves his hand and says, “That’s normal. All you need is practice. I’ll give you some extra problems to work on. You can come to the office and ask me questions.”

“Okay. Thank you, teacher.”

Finally, the teacher leaves, and An Chuxia reaches for the eggs in her drawer. She looks up and stares at the clock. There’s enough time for her to go to the toilet and give the tea eggs to Qilu if she rushes.

A lot of the students in the class have their heads resting on their desks. God, they should’ve known that this is a first period class!

Oh, yes, the toilet! She needs to hurry.

She walks toward the door and sees Fei Lixiya heading out. “An Chuxia, are you heading to the toilet?”

“Yeah, want to go together?”

“Sure!” Fei Lixiya says, nodding. “Are you feeling better? You’re still a bit pale.”

An Chuxia touches her face. “I’m still pale? I shouldn’t… .”

She chalks it up to being in the hospital for a while, her skin isn’t as tan as it would have been if she was under the sun.

Before they knew it, they reached the bathroom and entered the stalls. Fei Lixiya hesitates before speaking to An Chuxia.

“I wanted to ask you something,” she says cautiously. “What happened with young master Han?”

An Chuxia pauses before acting like everything is normal. Even if they’re not looking at each other, she nods and says, “Well… .”

“I mean, what happened?” Lixiya swallows before continuing. “I was at the Han restaurant when I saw him. At first, I didn’t think it was him, but there he was, laughing and carrying on. What the hell?”

Fei Lixiya’s words were carefully chosen, but the connotation made the air around them feel oppressive. Chuxia’s beautiful face deflates, losing its aura.

“It doesn’t matter.” She bends over and pulls up her underwear. “He lost his memory a few months ago, and all he remembers is his infatuation with Mankuai.”

Amnesia. Isn’t this a little too strange? But the young master was hit with a bullet. It would be strange if he didn’t have any memory loss.

Both girls flush the button simultaneously and exit the cubicles. But what they aren’t prepared for are the dozen girls waiting for them on the other side; their arms crossed over their chests.

It reminds her of her previous school. Girls would come looking for trouble, but the target was usually Meng Xiaonan.

The girls’ bathroom has magical powers. It becomes a chat club when the girls are bored. If a score needs to be settled, all masks can be dropped in the room.

Fei Lixiya isn’t used to violence, and hides behind An Chuxia.

“Can I help you?” An Chuxia isn’t like Fei Lixiya. She’s been bullied before, and she knows she gets stronger when these opportunities arise.

“Is that true?” One of the girls step up and smile maliciously. “Young master Qilu dislikes you?”

It turns out, this matter is important. An Chuxia smiles as she stares her down. “It’s old news, why should it matter?”

“Shouldn’t you be embarrassed that he doesn’t like you?” Another girl asks, pushing Chuxia’s shoulder. Her face is full of disdain. “People were jealous of you because young master Han liked you. Do you think that you’re still untouchable?”

The school bell rings, but no one makes an effort to move.

“Listen, I don’t want to waste time here, especially since we’re not even acquainted!” She makes the statement so she can get away without starting a fight.

She refuses to be bullied, be it then or now!

“Waste time? You think we’re wasting your time? Really, An Chuxia… .”

The girl was about to charge at An Chuxia when a teacher walks into the group of girls. She immediately yells, “The school bell has rung. Why aren’t you back in your classrooms?”

“Just you wait!” The girl yells before running out with the rest.

“Let’s hurry back.” Fei Lixiya puts her hand in Chuxia’s and pulls her. She apologizes quickly. “I’m sorry I’m not strong enough to help.”

An Chuxia shakes her head and says, “Don’t worry about it. Let’s go back.”

The class teacher wasn’t there when they got back. The class representative was in position at the podium. Upon seeing An Chuxia, she says, “Did you know the teacher wasn’t coming? Is that why you’re late? You should’ve let me know. I could’ve gotten snacks for the class from the school store!”

She knows the class representative was teasing her. Chuxia and Lixiya smile back. Chuxia’s eyes scan the room to see Meng Xiaonan, the pig, still sleeping!

“Were you up all night?” An Chuxia pokes Xiaonan’s head once she reached her. “Wake up. You have to hand over your composition after class.”

Meng Xiaonan finally sits up after the constant poking. “I accidentally stayed up late last night. If you keep waking me up, you’re dead.”

“You can’t go back to sleep.” An Chuxia shakes her head. “Hurry up and write.”

“I know, I know… .”

After listening to Meng Xiaonan talk back to her, Chuxia finally turns her head to read the text. She hasn’t been in school for a while, and now, she has a large stack of books to go through. She wonders how she can complete them without losing any [of the books]!

But knowing this is a rich school, the books are only a part of the overall requirement… .

“The composition title, The Most Beautiful XX I Have Ever Seen, is self-explanatory, and there’s no word count,” Fei Lixiya whispers from behind a book as she looks at the blackboard. “Who comes up with these topics? It’s hard writing about this subject. I hate language classes the most!”

An Chuxia doesn’t think the topic is difficult to write. She picks up her pen and starts scribbling the essay title.

As soon as she starts writing, inspiration flows like the crimson river that flows once a month.

An Chuxia finishes her composition halfway through the class period. Amazed, Fei Lixiya tries to sneak a peek.

An Chuxia bats her eyes at Lixiya. “The composition is a **. If you read it, I will sue you.” Melancholia covers her face. Fei Lixiya smiles. She’s happy for her friend, but she still feels badly about her cowardice.

She hopes to have a bit of courage, even just a little, so she can protect An Chuxia instead of hiding behind her.

“Uh, Meng… .” An Chuxia suddenly remembers the tea eggs under her desk. She wanted to tell her friend to have some but she continued sleeping. She wouldn’t even put up a fight.
