My Sunshine: Glad To Find You

Back to the Present,

Jess was not able to process what she heard.

She sat down and started having lunch. Entire-time she had a blank face. Lincoln, Jess' father, was worried so he tried to cheer her up.

" Jess you do not have to think about it all now. You just have to meet him once, rest is all your decision. We will not force you or go against your wishes. Here take a look at his picture."

Jess: " No dad, Please give me some time, I don't want to think about any such meetings now. Mom, it's getting late. I should get going, I will visit you all next time. Bye, take care."

She left and didn't even feel like explaining herself for such weird behavior. All she wanted to do now was escape from such discussions.

While she was driving her mind drifted to think about the events which happened in the past.

2 years back, in Sydney.

After finally finishing and submitting the report, Jess was walking along Bondi Beach and watching the beautiful sunset. After 2 weeks of sleepless nights, she had finally completed her college assignment and now she had loads of free time. She had not felt this free for a long time. As she was staring across the horizon, someone bumped into her,

" Ouch!"

" I am so sorry, I really didn't mean to bump into you, but I could not help it..... Oh ! no no no... It's not what I mean to say, You know, you are very beautiful and I just wanted to take a closer look and I bumped into you"

Jess: "...."

" Please do not get it wrong, I am just embarrassing myself. I think I should just leave. I am really sorry"

Saying the above words I man ran away from her as fast as possible and in a few seconds, he just disappeared. Unable to control herself any longer, she started laughing and thinking he was indeed a very strange man.

Thinking about that moment, she herself didn't know that she had a silly smile on her face now after some time she parked her car beside a park and decided to walk around to think things through. The sun was beginning to set and the sky was colored in a bright orangish-red glow. The scenery was beautiful but what she had not expected was to see the man himself in front of her again, but the man from the beautiful dream which had made her smile was now a nightmare.

" Why are you here? Was it all not enough for you? Why do you have to follow me back here too?" Jess said. She was very angry, the person whom she would not even want to see in her dream let alone in person was now staring at her"

Man: " Jess... I am really sorry... I really did not mean to say or do what I did back please forgive me"

As the man approached her, she realized something was off. He was swaying from side to side and reeked of alcohol. The man came forward and tried to hug, " Jess its been a long while now, lets ... lets just you know not get angry with each other now, come on now let's go back and resolve.. what do you..."

"Are you out of your mind? LEAVE. IMMEDIATELY. I don't want to do anything that I might regret later."

Jess' emotions went berserk. She did not know what to do. She was aimlessly driving on the road with her eyes filled with pain and tears. After driving for hours she reached home and directly went to take a shower to cool herself down. As she was about to sleep, her phone chimed, a message was sent by her father.

[Cupcake Do not forget to think about the blind date, as soon as you make up your mind let me know. Goodnight dear take care.]

After reading the message, with whatever strength she had calmed herself down, she found herself breaking down again, next she did not even know what happened but she was a mess, all she felt was pain, nothing could help her to subdue the pain she felt in her heart, she had decided she will not let anyone else be the cause of her sad life again, maybe all she needed was a person whom she could trust and who would, in turn, be always there for her, but she really doubted her wish.

There was no such person for her in this world, she had left all hopes. Little did she know what was in store for her in the future.
