Miraculously Unrequited

Chapter 35 - Repetition

Ladybug/Marinette POV

---------------------------------

Whipping open the door, hand in hand, Sir Noir and I walked into an empty room with no candles nor lights. Just the dark sky with the moon lighting the floor. The two of us stepped apart and search the room for any sign of where Master Fu could've gone but found nothing.

In his anger, Sir Noir clenches his fist and threw it into the wall denting it. He huffs and grabs his hair in frustration while pacing the room thinking of what to do next.

"That won't help our situation. You'll just hurt yourself even more than the goons did. Why don't we just-"

Before I could finish, Sir Noir turned to me and in a flash was yelling, "you should've just let me handle it! We wouldn't be in this situation right now, and Adrien...!" He stopped himself before giving away everything he'd done before I broke out.

I squinted and tried to decipher what he was talking about, "and Adrien? What about him?" I stepped closer to him, "I couldn't just not fight alongside you! We're a team, sitting back and watching a fight isn't something I'm good at. Plus I would've come anyway, there was nothing stopping me."

He pushed past me and grumbled, "you know as well as I do that you should've stayed put, Marinette."

I froze and tried to come up with a quick bluff, "come on cat! This isn't even funny anymore! I swung in late and tried to sneak up behind Street Fighter but you came down to me. Don't worry about that girl Marinette. I brought her down to safety..." I tapered off as Sir Noir grabbed one of my earrings and threw it to the floor.

Scrambling to pick it up, half of my suit began to disappear, revealing my true identity as Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He picked me up by the arm before I could find the other earring and spit in my ear, "don't try to lie to me! I saw you transform and break the glass yourself, I told you that I'd get you out, you should've stayed put!" He pulled me closer, "you could've been in terrible danger if he caught you!" Our eyes connected and all I could make out was his wavering gaze that had a red haze around it.

"Sir Noir..."

I grabbed his cheeks softly and brought my forehead to his. I'd never seen him so angry before, I knew he was protective of me but I didn't know it was this much. "Kitty, I can't just stand by and wait for you to save me..."

His eyes widened at my comment, making him push me away. My suit had completely disappeared by now with Tikki frantically looking for the other earring. "When you're a civilian, you should listen to what I tell you! I had a plan, you shouldn't have jeopardized your own safety! What if Hawkmoth saw you?!" He wasn't the distressed cat from before. No, he was enraged, with his anger directed towards me.

His voice echoed in my ears making my walls break down and a tear escapes me. I couldn't help but sob as he lectured me for making a poor decision. "I just--"

"Don't! Why couldn't you just trust me to get you?!" He didn't rip his gaze from my teary one. It was hard for me to stifle my sobs as he yelled at me in an overprotective way. Like a father scolding their daughter for doing something, she should've known better not to do.

I didn't notice Master Fu quietly slide open the door to the room until he patted my head. I looked up to see him standing beside me and sigh, "that's enough. You have no reason to be yelling at her, she did what she thought was right." He walked over to Sir Noir and pulled him down to the mat across from me. "Now, tell her the truth. This has gone on long enough, you can't keep treating her as if she were Bridgette. You and I both know it's unfair to her."

Sir Noir opened his mouth to say something but then quickly shut it. I hope he knows better than to yell at me again because I still feel tears dripping from my eyes. I want to stop but I just keep thinking of what he yelled at me about. Just wanting to help him made him angry at me.

"Master..."

"There's no need to worry, Marinette is a strong girl. She is ready to hear your story."

The two gave a knowing look to each other before Sir Noir took a deep sigh, "before moving here some time ago, I lived in London as Sir Noir with my own little Ladybug. She was just as strong and devoted as you but that never stopped me from wanting to protect her before anything else."

"What are you..." He looked into my eyes making me trail off. His eyes were a puffy red tint while he ruffled his hair trying to cover his sorrow.

He sighed and looked down again, "before Adrien had the cat miraculous and before you had the Ladybug miraculous, they were in London being wielded by my partner and me."

I perked up and whipped my head towards Master Fu as he turned to leave the room without another word.

He can't be serious?! Well, actually, that would explain his accent and how he got used to the miraculous so quickly. I never would've guessed that the miraculous were in London before coming to Paris. Does that mean there was another villain before Hawkmoth?
