My Life In Blue Exorcist

(Rin): "Evening old man."

I say that as I enter Mephisto's office without much warning. The man himself seems to have expected it from his casual look or maybe he's too distracted with his game to bother. I'm aware that I should get on Mephisto's good books so he won't give me too much of a hard time but I find it highly unlikely that he won't give me a hard time even if I become best mates with him. Not to mention I don't like him much…

(Mephisto): "Why, good evening Rin, to what do I owe you the p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e?"

Mephisto says that as he finishes playing his game. I wonder what he's playing?

(Rin): "Just back to give you my report on today's event."

(Mephisto): "Oh, excellent. Would you care to join me in this game."

I look at the game he shows me that has the words, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and other Nintendo characters on it. For some reason, it says "Mephy switch" on it instead of "Nintendo Switch". I might need to look into this company when I get the chance.

(Rin): "Sure, why not?"

I decided to entertain Mephisto before pressing him for answers. There's no way this crafty old Devil knows nothing about the Organisation that's attacking the Order as a group of terrorists, or at least about the Demons like Envy.

(Mephisto): "Fantastic! It's been a while since I've had the chance to play against someone! This shall be fun"

Mephisto says that as he hands me a red switch pro controller. Ain't these things stupidly expensive?

(Rin): "Oh? Why not challenge someone at the Culture Club? I'm sure the game experts would love the challenge."

I say that as I accept the controller. I'm sure Akane and Sora will be glad to agree.

(Mephisto): "I have tried in the past but that didn't go so well. None of the club members are particularly fond of me, but I do understand why."

Looks like he's had a history with them. Bad history by the looks of things. We picked our characters before I started talking about my report. I picked a character called Samus whereas Mephisto picked a character called Mega Man. I wonder what he's done to them for them to hate him.

(Rin): "The Elementary School seems suspicious. I sensed no excess miasma in the area so there must be a strong seal placed on the area. The receptionist somehow judged me as a threat and decided to take me down. Whoever her superior is, it seems to be able to judge my strengths with just a look."

I give Mephisto a break down up what happened minus the fact I have a new familiar since this is more important. I find this entire situation a little fishy. What are they trying to achieve using the Elementary school? Try to make all the students into Demons? Doesn't seem to be that good of an idea unless they resort to kidnapping.

(Rin): "She seems to be part of the same terrorist group that you sent me to deal with earlier this week. Happen to know of any Demons called Envy? She seemed infatuated to him to the point of being psychotic."

I noticed something while I was having my dinner. About 'Glps Ewg', the unknown organisation that exists outside of canon in Blue Exorcist. Mephisto only smiles at me as I continue speaking.

(Rin): "Greed, L.u.s.t, Pride, Sloth, Envy, Wrath and Gluttony. The Seven Sins of Christianity that is said to cause all of our impure d.e.s.i.r.es. Mind telling me about the history of these Demons?"

I say that while calmly playing the game. Mephisto only chuckles at my analysis so far as he then begins to attack. Up until this point I was doing decently against him but now I'm feeling the pressure.

(Mephisto): "I am glad to see that you've used that thing on your neck! Yes, you are correct on the identities of the Organisation. The Seven Sins emperors, as we call them, plan to attack the Order with motives we are unsure of."

Mephisto says that with a burst of laughter as he begins spamming charged attacks against my Samus character. I begin focusing on the game while straining my ears to remember what Mephisto is saying.

(Mephisto): "Now that we know that Glps Ewg has their spies planted into the Elementary School, I'll send an investigation team to find out more about the situation. Of course, you would also be part of the investigation since you have the most experience with their members."

Mephisto ends that phrase by sending me flying, which made me lose one of my lives.

(Mephisto): "Oh, finally, please try to keep your flames hidden. Luckily the Exorcist you were dealing with was quite low ranking one, as such, I can just say he probably got killed by his lack of ability but more usage of your flames will cause suspicions. Thankfully you exited the scenes with silver flames so they won't link Satan to you but they'll still fear for a being that is of an equal threat as Satan."

Hmm, looks like he has a spy on me or he could've been watching the battle from beginning to end. Guess he's already aware of Kage's existence. Well regardless, I still don't like the feeling of being spied by this creep.

(Rin): "I'll continue with my investigation with the Elementary School and the Supermarket. My gut tells me that there's more to this than meets the eyes and I'm sure you know more than you let on."

I'll be honest, I don't trust this guy much. He's the type of person to betray someone even if he's known them for years. After all, he's done the same to Amaimon in the anime so who's to say he won't do the same to me and everyone around me?

(Mephisto): "Aww, I feel a little hurt that you can say something like that. Do I seem like a liar to you?"

(Rin) "..."

