My Way To You

Chapter 492 - Listening but Maddening Part 1

"My name back then was Davion Thax and I was like any other person in our small village in the outskirts of the Velstand Kingdom, along the border of Bahiri and Velstand. I had a mother, a father and an adorable younger brother...."

.....

"Davion! What have you been up too?! You're filthy!" A woman with caramel brown skin yelled as she rushed over with a dish rag. Her mint green eyes reflecting worry and concern as she looked over Davion's face. "Mom, I'm fine." Davion said as he tried to escape his mother's grasp but his mother was quicker.

"Where's your brother?" Mrs. Thax asked as she scrubbed dirt from Davion's face. Davion's cerulean green eyes flashed with delight. "Donte, mom wants to see you!" He sang just as Mrs. Thax ġrȯȧnėd over the grass and mud stains on his clothes. From behind a small, dark brown skin boy with silver hair peeked out. He batted his eyelashes as his onyx black eyes sparkled with innocence and affection.

"I'm here mommy." The boy said. Mrs. Thax straightened her back and crossed her arms over her ċhėst. "Donte, come here." She said with a head nod and firm tone. Donte cautiously stepped around Davion with his hands behind his back.

Mrs. Thax's eyes grew wide and became fierce. She turned her burning gaze to Davion and waited for him to explain. Davion shrugged as he averted his gaze. Mrs. Thax became furious and started to smack Davion with the dish rag. "How could you let him get this dirty while wearing his blessing garbs!" Mrs. Thax yelled.

"Ma! Ma! Ma, how was I supposed to know that he would go out and play while he was dressed in it?!" Davion cried out in defense, slightly crouching as he covered his head with his hands. "You were supposed to be watching him! You told me to let him put his garbs on early! I told you, you spoil him too much and made me feel so guilty that I caved! Now what are we going to do?!"

"Ma! We can just get Mrs. Boar to help clean up his garbs! You can keep cooking and everything will be fine!" Davion cried out. Mrs. Thax stopped her ȧssault and looked at her son with a suspicious glare. Davion glance sideways and saw that his mom was breathing heavily. "Ma?" Davion called out softly.

"Mommy?" Donte called out as worry washed over his face. "I... huff, huff, huff, I'm okay." She said with great difficulty. Davion quickly reached out and caught his mother's wrist. His eyes rounded as he felt her heart beat. Davion let go of his mother and quickly scooped her up. He quickly took her over to a chair and placed her down. He then walked into the kitchen.

"Mommy, I'm so sorry." Donte said pitifully as tears started to roll down his small cheeks. "It's, huff, huff, okay, huff, huff, love." Mrs. Thax said as she gestured Donte to come closer. Donte brought his hands forward and raised a beautiful, wildflower wreath. "What's?" Mrs. Thax managed to say before she started to break out into a coughing fit.

"Here ma." Davion said gently as he softly patted his mother's back. Mrs. Thax glanced towards Davion but she couldn't stop coughing. Davion placed the cup down onto the floor and helped his mother sit up straight. He slightly raised her chin and watched her face. "I know it's uncomfortable but breath slowly." He said softly.

Mrs. Thax's body twitched as her hands raised into the air, struggling to not pull Davion's hands away. After a few moments Mrs. Thax brought her hands down and started to calm her breathing. With a small sigh of relief Davion looked down. Donte had picked up the glass of water and was waiting for his brother to take it. "Thank you Donte." Davion said with a bittersweet smile.

"Dad should be back soon with mommy's medicine right?" Donte asked. Davion pursed his lips, he didn't want to show worry but he couldn't help but worry. His father was never late, he was always true to his word and estimated travel time but he was already two days late. Davion let go of his mother's body but she had gone slightly limp.

He took the cup from Donte's hands and gently placed the cup of water to his mother's lips. Mrs. Thax opened her eyes slightly and sipped at the water, she didn't bother taking the cup. "Ma, you promised not to over do it with the cooking." Davion said pitifully. Mrs. Thax raised her hand slowly and gently pushed the cup away.

Davion could bȧrėly feel the strength she put into the push. Davion moved the glass away and frowned, she only drank a small amount of water. "I, I didn't push myself." She said feebly. "Ma, I saw everything you made." Davion retorted. Mrs. Thax went silent. Davion gave the cup back to Donte and told him to put it in the sink.

After Donte walked slowly towards the kitchen Davion moved to pick his mother up again. He climbed the stairs with his mother in his arms and headed towards her bedroom. He then went to her bed and laid her down. Once she was comfortable Davion pulled up her skirt gently. "N-no, no. I can remove it." Mrs. Thax tried to protest but it was too late Davion had become frozen.

"Ma...." He whispered as tears started to well up in his eyes. "Mommy?" Donte called out. Davion pulled down the skirt, hiding what he saw. He then hid his face with the fringes of his hair. "Baby, tell me how you got so dirty?" Mrs. Thax said as she reached out to hug her son. "I wanted you to have something new too. So I made you this." Donte replied as he laid the flower wreath onto his mother's body.

Davion flinched at the sight. He balled his fists but held everything in.. He couldn't stop his thoughts from going somewhere dark.
