My New Isekai!

Chapter 53 - These Adventurers Leave This Gambling City!

"Haru, join in on the fun!!" Kazuma said to me.

"Wait, what, why?!"

"Just do it, get a little money before we leave."

I complied and went over to the board that Kazuma was standing at, along with three people.

"Okay," Kazuma said putting his hands onto my shoulder, "you may play poker, now!"

I let out a loud "huh!!" and the other people seemed to smile. They knew I was new to gambling, great.

I swallowed my fear. Then, I said, "I'm going to regret this, but let's go!"

As saying this to Kazuma, the dealer gave us all our cards. I picked mine up, and I didn't know if they were good cards at all. But, thanks to my luck, I actually won a lot of money. After a few more wins, I actually started to feel good at something.

Then, Kazuma put his hand on my shoulder. "Okay, Haru. Don't get c.o.c.ky, okay?"

"I wasn't getting c.o.c.ky…"

"I could see it in your face. Ever since you won your third game you've had on a look of greed."

Greed? Oh, yeah. I got so busy, I forgot what my true intention was for coming here. To be honest, I enjoy it here. I'd personally like to live here!

"Okay." I said to Kazuma, facing back towards the three men. I took a deep breath and decided this was my last game - win or lose.

I stepped out of the casino in tears, "I didn't know losing so much money hurt so much…!"

"That's what happens, you win some, you lose some. It's just a rule of gambling."

I let out a sigh, Kura seemed to feel bad for me. "Hey, Kura?" I said towards Kura.

"Yes?"

"Wheres the two sisters?"

"They said they had to leave early, something happened with their family."

"Oh…okay, then."

Kura and I turned to Kazuma and saw Megumin talking to him. We both looked at each other in confusion. When did she get here?!

"Well," Kazuma announced, "shall we?" he asked towards all of us.

"Hmm," Kura hummed.

"Head back to the mansion?"

"""Yeah,""" Megumin, Kura, and I stated.

Thankfully, we were able to board a carriage for today, but it is going to be a little awkward sitting beside Kura after what happened between us during that battle with the general.

Kazuma gave a loud "yawn" as he sat down beside Megumin, across from me. I sat there as I heard the family talk. Some stuff, which, things about this world that sounded fascinating.

Drowning in the depths of my mind, I remembered something. It was a conversation between my mom and I.

"Haru, why do you have bruises all around your face," my mom asked me.

"Umm, no reason…?" I said giving a shrug.

My mom sighed, "Haru, you know you can't lie to me, right?"

"And how is that?"

"Here," she said pulling her phone out of pocket and showing me her recent texts. There were at least eight calls and texts by the school. Mostly saying how I was getting into fights as of lately.

"Mom, I'm fine!" I said getting annoying.

She put her hands on my head, "Honey," she said, crouching down to my level, "I know Sakura died, I know you witnessed her dead body first. You think I don't know? I knew as soon as the parents saw the body. Tell me, are kids bullying you because of this?"

"No…" I said, obviously trying to avoid her of worry. I mean, we already had enough.

"Your eyes tell everything about how you're feeling. But now, all your eyes show is sadness. Try to lie to me again. I don't want to annoy you, I don't want to make you sad, all I want to know is if they're bullying you."

I managed to smile, look directly at her eyes and said, "I'm fine, they're not bullying me." (They were, though, don't get that mixed up.)

My mom hugged me, "Thank you."

"Haru, are you okay?" Kura asked me, shaking me out of my cliche flashback.

"Yeah, just remembered something, 'bout my mom."

"Now that I think about it, I haven't met your mother."

Wait, does she not know I came from another world? Didn't she say something about a wish when she came into my room, or was she thinking something else?!

"Um, yeah, nobody is able to meet her."

"Why?" Kura asked with a surprisingly cute face.

"Ahem," I started, "I don't know where she is."

"Oh… I'm sorry…!" Kura said hugging me. "You can have a hug from me to try and help you with it."

Faintly, I heard Kazuma whistle, "Nice." with a thumbs up.

I gave him the bird, then turned back to Kura. "Hey, hey, its fine. I don't mind. You don't have to comfort me about this."

"But I feel bad!"

"You shouldn't… It's seriously fine."

Kura seemed to feel the same embarrassment as me, and let go. "Sorry...for, y'know, hugging you suddenly."

"It's fine."

Megumin and Kazuma seemed to look at us with almost cat-like grins. They both let out little laughs every now and again, as well.

Well, that was extremely embarrassed!! Those two aren't going to forget that moment right there for a long time.

"Wait, why can I not use 'Teleport'?"

"You don't have Axel registered, and wait, when did you learn that skill," Kazuma asked.

"I learnt it right before the fight with the general. I think it was because of the person who teleported us to Elroad."

"Mmm, so you learned it from a person traveling as well, nice." Kazuma said giving another thumbs up.

Kazuma is the same as ever, even if he's being annoying.