I just give Mephisto a blank stare before focusing on the game at hand. Do I need to give a reason to not trust you? I think that as I send his character flying.

(Mephisto): "Ahem, anyway, the organisation we're dealing with doesn't have a lot of members but they have quite the firepower. It's quite necessary for us to use everything disposable at hand in order to gather more information on them. Take that Demon child you found today, she seems to be able to use the shadows to her advantage."

Mephisto seems to have taken some damage to what I've said, probably from out of embarrassment, but regardless, what he said annoyed me a little.

(Rin): "Look, I don't care about what you think of others…."

Mephisto tried continuing to speak but I interrupted him. Everything around my surroundings felt oddly peaceful.

(Rin): "...But don't call the people near me disposable. We're neither your slave nor are we willing to sacrifice our lives for the so-called greater good that people tend to spew."

I say that as I feel my head feel strangely calm even though I feel annoyed at what Mephisto said. I feel everything flowing into place as I continued speaking.

(Rin): "Try something funny against me then I'll make sure you'll regret being alive."

I say that as the words "Game" appeared on the screen. Looks like I won but now I lost the calm feeling in my head. Strange. What was that feeling?

(Mephisto): "Yes, whatever you say Rin. It's quite funny how much you've changed over the course of 2 weeks. I remember it as if it was yesterday that you were scared of me. Now, however, it seems to be the opposite."

Mephisto says that with a weird glint in his eyes. Is he... proud? I'm getting a bad feeling about this now. Not to mention creeped out.

(Mephisto): "Let's end this now, shall we? I'll notify you when I'll be sending on to the investigation. It should be in a week from now. Have fun~."

Looks like this discussion is over huh. I still have a few questions to ask about the organisation but that can wait for now.

(Rin): "...Sure."

I say that as I hand the controller back to Mephisto before leaving with my Silver Flames. I have a bad feeling about what Mephisto's cooking up but I guess that's the fun about living in this world.

-Naneko's Pov, a few minutes ago-

After we left Rin and his two kids, Akane and I went to our room with Kage sleeping on my c.h.e.s.t. It's a bit awkward holding her like this so I had to wrap both my tails around her waist so she wouldn't fall off. This child looks like Rin, and so does Kuro and Midori which make me wonder if they're actually related by blood.

Heh, that kid really loves the idea of raising kids, huh. I originally thought he was just an idiot who might have a love for money, but this is just ridiculous if you ask me. Welp, I guess this is part of Rin's interesting sides.

(Akane): "Nano, don't you think Rin was acting a little weird today?"

Akane says that as soon as I placed Kage onto the bed. The little girl glued herself onto me so I ended up lying on the bed with her. Hmm, now that I think about it, Rin did seem out of focus when he got back.

(Naneko): "I'm sure he's just tired from the fight. He did kill a human after all. Though it's a bit stupid that you'd calmly kill a Demon but not a human."

Well, it's not like I'm one to talk.

(Akane): "Hmm, maybe it's because he almost lost his daughter twice? He's probably thinking over his decisions to make sure something like that never happens again… Also, Nano... what happened back then wasn't your fault. We'll find a way to control it. I'm sure Rin could find a way to lessen your pain."

Akane gives her analysis on RIn situation before noticing what I was thinking. Her eyes glimmer in worry as I just sigh and sit up to a comfortable position.

(Naneko): "Oh? And why Rin exactly?"

I still haven't recovered from knowing of Rin's origins. To think he has a backstory about as bad as mine, if not worse. I wonder how he deals with the pain… The fear of suddenly losing control and attacking.

(Akane): "Hmm, I think Women's instinct?"

(Naneko): "Pfft."

Pfft, I just had to laugh out loud when I heard that. Akane is the last person I'd expect to say Women's instinct so it had me laughing for quite a while. Though I had to quickly quiet down when I remember Kage is still sleeping on my c.h.e.s.t. Don't wanna wake up the cute kid.

(Naneko): "Is that also the reason why you're able to speak to him normally or why you said 'yes' to his little confession there?"

Honestly, this little girl on my c.h.e.s.t is a little too innocent. I never would've expected her to call me Kaa-san but something inside of me wanted to respond to it. Is it motherly instinct? I wonder if this is what Rin feels when they call him Tou-san or father?

I think I can get used to being called 'Kaa-san'.

(Akane): "Hmm? Unlike other boys, my body doesn't react negatively or hate him. Even when I'm with the president or with eye-patch, I can't stand sitting on the same couch with them. I think it has something to do with our fight where he won against me."

(Naneko): "Wait, you guys fought!"

Not only did they fight, but Rin also won. Akane at full power is not something even Chelsea can deal with for a long period of time. I wish I was there to see what happened. Rin better have controlled his flames when he was fighting her.

Wait, so all it takes is for Akane to be beaten in a fight to cure her androphobia? Yep seems like that's a lost cause huh.

