My Swarm Academia: Call Of The Void

Chapter 25 - The Hostile Takeover

Down in the observation room, the room was abuzz. Everyone was excited about the last fight. The disappointment that had been on Aoyama and Ashido's faces was wiped away by everyone's admiration. They had lost, but they had also shown their power, and the class had not missed that.

Still, there was a lot of admiration for Kai, who had clearly controlled the whole fight from the moment he had made his presence known. That was when the inevitable question was asked.

"Where is Kai?" Todoroki asked.

Slowly, everyone turned towards the door. Sato told them about how Kai had something stuck in his boot, but now that they thought about it, something was off. Things had been off with him from the beginning, though, so they thought that it was just how Kai was.

Then the door opened, letting a dry rattling sound enter. Kai walked in, his antenna hair all twitching and clattering against itself. His eyes were glowing and streaming purple mist. The look on his face was somewhat hard to read, but it was certainly anything but cheerful.

"Now that the quote, unquote, 'lesson' has concluded, I am finally free to do what must be done. I hereby declare martial law for the protection of my people. Two stand trial for treason. How do you plead?" Kai asked, looking at All Might and Bakugo.

"Young Kaisei, what is-"

"Shut the hell up you overhyped fanboy generator. You have managed to f*ck up every job you have in your first twenty minutes of work today, and I need to take over. You are a failure as an a.d.u.l.t, a teacher, and most of all, as a hero. Both you and Bakago over there are lucky that I've made more than a dozen different promises that amount to me not eviscerating you right now."

Everyone was stunned by the venom that filled Kai's voice. Not just the content, but the fact that the target was All Might, of all people. Of course, one voice was infuriated beyond being stunned.

"What the hell did you call me? The name's not Bakago, it's Bakugo! Bakugo!"

"Oh dear, you've turned into a pokemon. You have long since lost the right to me respecting you beyond being a member of the human race. But still, if you don't like Bakago, I can call you something else." Kai turned back to All Might. "So, Yagi, you and Judas over there stand accused. You are criminally negligent or incompetent, and Judas attempted to commit murder. How do you plead? And please, do plead."

"Young Kaisei, aren't you blowing things a little out of proportion?"

"On the contrary, I'm oddly the one who is having the sanest reaction to today's incident among us. After all, Judas betrayed a friend and tried to murder him, and everyone else is acting like it's fine. And that is all your fault, Yagi-san. Your inaction has failed humanity for the third time that is relevant to my life."

"The hell are you so mad about?" Bakugo practically screamed. "He's going to be just fine after a trip to the nurse! Besides, he was the one who hurt himself the most! And stop calling me Judas!"

"Okay Brutus. Please try not to interrupt me so much. It's quite tempting to kill you where you stand."

"What the hell are you talking-"

"Now, hypothetically, suppose I beat you Quirkless both ways at the same time and left you with four wounds that are easily healed but still painful as hell?" Kai pulled out two jagged daggers made of bone from behind his back. One of his preparations from before- he just had to wipe the acid off. "I could just take these and nail your hands and feet to the floor. I'm quite certain that you would say what I did was horrible. In fact, I'm equally certain that the class would call me a brutal monster. So, still want to say that the trip to the nurse makes everything okay?

"Now, the only good point you made there was that his most severe injury was from himself. But does that really justify you barbecuing him? Does that make attempted murder okay, just because you failed to kill him and he's still alive? Hmm? No, not in my book. Idiot."

"Who are you calling-a"

"Please stop opening your mouth. Not only does the average IQ in the room drop every time you do, but I feel much more tempted to kill you. Did I not say before that I have made over a dozen promises that amount to me not killing anyone here? I'm supposed to protect everyone here, but now I have to protect them from you and the other idiot.

"Think for a moment about why I would have to make so many promises to not do something most wouldn't think of trying to do. I try to be a man of my word, but you know, sometimes it can be hard.… Actually, I think I'll add another promise onto that. Better to be sure that I won't go too far."

Kai dropped the daggers, which sank half of their length into the floor, and flipped his phone out of the coat pocket he had stuck it in. Without even touching it, it began to ring. Someone was calling him.

"There we are… moshimoshi? Hi! First of all, I really want to say thank you for the tea! Great oolong! Oh, you're talking to a… clone, I guess you could say. He can't talk, so that's why the phone call. Thanks for picking up by the way! How is your day going?"

