My Life Jumping Worlds

Chapter 41 - Running through the Swindlers Swamp.

As the four of us run in the front of the pack, matching the stride of the examiner, I can feel people falling out of the race with my enhanced perception. I realize now, that these idiots clearly weren't prepared at all, and will probably die of dehydration down here.

How many people have died chasing this dream? As I wonder, I begin to think about returning to the Re: zero Universe. I also think about how Rem threw a fit when she saw herself falling for someone useless like Subaru, and chuckle.

Rem looks at me strangely, "What are you thinking about?"

"You," I say, trying to sound sweet and not get slapped in the face.

"Aww, I love you too." She smiles, taking the time to run forward in front of me and then backward and peck me on the lips before returning to her place beside me.

I'm glad that worked.

----

After 5 hours of running, we reach a seemingly endless staircase, instead of each stair being able to be normally stepped on, one would have to lightly jump to get to the next one.

---

after another hour, we see a large light of the outside, We then pick up the pace, only to have two surprisingly fast kids nearly pass us, as they shout, "GOAL!"

these two are none other than two of the four protagonists of this show, They then begin to argue about who came out first, and Satotz helpfully points out that they both came out at the same time.

after a short banter about the name of this place, Swindlers Swamp, a shout comes out from the side "It's a lie, he's lying to you!"

I then do my first good deed of the day, I punch out and make the shouting creature that would have originally derailed a few examinees thought processes. I save Leorio and the ninja-dude Hanzo some embarrassment too.

The fake examiner creature's head flies off of its shoulders as a stream of green blood showers backward and it falls on its a.s.s, twitches a few times as it lays on the ground and then stills.

The other creature he was going to try to use as an example of why the real examiner was a 'fake,' simply because the creature had a face-mimicking ability, stands up and starts to run, and I punch out again, causing its head to also fly off of its shoulders and green blood to explode in the direction of where it falls forward.

"You were saying, Mr. Examiner?"

he coughs, "Swindler's swamp is a land where the creatures that reside here are natural tricksters, if you enter this swamp, you may be tricked to your own demise, I surmise that creature was going to try to lead all of you away from me so they could later eat everyone here."

I nod, "I'm glad I've done my research on swindlers swamp, who knew this would be a part of the exam." I grin, and soon, we're running again. We stay as close as possible to the Satotz, not wanting to fall behind and get lost in the fog. We continue past trees, mushrooms, and deadly poisonous plants, and eventually, we reach a large clearing with a large gated house. looking through the gate, I see the house is made of wood and is purely painted white. The gate looks rusty though.

"Please wait here while the second test will begin soon."

---

after 3 hours exactly, the last of the examinees arrive, which is Hisoka and a battered and bruised Leorio. He soon wakes up and the 2nd exam starts as two eccentric looking people come out of the house and open the gate.

"My name is Menchie." The woman in the jean-shorts and loose blouse black blouse with her bra-straps showing says.

"I am Buara." the giant of a man with the yellow shirt and black pants says.

They both say in unison, "The third test is Cooking."

I then see Keiko grin, with a gleam in her eyes.

She really does love cooking, and if anyone can pass, it's her.

She has B+ rank cooking after all. food made by her is equal to food that gods in the age of gods would enjoy in the nasuverse.