(Akane): "Yeah, it was the night when I stayed at the Dorm. I sensed a S.u.c.c.u.b.u.s Charm on his body that told me to stay away from him but for some reason, it made me angry to the point that I attacked him."

S.u.c.c.u.b.u.s Charm? What was he doing with those S.u.c.c.u.b.u.s'? And she attacked him because she felt angry?

(Naneko): "Oh? What other secrets have you been hiding from me? You're gonna tell me you have a crush on Rin?"

I think it's kinda cute seeing Akane like this. I'm definitely prying for answers from her.

(Akane): "I don't know, maybe? I can't tell if this is just my interest in him or if my feelings are genuine... Remember I'm half-Succubi, I don't even know if my race can even fathom love."

Akane says that with a sad tone, probably thinking about her parents that abandoned her at the orphanage. She's always been the quiet girl that both hates trouble yet causes the worst of them.

(Naneko): "It doesn't matter, does it? You'll find the right one if it isn't Rin. Though you might want to hurry up since it seems Shiemi and Izumo have a crush on him as well."

I say that as I resist the urge to jump off the bed to give Akane a big hug. If it wasn't for Kage holding me back, I would've done so. I thought Akane would've been sadder but she quickly picked herself together and said something that stunned me.

(Akane): "Hmm? Why can't we just share? Don't you have a crush on Rin as well?"

Eh? Is there a screw loose in this girl's head? I know sharing is caring but this is ridiculous!

(Naneko): "You do realise that polygamy is illegal in Japan, right? Plus, I don't think the girls are all keen on sharing a man. Also, where did you get the idea of me having a crush on Rin!"

Seriously, does this girl have a few screws loose? A normal person wouldn't set her boyfriend up with other girls, let alone form a harem!

(Akane): "Firstly, we're Demons, we don't have to follow human laws. Our lifespans are much longer than there's, I'm sure the Demons of the past had polygamous relationsh.i.p.s, heck I wouldn't be surprised if any of the Demon kings are in one as we speak."

Akane says that calmly with a strong resolve that made me freeze again. Why is she so gung-ho for this?

(Akane): "Also, didn't you have fun when Rin Challenged you in the bake-off? Even if you lost, you still had fun, didn't you? Also, Rin seems to be the only one that's able to play along with your jokes."

Akane starts listing out all of Rin's good points that made me fl.u.s.tered. This girl has gone crazy! Although it's true that I did have fun playing around with Rin, I don't think of him like that. Well, not yet. Oh for f.u.c.k's sake what am I even saying?

(Naneko): "Look, just because I have fun with my friends doesn't mean I have a crush on him."

I say that with a strong resolve as I put my hand down in this case.

(Kage): "So you won't be my kaa-sama?"

Just as I was about to end this conversation, Kage says that with a squeaky voice with a face that seems like she's about to cry soon. Dammit, our loud talking woke her up and she heard all of that.

(Naneko): "I don't mind being your mother figure Kage but Rin and I haven't developed feelings for each other or anything. That doesn't mean I don't like your father, it just means I don't see him that way."

It won't do good for Kage to have two parents who don't love each other, it would just shape her understanding of the world around and give her a trauma instead.

(Kage): "But Kaa-sama likes Tou-san, why not Kaa-san?"

Kage says that as she looks at Akane. Haah, why do I feel like this is going to be a normal occurrence from now on? Seems like she's already processed Akane as Kaa-sama whereas I'm kaa-san.

Oh well, I guess I'll entertain her for now.

(Kage): "You can always like him after! Tou-san is a good person."

Yep, I'm surrounded by idiots, aren't I?

(Akane): "Listen to your daughter, Kaa-san."

(Naneko): "Not you too."

I give her a blank stare before sighing in defeat. I feel like I'll be sighing a lot more in the near future.

(Akane): "Hehe Sorry."

(Naneko): "Well whatever fellow, Kaa-sama."

This situation is so stupid and must be cringey to an outsides perspective huh. Oh well, might as well make the most of it. I wonder how Rin will react to this kind of situation.

-Mephisto's Pov-

Phew, Rin's finally gone now.

(Mephisto): "Ein! Zwei! Drei!"

I wave my umbrella as I say my usual spell before transforming the vase in front of me into Yukio. No, this isn't a clone or an ability to change objects into living organisms, it's the original Yukio who was here before Rin rudely appeared.

(Mephisto): "Surprised by your brother's unique ability?"

I ask this question since Yukio wanted to complain about how lenient I am with Rin and about how he's sent to missions even though he's not an Exorcist. If I'm honest, Yukio is more of an annoyance at this point since he keeps on interfering

(Mephisto): "You see, Rin seems to have figured out the gravity of his situation and has already made multiple plans to give himself a better life, whether they are obvious or not is another question to ask."

