This might be a bit sudden, but, it's my 7th birthday and I'm celebrating it at the gremory household.

why you ask?

Because apparently, me and rias we're born in same the day, at the same time, in the same Hospital Ward.

Twins of red and blue is what they call us.

Interesting thing about that, while rias has crimson red hair, I have dark blue hair. As to why I'm sharing a birthday with her in her noble household is a simple matter to explain. turns out two women giving birth to children at the same time as an amazing starting point for a friendship. Regardless of social positions.

especially with how unique the two of us were.

Not only because of our hair color or the fact that we were born at the same day at the same time. We're actually also the only two children born in their territory in the last 3 years.

with the devil's extreme lifespan, comes low fertility rate.

There is precedent for something like this happening amongst humans, it happens every day, everywhere. but it's an absolutely astronomical probability for devils.

From that, Lord and Lady gremory actually consider me as an extended family member. Especially since it seems like I have no father.

it seems he was ambushed in a trap summoning by a bunch of extremist exorcist on the Earth four months into my mother's pregnancy. I wasn't conscious at that time so I have absolutely no idea what he looks like or what his personality was.

the gremory's are an affectionate family who shower their family members with an Unholy amount of love, and also treat the citizens and commoners within their domain with fairness and respect. although it's not rare, It is just that this type of treatment is not what you will find in quite a lot of territories. especially those more beholden to the old ways.

So like my prediction in the w.o.m.b, it truly came through. I truly did become the childhood friend rias gremory.

like I said, we were born in the same hospital at the same ward. So it stands to reason that the entirety of the gremory family was there.

this includes none other than the Lord maou Sirzechs himself.

A strange custom that I later found out, is that in the devil's society, it is the duty of the father or grandfather to come up with the name of the child.

As apparently both my father's parents and mother's parents were taking out as collateral damage in the Great War, there was no immediate male family members to give me a name.

At this point, you would expect my mom to decide the name herself. Anyone would, it's common sense.

But as if struck by proverbial lightning, she had the genius idea to have the closest Lord to me grant me a name.

Yes that's right, I was granted a name by none other than the Super Devil Himself.

I remember upon seeing him, I started freaking out.

it was a really damn scary, you know?

I'm extremely s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e to energy, and one of the first things I lay witness to after my birth is a monster 10 times more powerful than the previous Lucifer. Not just him, the other three maou and Grayfia Lucifuge were their too to witness rias's birth.

You have no idea how scary it is to be surrounded by that much power immediately after being born.

I'm not ashamed to say it, but I legitimately started crying and I was unconsciously releasing energy. both demonic energy and ki.

a pale blue aura was released.

after ample deliberation, and refutation of just about every name Leviathan could come up with, my name is finally decided.

The name granted upon me by lord Maou Sirzechs was --

"Lin-chan, Where are you? it's time to blow out the candles and make a wish"

"Yeah, I'm coming"

slapping me out of my thoughts was the cutest reddest little button you will ever find, rias.

Ah, yes that's right? the birthday cake. I was so lost in thought that I almost forgot. we share a birthday together, so it stands to reason that we also shared a birthday party together every year.

This was especially the case after my mother was essentially forced/persuaded to join Lady Venelana gremory's vacant peerage slots, there by cementing my extended family/ childhood friend position.

She's been recently promoted to mid-ranked devil class of dame, after a review, it was discovered that she completed enough contracts to receive a promotion. unfortunately for me, that specific middle class position is not inheritable by immediate family members. So so I'm still in a position of low-class devil.

Oh, speaking of my mother, how do I say this, She is probably the softest and fluffiest creature I've ever laid eyes on. she so damn soft and squishy. like some kind of Heaven made meat pillow.

As I get dragged into parlor by rias we are greeted with the biggest cake yet of the successive birthday parties.

"Ah, there you are. What took you so long. it's time to make a wish."

The one who called me was none other than my mother Livianna, a tall and fluffy blue haired woman with sparkling crystal like eyes. Standing right of her, her Lord and best friend Venelana gremory. My 'other' mother.

In the vicinity, were others such as her husband Lord gremory, the redhead siscon maou, a certain Magical🔹girl siscon maou and her glasses sister, a silver-haired haired maid-wife, and some other weirdos.

All in all, not a large party, but a gathering of relatively close people.

"all right you two, blow out the candles and make a wish, but don't tell us, okay? it's supposed to be a secret"

We both approached the cake and blew out the two candles. One of them red and one of them blue. we each made our wish.

Using telepathy, I spied on what she was wishing for.

'I wish we could all stay happy together forever.'

a simple wish, but not one that is so easily fulfilled. At this time, her marriage has already been decided. no, it was already decided just before either of us were born. She simply had no say in the matter and in the future she would hate it to the point of running away to the human world.

in response to her simple wish i respond with my own.

'I wish for the strength to overcome all future odds that are to come my way.'

With the candles blown out, what followed was clapping. After that, it was gift-giving time.

With good reason, rias received far more than me. she was even given her evil pieces at this time. that was the most important thing she could have gotten.

On the other hand, aside from a red sword I got from Lord Sirzechs, i got something I specifically requested from Lord Ajuka.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my name.

The name granted upon me by lord Maou Sirzechs was -- Linnaeus.
