Nikita

Chapter 92 - Hey Doc, Be Careful

[NIKITA]

As the doctor walked out of the detention centre, he couldn't help but wonder what it was that had given Samantha that much confidence. He had seen her crumble for a second there, but it was all he got for her.

She had looked scared of him; hell, he already knew that, but it seemed like she was sure the doctor wouldn't try anything with her. Or maybe she was counting on the fact that she and Nikita had slept together and that the good doctor would not blow her brain cells to kingdom come.

That was too much hope on her end, but what else could she have hoped for anyway?

Life wasn't about to be easy for her just because she thought the doctor was excellent, and she knew that. Maybe she was counting on his humanity, but if Nikita could give up his space in the operation room for a week, surely it wouldn't take a lot to turn him into the man they all feared, no?

Nikita knew there was a lot he needed to attend to, but for now, he needed to see for himself what it was that the woman and her crew had managed to get off of Renata.

"Send me the location of the helicopter," Nikita said to Kyle, just as he got into his SUV and drove off. He had left Jacob and the other goons there to guard the woman, and he did not doubt their efficiency.

They would keep her safe at the moment, but at the same time, they would be having her watch the live feed of the James residence. It was something that Nikita had decided to make her watch to see whether she would flinch if anything ever happened to Natalya.

Maybe she would, but perhaps she wouldn't. However, Nikita was a patient man; he would wait for her. Maybe like her prince charming, only that nothing was charming about what he was planning to do with her.

"Boss, but you—" Kyle tried, and Nikita already knew what his right-hand man would tell him. It was definitely along the lines of you need to be safe, you don't have to, and it could've dangerous mission.

However, to Nikita, the only dangerous mission he was on at the moment was the mission to convince himself that death wasn't the way out.

Losing his family had tinkered with his brain functionality a lot, and right now, he needed to be alive. He needed to make sure everything was okay, and he needed to find Yuri.

Maybe then he would indeed find a reason to be alive, and all his attempts at detaching from reality would have paid off after all.

"Send me the damn location Kyle," Nikita said, his voice leaving no room for a challenge. This is what he had to do. What would be so sėnsɨtɨvė about body parts, especially to a surgeon who had spent all of his ȧduŀt life to this moment opening people's insides and being a good fixer too?

What could be so terrifying about his curiosity of the damn things that the world woman he had left back there wanted? What could be so horrid that a surgeon was about to be protected from? All of this was pointless, and Kyle knew it, but he just had to try.

He already knew that Qiao and Carrie wouldn't be able to talk sense to the doctor considering they had made some agreement that had made them even go forth and claim ownership of the Pavlenko group of companies.

Sure, they didn't care one bit about the wealth; they cared about Nikita but giving the doctor this kind of freedom wasn't the wisest thing the two soldiers had done.

"Yes, sir," Kyle gave in. He knew there was just no way he could win the fuċkɨnġ arguments against his boss. Sure he had won a few times, but today was one of those days he took the loss like a grown-ass man.

"Who's on-site? '' Nikita asked when Kyle figured out that he wasn't about to back down.

"Morgana and Rael"

"Okay," Nikita said before asking, "How's everything back there?"

"All is well; we're just waiting for you," Kyle responded as he subconsciously looked around their hideout.

The teams were busy and quiet, and the only things that could be heard were the beeps of the monitors considering the televisions that were on were on mute. It was the perfect environment to work in any way.

"For me?" Nikita asked, unsure of why his people would be waiting for him.

Maybe there was something he needed to fix, but then again, everything was already in good shape, and the only loose end that he was handling at the moment was Samantha. Surely there couldn't be another, no?

"Ye—" Kyle began, but Nikita cut him short.

"Ah, okay, I remember now. Well, get you some food. It's been a while since we saw most of the team," Nikita said, remembering how long his team would even be waiting for him. It had really been a while since they had seen each other physically.

Anyway, all of that would happen soon enough. He just needed to make the confirmation and go back to them. Maybe they would feel better after seeing him, or perhaps they would want to lock him up too, not that they could even if they tried.

"Alright, boss"

"Is everyone back?" Nikita asked after a minute of silence. He was still trying to navigate between driving and focusing on the conversation. He was never a multitasker, and he wasn't about to start today.

"Yes, boss," Kyle responded a little too happily, but Nikita couldn't blame him. He had been tired of being alone in the hideout too.

"That fast?" Nikita asked, considering it had just been yesterday when they made plans to get everyone back from around the world and to their central command center.

"Well, they saw the happenings last night and decided to take the immediate flights," Kyle said, his joy making Nikita wish they could swap places.

The doctor was jealous of his right-hand man's happiness. He wished to be happy too, but how could he be glad when all of his happiness had already been stolen from him? How could he be satisfied when everything he wanted was never going to be his anyway?

His whole life had been a lie, and now the universe was acting like all that shit had been right in the first place. Well, fuċk them.

"Damn, alright. I'll see you soon."

"Boss—" Kyle said just before Nikita hung up. What could he want now

"Don't start with the Natalya talk right now Kyle. We'll fix that when I'm done with the chaos of the day. Be patient," Nikita said to Kyle, who just sighed. Of course, that was also his worry, but right now, he needed to be sure the doctor could handle himself out there emotionally.

"Be careful, sir," Kyle said as Nikita hung up.
