My League Of Villains

Chapter 14 - An Offer You Should Refuse

When Izuku opened his eyes he was inside a dusty room. The light blinded his eyes. Around him, there were tables full of weapons neatly ordered and clean. By the looks of it, Stain brought him into his den. The mouldy roof, the broken windows covered with duct tape and cloth and the general feeling of abandon permeating the air suggested him that the hideout wasn't exactly a five-star hotel. The weapons looked like the only clean thing in the whole room. Izuku wasn't a rich person by any definition but this made him feel really sorry for the Hero Killer. It looked more like the "house" of a drug addict beggar than the hiding place of one of the most legendary and fearsome villains of the last few years.

"You're finally awake! I was wondering if I hit you too hard. You ARE injured after all."

The bloodthirsty villain came out of the shadows giggling. He roughly grabbed him by the shoulders and forced him to stand up. The simple movement almost made Izuku puke.

"Whoa, whoa, easy there, boy. I washed the floor this morning!"

Suddenly, he realized the situation he was in, and he froze on the spot. Panic took over him and his knees started to shake. Again, he struggled to not puke on the villain's feet. He wasn't afraid of him. He was afraid of the Police and the PSIA. He was already in an ambiguous situation and he needlessly put himself in an even more dangerous one. His whole life was hanging by a thread. His future was depending on this one night, if he couldn't manage things well this was the end for him. Maybe it was already too late.

"Why did you bring me here? How much time has passed? I'm in police custody, you moron! Do you have any idea what would happen to me if they find out I ran away?"

"Calm down, it's been only half an hour. Also, there's nothing on the news, don't worry."

Izuku controlled his breath and run a hand through his hair. Dozens of thoughts, excuses and lies formed in his head, but none seemed to be believable enough. [Unless...]

He gradually adjusted his emotions as he decided on his next moves. He felt that if he could pull it off he could take care of all his troubles in one fell swoop. He prepared his right hook and positioned himself closer to the improvised armoury.

"Well, anyway, I brought you here to show you my place. I know it's not much, but it's not the main event. There's something even more interesting."

Izuku hesitated. He relaxed his tensed up body and stopped the surprise attack. Curiosity, or the concussion, won over his logic and survival instinct. With sparkling eyes, he waited for Stain to tell him more.

"The thing is, I was invited by the League of Villains… and I wanted you to come with me." Midoriya's expression turned from bright to dark in a second.

"Didn't you say that I was too weak to be useful? Now you want me as a back up against Shigaraki and Team Loose Screws? Sorry, I need to return to my hospital bed." Stain's laugh thundered. "Silly boy, I don't need YOU to have MY back! I just wanted to show you how I do things, that's all! A kind of learning experience." he paused and extended a hand "I'm offering you an… internship!"

Izuku looked at him for a few seconds. The man in front of him was a crazy murderer who didn't even hesitate when cutting children. He was the very definition of a classic villain: a person using his quirk selfishly, following his own insane ideas and values, disrupting society and taking the lives of innocents without a second thought. But he had two things that Izuku absolutely needed. He had strength and unshakable determination. If it was the him from a year ago he wouldn't even consider such an offer. But now, he was different. The hero world disappointed him time and time again. Since when All Might's words shattered his dreams, he could see it more clearly. The corruption and filth of this world. The indifference and arrogance of the so-called paladins of justice. Even now, they were so obsessed with their reputation and their image, they were willing to feed a few teenagers to the angry mob. Stain wasn't perfect, but the mean justifies the ends. The truth was, he was tired of feeling adrift, like a puppet with severed strings. He wanted a guide, someone to show him the way. Someone who could rekindle the fire in his heart. He felt it was worth it to follow him for a while and learn something useful along the way. He just had to keep it a secret. Perhaps he was committing the biggest mistake of his whole life. Izuku raised his own hand and clenched Stain's.

[Who am I kidding, this is definitely the biggest mistake of my life]

"Oh, I almost forgot. I still don't trust you, so..."

Stain clenched his sword by the handle and prepared to hit Midoriya on the head.

"Wait, don't! I'm going to turn stupid if you hit me again! I have a concussion. Give me some of those bandages."

He hesitated, but in the end he lowered his weapon and gave him the bandages. Izuku carefully tied them on his head and hands like mummy. He couldn't see anything and could barely hear.

"Good enough?"

Midoriya tormented the bandages on his face and hands. They were useful to hide his identity, but the combination of cotton and sweat was making his eyes itchy. He was glad he could use his eyes and ears again. The League of Villains had contacted Sain and given him this location, so now they were waiting on a roof for some teleporter guy. He was late.

"Is he going to come?"

Just as he said that a dark mass popped up out of nowhere, hovering in mid air, and transformed in a shadow-like man dressed in a suit. He didn't seem happy.

"Who is he? This wasn't the deal, Hero Killer."

"Don't worry about him, just think of him as my... intern"

The fog man wasn't amused by the joke. He silently watch the strange duo. In the end he sighed and transformed in a black vortex again.

"So be it. But it's your responsibility. If something happens to him, just blame yourself. Get in."

Midoriya licked his lips. Something very interesting was about to happen.