He's smarter than you'd think he is, but unfortunately, he can't make use of it due to his trauma. I do hope for him to heal up before the main event comes up.

(Yukio): "How long have you known of Rin's abilities?"

Yukio says that as he clenches his fist. Oh? Looks like the younger brother is getting angry. Anger is not a good feature of an Exorcist, young Okumura, you should take notes from your older brother sometimes. Though he might not be the best role model.

(Mephisto): "Hmm? It was around the time he used the training room I gave him. He already planned to give up his old lifestyle of being a troublemaker and decided to live a second life after that incident."

In more ways than just one…

Yukio seems to have not liked the fact his older useless brother seems to have gained more strength than he could imagine. Now I wonder, will you break? And awaken whatever is inside you, just like our Rin?

(Mephisto): "I suggest leaving Rin alone from now on. I'm not telling you to avoid him but let him do whatever he sees fit. He's not the foolish child you once knew. Just remember that the next time you interact with him."

I wish Yukio would stop being an obstacle to Rin's development. His future is already an interesting one but for my entertainment, he needs to have more power. After all, this world is on its last legs, even with his newfound powers it might not be enough to save it. Well, let's see what you'll do, Rin.

(Yukio): "Fine… But when he was playing that game against you…"

Yukio begins his words whilst exhibiting his rage. Tsk tsk, when will he learn?

(Yukio): "...Why did Rin's eyes turn silver?!"

Oho, so he was paying attention to our little charade. I smile widely at Yukio before giving him my response.

(Mephisto): "You should be aware of every half Demon having an inner Demon inside of them, correct? Well, suppose we have our Rin who recently awakened his powers not too long ago whilst having fought quite a few battles, what would you suggest happen to his other half?"

Well, that's assuming that he only has one. Yukio seems to have caught on to what I've said which made his previously calm facade seem like a joke.

(Yukio): "So that's why you've been sending him out on missions! You are aware that if the Order catches him whilst he's on his mission it will be the end of him and to you as well! He even got caught today and killed a man. You were the one who caused that to happen!"

Who else is getting bored of Yukio complaining? I sure am.

(Mephisto): "I will not repeat myself. The things I do are in his favour. Though I must admit I get my entertainment out of what he does."

Who can blame me? Rin's quite entertaining with how he deals with situations and how he fights. Especially in the future, it seems to be even better. Especially with what I plan for him to deal with.

(Mephisto): "Now, I shall resign for today as I'm quite a busy man. I'll do you the favour of personally taking you back to the Dormitory."

I can tell Yukio is going to put up a fight if I tell him to leave so I did what any sensible King of Time would do and send him off. Oh, it's so hard being as patient as I am, maybe I should treat myself to cookie dough icecream?

(Yukio): "Wai-."

With a snap of my fingers, Yukio vanished as if he wasn't there, to begin with. My, it's tough being this busy.

(Sloth): "Busy is an overstatement, isn't it? Especially since you just want to watch the next episode of your stupid cartoons."

Sloth, our favourite Door-kun, immediately opened his mouth after Yukio left. And Might I add what he said annoyed me by a great deal?

(Mephisto): "Oi, anime is nothing like Cartoons! Firstly, they're in a different language and the art styles of them are quite different! Not only that, they all have their unique cliches and interests that fit for the nation that they belong to. Each have their own charm! Shame on you for not being able to tell their differences! And you call yourself a Japanese."

Oops, let too many emotions on that one. Looks like Yukio's temper has rubbed off on me.

(Sloth): "You forget I'm still new here and don't care about all this stuff. All I seek for now is to be able to escape from this confinement in a months time and just sleep in peace."

Sloth says that with a lazy voice as if he didn't care about how many people he angered with his simple words. The poor soul is still ignorant. I believe it is my job to enlighten into the correct path

(Sloth): "And you should stop being so stingy with information. You're awfully aware of all of the Sins goals. After all, you're the one who inadvertently released us 20 years ago."

Sloth says that as he was about to reveal a big secret. Can't have the ears on the walls find out about this.

(Mephisto): "I would appreciate if you wouldn't talk any more than this. Unless you want me to extend the time you're trapped in that door."

Can't have everyone know of what happened until Rin experiences it for himself. Is that a bad thing? Well too bad, please hold on for the surprise dear readers.

(Sloth): "Fine…"

Okay, a shorter chapter than before but I guess it's better than nothing huh. I'm getting used to writing again since it's been about a month now. School's been at my throat but luckily I'm able to use a laptop now. Though I'm a few months behind on my coursework…. So I'll be doing all-nighters to get my project done, which is to code an actual game. Wish me luck. I'll try uploading weekly again but who knows.)
