My Way To You

Chapter 491 - Ask and Answer

"She asked me why I had no book stacked above the window." King Ingamar replied after he calmed down, wiping away tears from his eyes with a handkerchief from his two toned vest pocket. "It would be too much weight onto the frame of the window. It would also take away the elegance from the structure." Ariana replied.

King Ingamar stared at Ariana then shook his head. "Very different indeed." He said before he sat down on one of the plush chairs. "So how do you get the book you want?" Ariana asked. King Ingamar smiled as he placed his elbow onto the plush arm ċhėst and hand under his chin. "Sit, please." He said as he waved his free hand towards the opposite chair.

Ariana hesitated. She stared at King Ingamar hand as she wrung her together. "I promise to answer all your questions, as long as you're willing to talk to me." He said with a gentle smile. Ariana glanced at King Ingamar face and saw that their was malice in his eyes. She took small steps forward until she reached the chair.

She stared at the plush chair. It looked to be made of velvet that was dyed an orchid purple colour. The pieces of exposed wood in the arm rest and its legs were stained a cherry red while the trim of the chair were braids of fine ropes in a platinum colour. She squirmed a bit before taking a deep breath. She spun herself around and quickly sat down.

King Ingamar burst out in another fit of laughter. "Did you think the chair was going to eat you?!" He laughed as tears rolled down his cheeks. "No." Ariana replied courtly but then her eyes became rounded and wide. She found herself melting into the plush chair. She leaned further back, having the fabric form around her body.

King Ingamar started to laugh harder. Ariana turned her gaze to him and just stared. "I can't even say you're like a cat! I don't know what I can compare you too but it is definitely some sort of animal!" He said in between gasps. Ariana furrowed her brows again but it didn't last long then plush chair was too comfy.

King Ingamar started to take deep breaths as he tried to calm down. cleaning his face with his handkerchief. "I ask for the book I want." He said as he placed his handkerchief away. "Do you get more then one when you ask or are you very specific?" Ariana asked. "... Depending on what I ask yes, I could get a few options or I can get one very specific one." He replied.

"So it's like a verbal search engine from my world?" Ariana asked. "... Yes." He replied. Ariana brought her fist up and placed it over her mouth. Her focus moved away from King Ingamar and hazed over. "So that is why you can't see the ceiling." Ariana finally said after a moment. "How so?" King Ingamar asked as his cerulean green eyes sparkled.

"There's new information generated every second of the day so a new book is made when it has been complied correct? Does any book get revised when information changes or does another book get produced?" Ariana asked as her eyes started to sparkle.

"If new information is gathered the old book gets a volume number. Depending on what gets changed it might even get a new chapter with a foot note. I think it is important to know about your past so that the same mistakes aren't repeated in the future." He replied in a hollow tone that it caused Ariana to shiver.

"No more questions about my study?" King Ingamar asked as he raised a single eyebrow. Ariana shook her head no. "Alright, then it's my turn." He said with a firm tone. "Are you going to ask me questions now?" Ariana asked as she paled. She didn't know how much he knew but she figured it would be as much as the Goddess.

"No I just want you to listen." King Ingamar said gently making Ariana let out a small breath of relief. "But the moment you interrupt I will not tell you anything else." He continued. Ariana's eyes widen in disbelief. "I thought I could ask you questions?" She protested.

"And you can but I can guarantee you that your questions will be answered with my story. So it'll be redundant. I don't like repeating myself especially three times. You ask me something three times, even if it's worded differently, if it's remotely the same question three times, all of this ends. You'll have to find the answers yourself." He explained

"So listen and think my question thoroughly." Ariana repeated. "Exactly." He replied. "Can I have a pen and some paper?" Ariana asked. King Ingamar flicked his finger as a small chuckle left his lips. A pad of paper and an elegant black and gold pen came from the desk and floated towards Ariana. She gingerly plucked the material from the air and got herself ready to take notes.

"Ready?" King Ingamar asked. Ariana nodded her head. "Alright, where do you want me to start?" He asked as he looked at Ariana with a mischievous grin. Ariana thought for a bit, she could feel her brain processing every thought that crossed but she couldn't choose. Then she remembered. She looked up and smiled. "I leave it to you." She replied sweetly.

King Ingamar crossed his leg and leaned back into his chair. "Good... Well if we are to start this fun story then we should start with my own story first." King Ingamar said. Ariana froze, she wasn't expecting to hear his story, especially with the importance of her own mission.

"I want to say it started about 170 years before your mother, excuse me, your soul's sister was summoned into our world." He started. Ariana almost dropped her pen. She fumbled as she struggled to keep her grasp causing King Ingamar to hesitate.

Ariana gave him an apologetic look. King Ingamar slightly pursed his, he looked like he was deep in in thought causing Ariana to break out into a cold sweat. After a moment he let out a small sigh then continued. "I was a young and naïve man back then.. I lived on a small dirt village with my family but back then I had a very different name."
