Chapter 6 - Old Friend

2:14:34. 2 hours 14 minutes and 34 seconds. This was the running time.

The voice is playing repeatedly in Eliah mind like a charm. Even though his aim is to have splendid record, the results that he achieved are way above his expectations.

"You means my time is 2…2…ho…ur..sss, fo…ur…te…n.en minutes"? Eliah stammering because of the shock.

"Yup. That is your record time. Impressive is it? Hahaha…. But too bad since it will go unrecorded since this is only an amateur race. All the record can only be use for your personal reference only. But from your performance just now, I highly believe that you will be record a better time in future. Just train well especially in your running technique"

Due to the surprise, Eliah is still digesting his shock. Because when his life turn to worse, he was being burden with immense pressure. There is not even one second he manages to comfort his mind from thinking how bad his life had become. Although he had expected that he will achieve something great due to his newly found ability, but still he unable to control his emotions.

Everything goes fine and he was informed as the champion. Due to his extraordinary record, the organizer willing to provide the prize in cash instead of cheque. Since he was declared as bankrupt, he had close all his bank account. Actually he is still allowed to maintain bank account, but Eliah refuse to maintain it since he intended to have is income unrecorded. Is not that Eliah did not want to pay his debt, but for now his priority is to spend the money on others that will help him to achieve his dream.

Now since he is 5000 dollars richer, he can start to plan for his next step to generate more money. Since he is very tired, all on his mind to back to his room and have a good sleep.

After few hours of sleep, he finally wakes up with some drool in his mouth.

'huh…. what time is it now?' Eliah still in daze mumbling on himself.

The clock showing the time as 4.00pm. That means he had sleep for more than 6 hours.

Eliah quickly goes to freshen up and wear a new set of clothes.

'I feel so hungry now. Let's eat outside since I have the money. Good money are means to be spend. After that I will need to buy some cheap phone since it become very inconvenience for not to have one.'

This is the first time that Eliah feel so relax and feel free from all his problem. He can feel the taste of having a lot of money is really wonderful. For some people 5000 dollar can be considered as small amount, but for Eliah this amount is more than enough for him to feel happy. He patronizes a nearby restaurant and order some food until he is full.

Since his next move is to buy a mobile phone, he will need to visit the Digital Centre building in the middle of city since it the place are famous for their wide choices of electronic items. Without further ado, he grabs a taxi and went to the place as fast as he can.

Once reached, he immediately walks inside the building and start looking around for his item. His current budget is not more than 300 dollars since based on his experience, this amount of money is sufficient to have a good quality phone.

He spotted one shop that look good in his eyes and came into it.

"Excuse me sir, I want to buy a phone which is less than 300 dollars. Could recommend to me for what kind of phone that fall under this range"? Eliah asking at one of the sales girls available in the shop.

"Let me give you the list of choices first. However, I highly recommend for you to buy this 'Uphone TX' model which cost only 289 dollars. This model is very popular and highly on demand for low cost phone compare to other model"

Since Eliah does not like to haggle and thinking too much, he immediately agrees to buy the phone. He is thinking to buy a laptop too but decides not to since he just can use his phone for at this moment and he can just go to internet cafe if he required to use it urgently.

Since Digital Centre located in the middle of the city, he decides to walk around to enjoy the view in the bustling city.

He also does some shopping to buy clothes and new running shoes to replace his current one which is already worn out. After spend some time enjoying the view in the city, he decides it is enough and it is time to go back.

At the end of the day, he already spent almost 700 dollars in total.

'Now I have more than 4000 dollars at my hand and I will keep it as of now. Right now I need to search if there is another tournament that I can join by using my advantage. I cannot solely depend on marathon only since this options are very limited.'

'Well, let me search on the internet if there is any race held in this city. Or if there some kind of event around. Or else, I will just need to relax and maintain my life as per it is. I need to upgrade my Int after this so I can gain more knowledge easier. For Eliah, having more knowledge is never a bad thing since you will never know that it might be useful in future.

Unable to find anything useful, Eliah went to sleep.

On the next day, he continues to work at the shop as it is. No one at the shop are aware about the race that he had won since he always kept it as secret for most of his activity.

While Eliah do his chore, he suddenly heard a familiar voice. He looking for the voice owner and he able to notice that one of his old college friend are here in this shop. Probably come to buy some furniture.

Actually both of Eliah and his friend are not in a good relationship with each other. Hence Eliah try to move away discreetly to avoid being detected. But unluckily he accidentally hit one of the furniture and a produce a loud noise which attract the attentions from all the people.

Since his friend notice him, he approaching him slowly. From the he look Eliah can guess that he already recognize him.

'Shit, he already recognizes me. Well come to worse just bear the insult'

"Hi. Are you Eliah? This is me Bill. You know from Huffrah College. Business Administrations course, batch 215." the man greets him.

Unable to provide any excuse, Eliah had to entertain him. "Well yup, that is me. How are you Bill"

"I am good. Did you you working here? Last time I heard, you are working with OBA Bank"?

"Let's just say shit happen and now I am working here"

"At least you got a job, right" Bill replied with a smug face.

"Since you are here, you might need to know that Alyssa looking for you after we graduate. You are suddenly disappeared like a ghost. You are not even attending the graduations ceremony" Bill continue to complain.

Eliah know that Bill was always in love with Alyssa but it was one sided love since Alyssa never liked him. Relationship between Eliah and Alyssa is purely as friend and nothing more. But since both of them are quite close, Bill is always jealous of him. Bill are not brave enough to force Alyssa on him since she come from an influential family where his father is a famous business tycoon and acknowledge as one of the ric.h.e.s.t man in the country. Hence Bill will always pick a fight with Eliah and will try to show his superiority over him.

Luckily Bill background is from middle class family only, hence he cannot do much to bring Eliah down and most of his effort are fail to meet his objective.

"Oh. Just say hi to her when you meet her. I don't think it was good idea to contact her again" Eliah try to be polite with Bill.

"Well I will inform her that you are working here as 'general worker'." Bill replied arrogantly and walk away from the shop.

Eliah know that from the last sentence Bill is still holding the grudge and will take advantage on his status to degrading his image especially to Alyssa.

But for Eliah, he will just ignore this since there is nothing he can do and just continue to act normal as per it is. Besides, Eliah current focus is to improve his stat and exploit it to his advantage.

A few days goes by and his skill are now ready to go. Eliah still unable to found any opportunity to take advantage on his ability. Most of the reason is due to his limited time which causes most of his plan are not feasible. As of now his stat is looking good and now he planning to improve his Intelligence as per his plan.

Since he had experience 2 successful operations, he will stick to it and will use the same method. Only the locations will be different. Since his Str are not high enough, he will just absorb stat from random people which is part of a gang member since he will feel guilty to absorb stat from innocent people.

Practice make things perfect, hence Eliah are able to absorb the stat flawlessly without being suspicious.

In fact, it will be not easy for people to become suspicious of him since no one knows about his ability. Besides simple touching with other person is something that are happen most of the time. Normally if you suddenly feel weak, you will not think that your energy has been absorbed since this will clearly not a reasonable answer. You will thinks that you had some health issue which required you to visit a doctor.
