My Princess In The Golden Cage

Chapter 14 - The only thing that never left her.

"Hmm...Boss? Don't you think it's a bit too early for you to be asking this?" Glenn was the one who spoke as he bite his nails under her repressing aura. He felt as if he was being strangled to the point of suffocation.

"Boss, why don't you rest for a few days?" Stephie stepped up as she tried to pursue.

"Yes, she's right. You should rest." Nathan hinted the members to join in as well.

"Boss, you jus-" But before others could follow along, Aadhya interrupted him with the following statement which almost gave them a heart attack.

"Since you guys have no intention in telling me then I will have to walk out of this place myself and visit City A before dealing with it personally." She didn't wait for them to respond and tried to stand up with her arms supporting the bed.

Watching her struggle to stand up, each and every one of them scrambled forward to hold her but before their arms could reach her, they were yanked away.

"Don't touch me. All of you know how important that base is, don't you? The only thing that's left behind is the result of my hard work. I spent my four years aboard building my empire secretly until the incident. The company belongs to me and if anything happens to it, then you shall bear the consequences." This time unlike earlier, her eyes were blazed with fury and agony.

The atmosphere seemed too tense for them to breathe. The statement earlier left every single person staring at her dumbly. None of them expected her to be extremely invested in the company.

She wasn't someone who liked to share their feelings with the other person. She always behaved in a m.a.t.u.r.e way and never relied on anyone for support. Her colleagues rarely saw her display her real emotion to the outside world.

Even though none of them knew about her past and the sufferings she had gone through, they could still make it out sometimes by the desolated aura radiating from her.

Everything changed after she returned back to the country. The man she loved betrayed her for another woman, the woman she detested the most. Her family broke apart before she was abandoned and framed.

The people who used to fawn on her earlier, ignored and distanced themselves from her. Being treated in such a way, she developed a heinous personality.

With all the unfortunate series of events occurring in her life...how could she smile in the same way as she used to in the past?

At that time, she realized something that no matter how strong her relationship was with her family, friends or love, it was bound to change if not protected properly. During the fight of love and hate, she also realized that the only thing that never changed was the result of her hard work, her creation, the thing which she valued the most at that moment was her own company. Since that fateful day, she decided to stay devoted to her work rather than investing herself in an unfaithful relationship.

Watching the blazing fire in her eyes, he sighed and made his mind up before pacing forward and reported conscientiously, "After the incident, The Roy's ordered their men to monitor our-"

Hearing the same story again from another subordinate, her head began to ache as she glanced and cut him off, "Cut the crap... I know that sh*t. Tell me something else." she was vexed.

Raising his head, his eyes fell on her annoyed expression. He was perplexed as he didn't know how she knew regarding the situation without being informed.

Looking at his clueless expression, she deliberately peered in the direction of the two nervous figures. Curtis gazed in their direction as well and his sight fell upon the two silhouettes.

'What did they do?' he thought as he looked at their retreating figures. His sight fell on their sweaty foreheads which planted a seed of suspicion in him.

After giving in some thoughts, a spark ignited inside his brain and his gaze once again traveled throughout their bodies before pausing on the faces of his two confidants who were currently trying to reduce their presence by drifting to the corner.

Noticing his burning gaze, Ava and Nathan raised their heads as they gulped down a mouthful of saliva and smiled back sheepishly.

He glared hard and cursed them a million times in his heart for having a loose mouth. After the scary eye-to-eye conversation, he turned back and reported, "Our enemies intended to join forces with the Roy's to take us down. Since Roy's believe that we're sheltering in City A, they wouldn't miss this opportunity either. From the past few months, we've been facing quite a few problems and if our guesses are correct, then it must be them handling and ordering things behind the scenes."

She fell into deep thoughts after he finished reporting. Peering at the report he passed her, she contemplated for a while before saying, "Since they want to find me so desperately...let them. As for the opposition triad, bring them down in our own ways. Kill two birds with one stone." A cryptic smile appeared on her face as she uttered the last sentence.

A glimpse of her smile caught them in a state of anxiety. They knew that every time their boss smiled in this way, it meant either destruction or too much destruction.

After the meet-and-greet session with her confidants, Aadhya said telepathically, "Hey? How was my performance earlier?" She looked similar to a kid waiting for praise. Her brightly shining eyes resembled the stars perching above in the night sky.

Glancing at her face, she stifled a laugh and replied, "Not bad but you need to work a little harder to be excellent."

"Alright." She calmly replied to her in the mind before closing her eyes and drifted back to sleep.

A faint sigh escaped her lips watching Aadhya sleep like a baby. For some reason, she felt guilty looking at her innocent-looking face.

'Sorry, I don't want to lie but I'm left with no choice either. I need you. When you learn the truth, you'll understand why I did all these.' Then Amy flew out of the room with a heavy heart without even taking a single glance at the sleeping figure.

"Didn't I tell you...not to inform her regarding the company operations before she completely recovers?" Curtis sprouted out angrily as he stared at the pair of loose mouths.