Everyone was trying to figure out who Kai was talking to. It got even less clear as the conversation drifted. The shift in mood was jarring enough, but things had relaxed enough that everyone was able to talk amongst themselves. Some were thinking of attacking Kai, but a quick glance from him the moment the words were whispered killed that line of reasoning. A few, like Uraraka, were trying to figure out why Kai had stopped his rant for such a thing. He had gone from 100 to zero in half a second.

"Oh, my name! I'm so sorry for not introducing myself earlier! My name is Kaisei Oguchi! Uh, that won't mean much, so… yes, that's right! I'm one of Katsuki's classmates!"

The class froze. Things were now past 100 just as quickly as it had gone to zero.

"So, as to why I'm making this visit, I'll just leave that to Katsuki to explain. But the business at hand is this: I hereby swear that he will leave school today alive. When he returns home, he might say a lot of things about 'this bastard.' Well, he may be accurate by definition, but that's beside the point. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is, please insist on hearing the full story of how his day at school went, starting from All Might f*cking things up. Okay, I'll deliver a gift tomorrow to apologize for my rudeness. Bye!"

"Oh, Brutus, your mom says hi. Now that I've promised her you will live, will you shut up?"

Bakugo was frozen.

"'Has this bastard just threatened me and my mom?' is what your face is saying. You really are an idiot, aren't you? Have I not been threatening you personally and openly? If I was going to put her life in jeopardy, I would have said so. And I don't need a hostage against you. Messy business, that. If I was going to do that, I would simply-"

"This has gone on long enough, Young Kaisei," All Might interrupted.

"You are absolutely right. It is time for some proper teaching to be done, and since you aren't going to do it, and it seems Bakago has finally shut up for good, I will get right on it. I mean, haven't you been a terrible example?"

"NO! LISTEN!" All Might shouted. "You have gone too far and made enough threats! You even brought in Bakugo's mother as a hostage! You must-"

"Oh, you are going to punish me for talking? While you did nothing about Bakago's attempted murder? He even admitted as much to you as he was doing so. Your hypocrisy is quite something. Then again, we both knew that already, didn't we? You really have a tendency to do nothing at the worst time. You're just lucky that things didn't go worse."

All Might shrank back to everyone's shock. The most powerful man in the world had just been verbally slapped by a boy their age. And he just took it.

"Good. Now maybe you will be the one who listens. And hostage? No. I've already left the house. And, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if I take hostages, I will be very open about it. However, I think that that won't be necessary. After all, nobody would- hold on."

Kai swiftly made a sweeping motion through the air to his side, Kai reached out and grasped the empty air beside him. For once, something unexpected had happened through his hostile takeover. Someone, and a very surprising someone at that, had finally decided to try to do something about the maniac that was threatening the classroom. Hagakure had slowly inched up beside Kai since his first moment of distraction, when he was on the phone. Sadly, her efforts were in vain, and Kai caught her by the throat.

"Well done. You are far braver than All Might, Hagakure-san. If you ever have a hard day, remember that. After all, he would never be in such danger as you would be, trying to fight me. I really must do something to reward your bravery. Just remind me later."

"H-How!?!?" Hagakure managed to gasp out.

"It's simple. We could smell you." Kai swung his arm and threw her toward Yaoyorozu and Uraraka to catch. "Does anyone else want to try me? Shoto would have the best chance at going unscathed. Iida is fast, so I'm actually curious about that. Bakago… well, he's Bakago. No chance at all. So, any takers? Oh, should I use my Quirk, since I'm sure you are all concerned about that?"

He snapped his fingers and suddenly, the ceiling shook and cracked, and a fat, round creature just over a meter across fell through and landed right between Kai and everyone else. On short legs that ended with a single claw each, it clumsily righted itself and faced the class, showing a face that resembled the zerglings summoned before, but shrunken and misshapen. It didn't even appear to have eyes. The rest of its body was just purplish-blue blobby mass.

"Everyone, meet Bob. Bob, meet everyone." Bob waved one of its claws. "He's a bomb full of acid." Bob nodded its little head. "I've never stood right beside one like him when they go off, but I've watched a few. It's… quite something in the open, and much worse in an enclosed space. If I understand correctly, I'll be fine. Something about protective enzymes on members of the Swarm. Luckily, I count.

"You, on the other hand, won't. So to be clear, if I wanted to kill anyone or everyone, it is well within my power, yet I have not, nor will I. I am not crazy, nor have I fallen so far. Still, if having Bob here will make everyone sit still, shut up, and listen, so be it. Let's talk, and let Bob live to see another sunrise. He's rather fond of them, so please be considerate of him.

"Oh, and I guess I'm taking hostages now. Yagi-san."
