My Ultimate Ambition

The father of the prisoner a.k.a Yoona's father was ushered into a well designed office dr.a.p.ed with tapestries unlike other offices he has been to.

The table made with mahogany tree shined with a l.u.s.tre so appealing to the eyes it draws you to touch it.

He looked around observing his surroundings and taking notes of the stacks of files arranged neatly at the top of the iron bookshelves , each cabinet had a heading depending on the circ.u.mstances surrounding the arrangement.

The one nearest to him was tagged missing persons report, he looked at his left backing the door and saw a file with 'confidential' inscribed on it.

As he made to flip through the pages of it , the door swung open and a hoarse voice asked "Mr Kim Chang-min... I presume?"

He turned abruptly towards the sound of the voice while dropping the file back to it's cabinet.

He scrutinized the man standing before him and his eyes dimmed . "Choi sang-min!" he silently cursed under his breath.

Regaining himself from the surprised outburst of the person he least expected, he wondered what the man was doing there and also tried to connect his presence with the earlier incident reported to him ,but he shrugged his shoulder and decided to find out why the man is in this room with him instead of the chief of the prefecture office.

"Minister Choi... what a pleasant surprise" he greeted smiling while shoving his thoughts at the back of his mind.

The minister ignored him and sat down at the head seat of the office while beckoning on him to sit down. He sat down across the table and told him blatantly that he came to see his child not chitchat with him.

Immediately he said that, he stood up and made to cross the door but a devilishly sounding laughter erupted behind him and made him freeze on the spot .

He turned around slowly and looked at the man laughing as if he just heard the joke of the century and got scared. Minister Choi is not one to be messed with. One word from him can either send you to your death or make you live. With this conviction, he asked the man why he was laughing so sinisterly while looking gentle and submissive.

The prime minister continued laughing giving deaf ears to his question and this got Mr Kim upset , in order to maintain his prestige he turned towards the door this time with the determination to find either the chief himself or his daughter, both things still works for him.

The man suddenly stop laughing and roared "How dare a traitor that almost killed our crown prince walk out on me?"

Yoona's father froze on his step "What?... traitor?"

The prime minister seeing that he's got his attention slowly rose from his seat like a brewing tornado and walked towards him .

"Yes ... traitor. You and your daughter colluded with some assassins disguised as riffraff to kill the crown prince and all the evidence are pointing that you are guilty of the crime".

Very dumbfounded, he asked the minister what he is talking about and why his daughter who doesn't even know the crown prince will connive to kill him ,but the prime minister answered him with another bout of laughter while gesturing that he should sit down.

Obedient right now not because he wants to but because he is feeling weird about the scenario unfolding before him , Kim Chang-min braced himself for whatever bombshell the prime minister is preparing.

They are not enemies but they are not exactly friends. The prime minister is a very dangerous man because of his greed and that is why he tried to make sure their path never crossed.

Was it 3 or 4 years ago when his exportation business was at it's peak, a man had approached him with the idea of partnership . At first he was excited, but when he heard the name of the man proposing it, he had withdrawn but not without placating the man by telling him he is not interested in partnership as it was a family business ,but he can give up a particular right to him that can make him control a certain portion of the port without any interference from him.

Feeling a little bit placated, the man agreed but his greed was insatiable hence he started devising plan on how to steal the shop from him seeing the income it brought. But no matter what he did he couldn't lay his hands on it.

The prime minister cleared his throat and gave him a rundown of what actually happened and what will happen from then onwards.

Mr Kim finally understood what he is driving at , he wants to put his family in harm's way in order to get his daughter the position of the mother of the nation and also use the opportunity to make sure the girl in his daughter's way is gone forever.

Also, knowing that he (Kim Chang-min) is the father of the unfortunate daughter is like killing two birds with one stone. His possessions will also be handed over to him . The man is truly ruthless especially when there is many things to benefit.

He accepted the proposal but asked that his daughter's life be spared.

"Minister Choi, l will hand over all my possessions to you but that child..." his voice broke off but he still continued " Please spare that child, let this be between us ... whatever enmity we have shouldn't be passed down to the children"

The prime minister slammed his hands on the table, with face beet red from anger asked "You think this is because of your measly shops? No ! it's about your wench of a daughter that shook the royal heart , how dare her seek for what belongs to another?"

This time around, he knelt before the prime minister and swore that he will make sure that Yoona never sees the crown prince again as they will go to the hinterlands where they will live their life quietly without any wealth or possession.

The evil man smiled but disagreed , he told him that if they should agree on the deal then things should go according to how he dictates it , not the way he wants.

The other man agreed to his terms and conditions and the minister proceeded by making him convince his daughter to accept that she was with the thugs to collect money from the young master and she will be released, he even wrote it as an agreement and both of them signed it while holding a copy of it.

They entered the interrogation hall together and Mr Kim's heart was torn into shreds at the state of his daughter who left happily that morning.

Right now, she's just a living shadow of her former self with her beautiful face paler than it has ever been.

He ran towards her and lifted her face with his hands but her eyes were closed, he softly called her name and she blinked slightly but finally her eyes fluttered open and she started crying at the sight of her beloved father.

The man that thought he was strong broke down in tears and carefully embraced his child in order not to cause her further injuries, he blew on her bruises but she kept on muttering something incomprehensible.

He brought himself closer to her ears and he heard her muttering through clattering of teeth "Why...why... did ...you ...be... betray me... Young master?".
