My Sunshine: Glad To Find You

Jessica's eyes had turned red, tears threatened to fall, she suppressed a sob, not willing to cry now, not in front of him in these circ.u.mstances. She pulled away from his embrace and studied his face. He was handsome, but now she felt that he looked even better. The determination in his eyes as he promised her was visible.

"I... I may not be able to love you. I don't want you to sacrifice so much for me. You are a good person, look for someone better."

"But I only want you" John wished to say these words, but he didn't. He didn't want to say or do anything which would push her away from him. The silly girl couldn't see that what she said made him want to fall for her even more.

He just looked at her. He could not say anything. Jessica, on the other hand, could not bear to look at his eyes again after saying those words. She felt ashamed of herself because she accepted defeat before even trying.

"Our parents must have thought about this. I think we should go with their arrangements. As for the fact that you cant love me again..." He stopped and studied her face, at the same time she looked up and their eyes met. "We can only know that after we try. Why don't we try out our luck?"

"What if it..."

John interrupted Jessica before she could even complete. "There are a lot of what if's, what matters is that are you willing to face it with me?"

Something was changing, but Jessica could not pinpoint what it exactly was. She could not reply to him anymore. He himself said that he had no problem with her, he was ready to spend life with her even if there was no possibility of further advancement of relationship.

Jessica slowly nodded her head. "So, shall we go and inform them?"

"Hmm, we should head back inside"

Inside the room,

Lincoln and George could not sit still. They ordered some tea and snacks.

Lincoln: "George.. what do you think will happen?"

George: "I really want them to be together. They are a perfect match"

Lincoln: "They look good together. Jessica is stubborn. If she disagrees what will we do?"

George: "Hush... You need to trust your soon to be son in law. Even if is cold to others, I have seen that he really likes her"

Lincoln: "Likes her? Did you see it? Psh... I don't believe you."

George: "I am serious here Lincoln, did you notice he spoke up for her? This is the first time I have seen him speaking up for someone... I think he has already fallen in love with her"

[If only George knew how right he was...]

Lincoln was shocked for a minute, then started laughing. "Love you say? They are meeting for the first time, how can he already be in love with her"

George: "What first time? She is his secretary. They already know each other"

Lincoln: "What secretary? Jess is working in the World co.?"

George: "Yes. You don't know about it? Didn't Jess already tell you about it?"

Lincoln tried to remember if he ever asked her where she worked.

Sigh!

He did ask her if she got a job and was settled well but not where she was working. But what confused him was the fact that she was his subordinate. Something was amiss here. He never felt that Jessica knew John before. He would definitely ask her.

Time was passing very slowly for them. They anxiously walked around the room.

After what felt like an eternity to them, the door of the private room finally opened. Jess and John entered.

They noticed that the aura around the two had changed. They looked at each other and smiled. George had a look on his face saying 'See, I told you that he likes her'.

Lincoln: "So what did you decide? We are no..."

John: "Yes" He immediately replied.

Lincoln: "..."

George: "..."

Lincoln: "Hurry. We are in a hurry. Good that you both support this" He turned to George. "Let us go to Blevins Villa and get over with this. What do you think?"

George: "Yes I have no problems as long as they agree. After all, it is their life and their decision. Lina is back from abroad, so its a perfect time for a family gathering"

They started making calls and get everything ready. Jessica saw the time and remembered that she had to return to the office as she had only half a day off.

"Umm... Dad and uncle, I only had the first half of my day off at work so I need to return and get my work done first. How about getting this done in the evening?"

Lincoln's lips pressed into a straight line. He looked at John and asked her, "Work? It doesn't matter, right? You are now with your..."
