My Swarm Academia: Call Of The Void

Chapter 34 - Mild Reassurances

"So, everyone okay?" Kai asked as the Class 1-A students walked down the hall. Only silence met him. He shrugged. It was going to take some time for anyone to open up to him if they would at all. Besides, if it was going to take time, there was no point in being bothered.

So, he just put his hands in his pockets and walked.

And didn't even pause when the classroom went silent as he stepped in. He just sat at his desk and waited for Aizawa-sensei. Luckily, he was not kept waiting for long. Aizawa soon stepped in with a packet of papers.

"Hope you're rested from yesterday's battle trial. I took the liberty of looking at your marks and evaluation," he said in monotone as he walked behind the podium. "Bakugo, stop acting like a seven-year-old. You are wasting your talent.

"And Midoriya, are you always planning on destroying your arms? If you keep going, 'I can't adjust my Quirk, so I have no choice,' you'll never get very far. I've said it before. Don't make me say it a third time. once you've cleared that hurdle, you'll be much more flexible, so I need to see some sweat out of you, Midoriya."

Aizawa paused and looked at Kai.

"Now, let's get on with the homeroom notices…" he looked down at the stack of papers, looking for the next thing on the agenda. However, he was interrupted before he got there.

"Sensei!" Iida, of course. "Why aren't you saying anything about Kai?"

"Yeah! Didn't you hear about how he went crazy?"

Aizawa let them go on for a bit before raising a hand to quiet them.

"Right. I think… so what?"

"EEEEHHHHHHHHHHH!?!?!?!"

"If you believe half the things he says about himself, and suspect he's hiding twice as much, he controlled himself admirably. Keep in mind, he did notify all of the teachers before school started," Aizawa said, picking his ear. These kids were too loud. "Something serious happened, and he took it seriously. Even without All Might's insufferable influence, you kids probably wouldn't have given it a second thought that Bakugo's grudge pushed him to use deadly force. The only reason Midoriya didn't die there was because Bakugo missed. Intentionally, I hope," he said with a look toward the back of the room.

Bakugo just clicked his tongue. He wasn't going to admit it.

"Still, as one who could see the record and hear what he was complaining about, Bakugo was delusional enough that Kai had many reasons to doubt that control. I'm sure that he wants to say more, and now that you bring up the question of if something needs to be said about it, we can have him say something about it for himself."

All eyes found themselves on Kai, who stood up and went to the front with his schoolbag. Reaching a point next to the teacher's podium, he turned on his heels and bowed to the class.

"Once again, I am so sorry that I terrorized you. I am also sorry for breaking All Might in front of you. I worried that if I had tried to do that in private, he wouldn't have had to worry as much about his image and might have cut me off. Still, it heightened the fear you felt, and so, I'm sorry.

"As for Bakago, I knew that you missed on purpose, sorry about not expressing that before.

"However, in my mind, a traitor is worse than a thousand enemies," he said, straightening. "I cannot guarantee that you all won't see me do something like that again, as I can guarantee that if I need to protect you, I will do whatever it takes. Since you now probably feel that you need some way to deal with me, I have some things for you."

He reached into his bag and pulled out four remotes identical to the ones he had used the day before. Additionally, he pulled out two stacks of cards.

"I'm sure I don't need to explain these remotes," Kai said, putting one onto Aizawa's podium. "I originally intended one for each teacher, but I think that putting them into some of your hands will reassure you that you can do something. For now, three is all I have available. It won't take long to make more, but for now, I will give these to those that I believe will make wise use of it. So these will go to Materia, Pulse, and Shoto," he finished, pointing at Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Todoroki.

"They seem to be the cooler heads among you. But that doesn't mean I don't have something for everyone. These cards have every one of my weaknesses, and things to watch out for from my summons. Unfortunately, being able to capitalize on these weaknesses is up to you. I'll tell you what's what later, since that would have been too much for these cards. On the back is Ayako's contact information if you want to work on a strategy, or just need counseling. Mineta, if you call for anything else, she will make sure you never do it again, so think twice about it." Mineta felt the excitement from getting a girl's phone number go cold instantly.

"As for these cards," Kai lifted the other stack, "these are coupons for a favor from me. As long as it's not immoral, you can ask me to do anything. Dance, sing, make pastries, keep one hand tied behind my back until graduation, come to school dressed like a magical girl, pretty much all is fair game. Even assassinations aren't out of the question, as long as they are someone who deserves it.

"If it's old flame face, I'll do it and give everyone two more of these as long as enough people agree on it," he finished with a grin. With that, he went around the room, distributing the cards and remotes as he had said. Done, he bowed, returned to his seat, and assumed the image of the perfect, attentive student, looking for Aizawa to continue the morning announcements.

"The hell-"

"Is he serious?"

"Lemon juice?"

"YOU BASTARD!"

Kai turned around as if he had no idea what was wrong.

"Is there something wrong, Bakago?"

"This card just says I'm a disgrace to humanity!"

"Well, did you really expect a favor coupon for yourself after yesterday? That aside, on your walk to school today, you let one old lady get hit by a bike and didn't even twitch as two kids stepped into traffic. You were beaten in heroism by one kindergartener and a businessman on a phone call. And you think you're going to be a hero," Kai scoffed.

"Are you spying on me or something?"

"Ladies and gentlemen," Kai said, standing up and turning around with a wide grin, "that is what I call an easy confession. And it wasn't spying, it was just walking to school with you as an old lady and two kids. In any case, you didn't even look or help."

"Since when is that a hero's job?"

"Isn't it?" Kai countered. "It makes me question if you even know what a hero does."

"You-"

"As fun as this looks," Aizawa butted in calmly, "I would appreciate it if you would just take care of this later. Shut up or get detention." His capture scarf unwrapped both of its ends from his neck, acting like two snakes ready to strike at Kai and Bakugo if they moved an inch. Both quietly sat back into their chairs.

"So, the next business at hand is picking a class president."
