Nikita

Chapter 40 - Shut Up, Okay?

Waking up to a new reality, Nikita Pavlenko was unsure of what was in store for him.

He had crossed the red tape and made it through. It was a good thing that the CDC had answered his call because otherwise, he could have been a great fool and possibly cost the hospital millions of money.

He wanted to know where the rest of the staff were and why the hallways seemed so lonely, but seeing Natalya's daughter right at the center of all that madness, Nikita couldn't help but think that he had been bested in the first game or whatever this was.

However, he knew he had to win it, not because it was a game, but because the future of Todorov depended on his decision.

"You wanna know what the good doctor did? He triggered the virus! Everyone knows about the two killswitch victims and how they died in the hospital, no?!" the woman shouted as people looked at her.

Of course, they had seen the victims, and they had been there when the pink pajama doctor was interacting with the first man, and a number of them were there till the time Renata Smirnoff showed up. So technically, they would agree with her.

"Yes! We saw him."

"Why is he not in custody yet?"

"Is he the reason we're on  lockdown?"

"Doesn't he understand what family means?"

"What a cruel man. Fight him!!"

The crowd in the hospital was growing bigger, and the unrest was extensive, and of course, the people in there were also recording the unfortunate happenings.

There was nothing that they had to hold on to, and their lives were being forced into something that they practically didn't understand, not to mention the hospital director didn't really tell them anything that could help them understand.

Now here they were, with a woman who was saying she knew Nikita had been there in all those instances? That was way too suspicious, but the worst part of it was that they wanted something to hold onto.

Their desperation, the fear in the eyes of their children, the creed patients who had no idea what their future held. Their lives were about to change drastically, and all they had was nothing.

Liza and the other chiefs in the hospital were worried. They had tried to keep calm with the guards trying to hold the people back. But how could they be able to control the unrest that was giving them a chance to breathe?

"Exactly! This man here. This doctor is the reason we are all trapped in here, and the facility will give us shit about, 'oh, he's the best doctor and all that,' but he's endangered our lives. Look around you, and everyone is hurting.

In one way or the other, we're helpless, and it's all his fault. He is Nikita Rostova pavlenko. Allow me to introduce you to the son of the cursed family, the Pavlenko household. The one family that perished in the crash.

He's brought a curse to our hospital. I say we lynch him!!" the woman added, making the people in the hospital even more uneasy. Nikita looked around him. Of course, he hadn't put himself in a place where they could see him but still, what the fuċk?

He had dedicated all his life to being a doctor in Todorov. He had made everything he had wished to do happen, and he had saved more lives than the woman here who was inciting the patients.

Qiao and his team were watching because what else could they do? The CDC was working on finding out the source of the problem and even the place where the hosts had been. They were brainstorming, looking through the footage.

The forensic analyst and doctors were also trying to think of ways to handle the bodies. Eventually, the unrest would lead them to look for Nikita, but they would hold their ground for now. They would wait and see.

They would have to make sure this woman didn't cause any more trouble than she was worth.

"Hey, stop it, you're causing too much trouble. Go have a seat and wait with the rest of the people," Qiao said to the woman who was just looking at him like she didn't know that there was a  possible outbreak and the situation was still uncertain.

"Why? You guys won't tell us the truth. You're hiding the doctor; that's the cause of all this," the woman said, and frankly, Qiao was so close to losing his patience.

"Look here, lady or whatever the fuċk your name is. This is a fuċkɨnġ hospital. Now I'm not going to baby you like everyone else is trying to do. Move back," Qiao said, not caring to whisper, and all the time, he had a smile on his face.

Nikita couldn't help but smile at his brother. In his alpha mode was a hot soldier, the way he made commands would make any man or woman come undone, not that he was one of those men, but damn.

'Focus, Nikita,' the surgeon said to himself as if trying to link himself with the situation. Technically they wanted his head off his shoulders, and he wasn't even worried one bit about it. That was crazy; then again, Nikita had stopped giving fuċks a long time ago.

"First, I'm an honorable woman; you can't address me like that," the woman claimed, and Nikita wondered what kind of shitty classes she was giving her daughter. How the hell had she managed to help raise the Pavlenko children so well and fail to raise hers?

The crowd was cheering on, the excitement making it easier for them to escape their newest nightmare, the virus in the hospital.

It was pointless trying to isolate them because the first case had been four days ago, and that was a situation they had all swept under the rug. Funny how keeping things from happening was proven to be a pain in the ȧss in the most inopportune times.

"And my name is Samantha," the woman said, making Qiao mutter to himself, "a beautiful name for stupid woman, what a waste."

"Alright, Samantha, I get you overbearing need to convince everyone here and have a following, but as you can see, we're trying to keep everything in check, now get in line to get in the quarantine room.

Best believe my team here won't mind escorting you there," Qiao said as he warned the others against creating any more commotion. This was a hospital t a bar that they could go to to make unnecessary demands.

There were actual people here and actual patients who were hurt from all this.. If they couldn't shut up, then they could be locked up, and nothing would make it easier for them.
